A Worcester original! Small capacity, fast service, inexpensive. Enjoyed the cheeseburger! Hungry patrons should consider the “Bully Special” breakfast platter

Google
This place is a classic diner - Great food! Fast service! That's all you need to know! (I was heading north thru MA and happened across this place. It was so good that when we headed back south, we PURPOSELY set the GPS to stop here again!)

Atmosphere: 5 Stars! I know, yes I know--the Boulevard's atmosphere may be a debatable topic. My kind of place: no frills, just good ole fashion "Diner Experience." No debate in regards to the delicious zitti, meatballs, chicken soup and of course the accompanying fresh Italian bread. After about 10 years, I decided to visit one of my "go to" haunts--- the famous Boulevard Diner-- a Landmark Diner since 1936. The genuine arrowheads that I observed on the shelf were a clue --- this diner is historic. Frankly, I was extremely impressed with my return to the Boulevard Diner; it seemed like I was traveling back on a time machine, a time when "hot ticket" Ronnie was behind the counter. Tonight, I am bestowing praise on my multitasking server extraordinaire: Erica George. Besides the outstanding food, reasonable prices and large portions---I truly enjoyed the conversation; thanks, life changing spiritual stories fed my soul.

Google
What a great little diner, with tons of history. Generational Family run place. Very tiny place, seems like a train car converted into a diner, lots of charm. Few booths and counter space. I was in the mood for some Strawberry Shortcake and saw they offered. Very tasty! People watching while there was fun, staff was super friendly and there were many people getting pancakes, since they serve breakfast all day. Great place, you definitely need to check it out.

March 2025: Great food & service in an operating museum built in 1936. DON'T MISS THIS CLASSIC DINER EXPERIENCE. Had the lasagna this time. Was delicious. Service was fast and friendly. If you are in Worcester, this is a must see place. March 2024: Just had the Eggplant Parmesan, and it was delicious. Very fast service. Classic diner atmosphere. Not upscale. A lot of history here. If you like diners, you will love this place.

If you are looking for an authentic diner with delicious home-style meals and friendly service, this is the place for you! Felt like stepping into a time machine-- it was a really enjoyable experience. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food, and I particularly enjoyed the Ben Omelet: kielbasa, baked beans & cheese. SO delicious!

Google
This gem of a diner on Shrewsbury Street is open 24 hours a day. I visited at 5ish AM on a Saturday and it was packed - and for good reason. Fast service, great food, and a lively vibe coming from the diversity of hungry folks. It's got on street parking, friendly servers and cooks, and you can get a filling breakfast for about $15. Totally worth a visit, even if it's just to admire the old-school feeling of a legitimate diner car.

Google
A Worcester staple for generations. Hit the blvd diner for a 2 pm lunch and it was packed with good mix of old timers and next gen patrons. Ate some all day breakfast items and they did not disappoint. The homefries are a classic.

Yelp
Drunk food ... that's what you get here. There is a lot of variety but nothing is done well. When you have been out at the bars in Worcester and need a little something to absorb the alcohol ... and a plate of sausage, meatballs and pasta sounds like a good idea at 1 a.m. ... you come here. Ypu also get to see slme of the hardest working people on the planet navigate a small space while cooking for a packed restaurant. This is one of the few train car diners out there, popular in the 1930's and actuslly made near Worcester, these train car diners are a stalle of central Massachusetts. This isn't the New York or New Jersey style diner, its something uniquely its own New England setting. Its alwsys packed here. You'll be sitting elbow to elbow with boisterous and well lubricated club and bargoers on small yet surprisingly comfortabke stools at the counter ... or may be lucky enough to score one of the incredibly unckmfortable wooden booths, where the staff gets to watch 4 people attempt to navigate elbows and knees to eat their hangover saving food. The food here is not what you'd hope to get at any other restaurant. However, you can't knock it because the dry toast, rubbery omelettes and ketchup-like red sauce are one of the only options this late at night standing between you and a morning full of headache and sluggishness. Nothing you eat here will be good ... but it won't be bad either. Just as athletes and body buikders eat food as fuel, with little actual thought to the taste .. that's your mission here. This is a rite of passage for anyone who has lived in, or near, one of the worst small cities in the USA. Embrace and enjoy the tradition and the wonderfully vintahe interior, virtually unchanged with time since the 1930s ... 1990s ... and today. The only exception to that rule is that they mercifully started to take credit cards recently, making it a lot easier to make the call to walk through those rattling wooden doors at 2 a.m. still thinking about almost scoring at a bar.

Yelp
Authentic diner experience, with the ambiance and organized chaos of a bustling diner. Mushroom omelette was awesome along with the sausage gravy and biscuits and Italian toast. Friendly service!!!

