【賑やかな朝の小さな異国】 I visited Boulangerie & Café gout around 10 a.m. on a busy morning — the air was lively, filled with chatter and the clinking of cups. The place was clearly popular, with many foreign guests already enjoying breakfast. I was lucky to find a seat amid the bustle, sunlight spilling over the wooden tables and the scent of fresh bread drifting through the room. The focaccia, lemon tart, and regular coffee were pleasant but not extraordinary — solid, simple flavors without the spark I’d hoped for. I was a bit disappointed to learn that, despite being listed on the menu, café lattes weren’t available. Conversation felt slightly awkward when the staff responded in English, even though I spoke Japanese fluently — a small disconnect in an otherwise friendly atmosphere. The constant fan blowing cold air made the space less cozy than it could have been, and prices leaned toward the higher side. Still, for those who appreciate a bustling European-style café and a slice of lemon tart with their morning coffee, it’s worth a visit — just bring a sweater and some cash. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5) — lively and popular, but warmth and detail could lift it higher. ⸻ 【Features】 🚃 4 minutes walk from Tanimachi Yochome Station 💰 Payment: 📲💴Cash or Mobile Payment (PayPay etc) ❌ Credit card not accepted 😓 🍽️ Order: Focaccia, Lemon Tart, Regular Coffee 👫🏻 Waiting time: Busy, lucky to get a seat 🚻 Toilet inside the establishment 🔙 Would I visit again? 🟰Perhaps

I tried this breakfast bread topped with melted cheese and mayo and pork belly and chopped broccoli. Only in Asia will serve this kind of breakfast and I really enjoy it.

NOTE: Cash Only The establishment is very beautiful and so is the decor. It feels very fancy. The staff are kind and energetic, and I had very little problem communicating with English and my very little, broken Japanese. I got a pistachio roll, a chocolate pastry, bacon cheese and brocolli slice, and the jam sando with an iced Americano. This cost me about 1600 Yen (£8) for sit in. Definitely one to visit if in the area.

FANTASTIC!! This was worth the visit, a small typical Japanese/French boulangerie. The breads were awesome, so was the coffee and even the salad was just perfect. Would have loved to visited more often but so much to eat and try in Osaka! Glad we didn't skip this one.

🙌🥐🙌The best croissants in the ENTIRE WORLD!🙌🥐🙌 I’m a self proclaimed croissant addict. I made a rule when I visited France recently that when I found a croissant, I’d buy one at each place I went. As a Canadian I’m spoiled with the French pastries in Québec but I’ve yet to find a croissant that comes even close to THESE croissants. First off I want to mention that if you can’t read Japanese, you’ll need to bring a Google translate camera feature (or similar) to decipher what each of the baked goods are. It’d be really hard to know what each item is otherwise. For instance, I love a cheesy croissant and would’ve been fooled by the almond cream filled one had I not had the translate.

One of my favorite Cafe in Osaka. Location wise it’s perfectly placed very close to “Osaka Castle”, which makes it the perfect place for breakfast or lunch. They make amazing pastry and sandwiches (check my photos below). The coffee is also excellent - I only tried the cappuccino. Staff is super friendly and nice. They also speak decent English, so it’s easy to order and get around.

Great pit stop en route to Osaka castle. Just a short distance walk away so good to stop by before or after your visit to Osaka castle. They have a great selection of pastries so take your pick! All looked yummy but we tried, and love the croissants!

Yelp
OMG! Best freaking French pastries! Better than Paris? Yep! Crispy, flavorful and works of art! I can't get enough of these! Plus the staff were so much more welcoming, helpful and polite than the French. If you are near Gout, walk there and use that to justify the calories for a taste of perfection!

Yelp
Ran into this wonderful boulangerie that has excellent bread, desserts and lunch pastries as well. It was very modern, clean and welcoming. Wish we had one at every city that we visited in Japan.
