Overestimated Quality I know that it's a very old history cafe but I've never been to it. I know that the rating is very high too. Why? Because the prices of the products are scary. The cafe is so small that it doesn't look like a good place to couch. Bought a pastry finally as I am trying to review the pastries of the Cambridge town centre. In terms of pastries, the main rival is Stir Bakery and Aromi nearby! Let's put it onto a scale. It's 120g for this £4.50 pastry. It was crazily sweet. So sweet that I couldn't taste the pistachio and chocolate flavoured filling. Just deadly sweet sugar paste. The pastries of Stir and EL&N London is expensive too. But they have more fillings, less sweetness and tastes more obvious. Quite underwhelmed by the performance. As it provides the most expensive pastries in Cambridge. But still, the staff provided good service. They were very patient employees.

Pretty average and on the expensive side. Nice setting and there is seating upstairs as well. The cinnamon bun wasn’t too moist and tasty, nothing to write home about. The latte was actually quite disappointing given the good reviews of the place - mostly tastes of milk and lacks any distinctive coffee taste.

We had a flat white and an iced latte, both of which were incredible and just the way we liked them. However, I noticed small flies flying around the shop. We initially planned to sit downstairs, but the number of flies was too much for me, so we moved upstairs. We ate half of a croissant and then realized there was a fly on it. We informed the staff, and the staff member apologized and offered us another pastry or coffee. We opted for the coffee. She handled the situation with kindness, which we appreciated. However, I felt that if there were a significant number of flies around the shop, something should have been done about it. The photo I posted of a wall with flies was taken upstairs, where the situation wasn't as bad, but imagine five times more of these in a smaller space while you're trying to enjoy your coffee downstairs. It's not exactly pleasant. Lastly, there were four ladies working downstairs. They weren’t very busy, yet no one cleared the dirty cups and plates on our table from the previous customers until our coffees arrived.

Best oat flat white I think I’ve ever had. I’ll dream about this coffee. No sugar needed. Comes in a very small cup so feels doable to have a second coffee after (or before if journeying into Cambridge). Cost: £4.30 I read the baristas are trained for 6months and if that’s true, it shows. It also took a few minutes for it to come out, they really take their time. I lovvvve the vibes here. Inside has a chill, indie, boho feel with candles, sanded wood furniture, and beautiful art and oil paintings. I took my coffee to go but this is a great atmosphere to dine in and make art, write, journal, be creative. Cant wait to come back! I also want to try the potion, their take on a non caffeinated chai latte. And maybe a pastry.

I had a double espresso for £3.60. It was just good enough to not make you gag. Realistically, in a milk-based coffee it would be fine, but as an espresso, not nice. circa 5/10 for the coffee. Cafe is nice. Staff are very nice. Please offer some real craft coffee to drink though.

Lovely little coffee shop with upstairs seating. Staff are incredibly kind and helpful. Hot chocolate was excellent 10/10 and beautiful presentation - my oat cortado was great and well dialled in.

Google
I can only recommend the Bould Brothers Cafe. Absolutely cute coffeeshop in a small narrow house. The coffee was very tasty, only the steaming of the oat milk didn't work properly (pictured) and could be improved. On the other hand, the cow's milk flat white was delicious and the cinnamon bun tasted great as well. You don't really expect it, but the second floor is a great place to sit and it's not as crowded as the first floor, which I found very pleasant. The two girls at the counter were very relaxed and courteous. Keep up the good work!

