Mauro Colagreco Is Making the French Riviera a Destination for Gnocchi

"I observed that Amarines sources its bread from local-loved Boulangerie Veziano in Old Antibes, reflecting the restaurant’s reliance on neighborhood artisans." - Mary Winston Nicklin

Unfortunately, our experience at this bakery was disappointing. We made an effort to speak French out of respect, but our attempt was met with an unkind attitude. Not speaking French perfectly does not mean that we do not understand it. We also felt uncomfortable seeing the croissants handled after money was handled with the same gloves. We were informed that card payments are not accepted for purchases under €10. Fortunately, this kind of experience does not reflect the general attitude we have encountered in France, especially in this region. In the end, we did purchase the products, but we chose not to eat them, as we did not want to put our health at risk. Therefore, we cannot comment on their quality.

The pissaladiere was amazing!! Would’ve liked to try more things, but there was not much left when we got there. Highly recommend this bakery!

Great bakery round the corner of our apartment. Lots locals go, queuing to buy the bread👌

What a traditional French bakery is; the good stuff sells out fast; tarte au citron absolutely au point. The darker loaf you can but as a quarter and have it sliced, absolutely delish. The Tarte aux blettes (i think thats how it’s spelled, is moreish and filled with a variety of green veg. Finally the best local croissants and pain au chocolat. well worth the morning dropin and queue.

I visited several times during my stay in this Old town of Antibes. First visit at 0730 am no people waiting and lots of selection, but surprised that min. Card payment is €5 - understood we bought the traditional ones Baguette and Croissant tastes good not fantastic. Next visit was about 0930 am waited around 10 min. bought baguette croissant and pain de chocolate - the Baguette tastes very different from the one I bought which many other reviewers pointed out that there is no air-gaps inside so it is more like a scone very denser bread. I like the way of working as they start early and finish early and respect the traditional way of working. They close on Monday and Tuesday. 4.5/5.0 * if you go early, pick among the fantastic selections of breads

Very small, take away only, bakery. Location is on a very quiet part of the town, far from the busy center. Few tourists or locals about. When we visited, 11am on Saturday, there was no line at all. But yes, supplies were depleted, shelves a bit light, selection meager. The pasadilere was ok, 2E, although the fish taste is not for me, nor the oily paper it comes in. Croissants are good but a tad old. Best to come early. I'm just not sure why this place is famous in Google though. Epi D'Or pastisserie is much better. Bigger, more selection, and a chronic short line into the street. And it's in the bustling part of town.

This was a disappointment. There was a problem with the bulk fermentation of the baguette, either it was too short or there was a problem with the yeast, I've never seen such a brick of a baguette apart from my beginning attempts at baking bread years ago. The pain au chocolat was extremely dry and bready, with only one row of cheap dark chocolate. Maybe this is the place to get a pissaladière, but a baguette or puff-pastry stuff is to be avoided.

During our stay in Antibes we tried as many of the bakeries as we could. Towards the end of our trip this is the bakery we kept coming back to. By far and consistently the best as well as reasonably priced. Limited selection but theirs is on another level. Their croissants are simply amazing. This is the kind of business I like to support. Be sure to get there as early as possible as they will sell out and close at 1pm.

Yelp
Oh my god, the pastries here are sooooooooooo good. This place is a must have if you visit Antibes. I mean, I crave these french delicacies several times a week, clearly I need to make another trip to France. ;) Antibes is beautiful and picturesque, and the location of this bakery is perf. People are extremely kind. So many cute little shops. AMAZING farmers market right up the street. So much to see so much to do so much to eat. Make a day out of it.

Yelp
A beautiful setting for a small boulangerie and patisserie. The store had a steady stream of local patrons served with a friendly familiarity. The selection was wide for a small shop with decorative breads and the standards. The setting alone in old Antibes make this worth the visit.

Yelp
Best bakery in the South of France! Jean Paul and his team are incredible and his baked goods are a work of art! A must when you are in Antibes.
