We were urban "trekking" (quite literally, because of the transportation strike) to visit Sacre Coeur and stumbled upon this place. To say that I was starving (and my feet were killing me) would be an understatement. We weren't up for stopping for a full-on lunch/meal, and all I wanted was something simple that we could eat while walking - when you only have two days in Paris, you make the most of it!
We both got the ham and cheese panini. It's a tight space when you walk-in, and there's only enough standing room for so many people. I somehow (luckily) got to sit on the only high top table in the restaurant - a welcome reprieve and waited while they heated up the panini. When I took my first bite, the sky opened up, the angel's sang and I may have shed a tear. It was warm (and keep in mind, it's December in Paris, so just a touch cold), there were fresh herbs in the cheese (parsley? basil? hard to tell) and the bread OMG THE BREAD. You must stop here if you're in the Montmarte area, order a panini and prepare yourself for a spiritual eating experience.