Google
All of the coffees that came out looked incredible - super clean latte art which tells me they know what they’re doing! I ordered a cappuccino with oat milk (an industry standard) and my coffee didn’t look appetizing at all (see picture). The first one I send back because it was boiling hot, which tells me they overheated the oat milk. I asked for another one, which they kindly gave, which looked the exact same. The coffee itself wasn’t bad but didn’t taste interesting or even had a distinctive flavor profile. I think as a barista you should be able to properly steam and pour oat milk, but I give 3 starts because all the other (cow milk) coffees that came out looked a lot better

Yelp
I stayed in Cambridge for 5 days and I went to this coffee shop every single day! Why? Because it's excellent! It's the first coffee shop to open early in the morning (8am) on the Main Street. The service is fantastic but the best part is...obviously their coffee! My latte was consistently delicious every morning. Creamy, sweet and flavorful. What a great find! I did try a few other coffee shops in Cambridge but this one was by far the best one!

Yelp
Fantastic little coffee shop in Cambridge. Perfect for meeting a friend or grabbing something on the go. High-quality espresso - my flat white was delicious.

Yelp
This place is the bees knees. So delicious that we went back twice in one day to get their "Magic" and Earl Grey tea. The customer service here is through the roof. Super charming, helpful, and fun to be around. There is seating outside, inside, and even upstairs if you want more room to sprawl. Very aesthetically pleasing with great music. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Small shop but wonderful coffee! Excellent customer service! Good desserts. Fair prices. Off the main road so we might have missed it if we hadn't parked where we did. I'm glad we found it!

Yelp
Adorable little coffee shop! Ordered a Soy Latte and it was nice in texture and creamy, however espresso didn't seem too strong! Service was okay.

Yelp
Great coffee shop in Cambridge! We only got flat whites to go, but they were delicious! Good selection of pastries and super friendly staff!

Yelp
Ordered latte and iced latte couple of times. Texture was all great! Positioned in city centre, so convenient to take a detour and get yourself a smooth and refreshing treat!

Yelp
Great tasting coffee but came here on the strong reviews from across the web. I was disappointed to find the oat flat white had no latte art. The atmosphere and staff were great though!

Yelp
All around excellent. I had a decaf piccolo, which was like a small latte, but I didn't miss a bigger size due to flavor and craft. My daughter had a steamed milk with a sprinkle of cocoa, which was just the right touch. The pumpkin bread was decent (but I'm a tough sell as I don't care for loaf breads). The best part was the friendliness of the baristas. (Perhaps they were the owners?) I've never come across any coffee shop workers this friendly, relaxed, ready to explain the menu, or glad that you've stopped by, and they were kind to my daughter also. Even if the coffee was mediocre, I'd be inclined to come back for customer service and friendliness alone. Lucky for me, the coffee is excellent. Update: Returned to Bould Brothers a week later. Very good again; I had filter coffee, and husband had a cappuccino. I love that the baristas bring the coffee to wherever you're sitting. The woman next to us was just getting up to go downstairs and order a second drink; the barista delivering our drinks offered to take her order and bring it up to her. The food selection was much wider this early in the day; the chocolate and powdered sugar cookies looked oh-so-yummy, but I refrained. My two suggestions are to get rid of the bar on the first floor; it would open up more space. The second is to consider wifi. I would have loved to have stayed to work and buy a second coffee and perhaps sample the food, but I had to find somewhere else to do my work. I applaud the effort to provide a tech-free space, but it's worth considering that BB may lose customers like me to wifi-equipped coffee shops.

Yelp
Very nice baristas indeed which is extremely rare for Cambridge but makes sense since they're foreigners. Seems like a cool place at first except the coffee is weak, food is weird at least to my palette and the decor up stairs is particularly odd. Has potential considering lack of good options in Cambridge but I wouldn't go back as coffee is weak sauce!

Yelp
The coffee tastes like little flakes of magic are used while brewing. Truly the best cappuccino I've had (is pricey but worth it).

Yelp
Great flat white and nice staff! Good music taste as well. Spent a whole afternoon here and felt cozy.

Yelp
This is my favourite coffee shop in town! The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the coffee is INSANE!!! There's not always a spot to sit but it's right opposite the round church so you can sit in the garden of the church and enjoy your delicious coffee.

Yelp
Outstanding coffee! Great light food items. One of my all time favs.