Tina M.

Yelp
Very disappointing. We were excited to go to this iconic diner. The staff was very friendly. However, the food... not very good. My friend ordered an advertised omelette and asked for no mushrooms. She got mushrooms. When she mentioned it to the young waitress, the girls seem dumbfounded and didn't know what to do so my friend said just forget it. I'll pick them out. I ordered the eggs Benedict. The English muffins were hard. I could've used a steak knife to cut them. The Canadian bacon was wafer thin. And the poached eggs were an attempt at poaching eggs . The yolks were broken and there were white cooked egg on the plate most whites were non existent. When I order eggs Benedict I like to see two poached eggs on top of the Canadian bacon and English muffins . The hollandaise was very watery and tasteless. Some of the home fries were not cooked well and were on the hard side and flavorless, no spices at all. We will not return.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch on a long road trip between NY and Maine with my kid. Loved the atmosphere of the old diner car. Although a very tiny place, we were able to get a booth. The menu items are all on the board above the counter, and on cards attached to the outside of the board. I'd rather have a nice printed menu, but this was fine. My daughter just wanted a plate of fries, and I wanted hot dogs, so we shared the hot dog platter. The dogs were very nicely grilled, the relish was sweet. Ketchup and mustard on the table. The fries were pretty good too! I think the ketchup had gone a little off, though. Service was that kind of brusque-friendly you'd expect for a little hole in the wall like this. Great local experience at a fantastic bargain.

Yelp
Have been going to the boulevard diner for more than 40 years. Always loved it, still do. I was gob smacked when I recently went there and it was closed. The Boulevard not open 24/7. The city is lesser for it. Love the place and will always go there. Every one should.

John C.

Yelp
Good food. Good service Great menu realty liked old fashion look. Bservice was Great

Abigail M.

Yelp
Went here with my boyfriend for breakfast and the food such as the home fries were beyond greasy. The waitress asked us what we wanted to eat before even handing us menus to which my boyfriend had to ask "What do you have". I mean call me crazy but usually restaurants give you menus before you choose what to eat. My boyfriend's iced coffee had pieces of hard stale bread in it. After telling the waitress she laughed it off and claimed it's because they keep the bread above the ice machine. Soooo don't keep the bread above the ice machine? Idk common sense. The food is underwhelming and overpriced. I know it's a diner but this place is crusty. Looks like it hasn't been cleaned since the 1970s. If you're looking for a great diner experience go to Miss Worcester!

Paul B.

Yelp
I would recommend this place every day of the week for Enni and every meal. Particularly the breakfast are wonderful. I've had most of the omelettes the French toast on the waffles as well as the pancakes. They are all excellent. I personally recommend the fat boy burner I think it's one of the most underrated burgers in Worcester.

Jay J.

Yelp
Just a great late late night eat or grub awesome service especially at that time of night fast quick and tasty.

Rebecca H.

Yelp
We ordered breakfast from here for delivery a few days ago. We leaned more towards appetizers rather than mains and they certainly offer a wide variety of juicy shit: jalapeno poppers, fried mac and cheese bites, fried ravioli, fries, CHEESY fries, I can't remember anything else and it's frustratingly difficult to find their menu online so that will have to suffice. We were relatively conservative with our ordering this time. I snagged an order of their fries (large sized), fried mac and cheese bites, and the good ol' entree version of ravioli. The fries certainly were large and plentiful however not seasoned in any capacity. I could look on the bright side and appreciate the lack of any sog whatsoever but they were so dry that I knew if I tried to sprinkle some salt and pepper, it would just fall off. They were disappointing and flavorless. Thankfully condiments came to our rescue. The fried mac and cheese bites were tasty but if you reference the photo I have included, more like flat triangles than actual balls which increases the surface area and decreases the volume to surface area ratio, greatly decreasing the quantity of MAC. I won't complain about the mac because it was good, but they are not a critical order (when talking about fried mac and cheese, I feel like that says something). The ravioli was just meh. The ravioli themselves were aggressively soft and I feel like I've had better marinara from a bottle. I will accept responsibility for the fact that I ordered ravioli from a diner so I don't know what I was expecting. If I ordered from here again, I would stick with the diner classics and leave the other stuff on the menu.

Yelp
Just moved back home to MA. This place is genuine, local and delicious. Caroline / Chef are the BEST. True local experience. If you're not a fan then you got something wrong with ya kid.

Tim L.

Yelp
This place is on the National Historic Registry for 23 years and should include the family staff. All 3 Generations represented here and they are funny and out of a film noir period sometime between 1930 and 1955. This is a period Diner. No tweezer food with a sprig of parsley here. Not gourmet but very delicious cooked to order food better than any chain. What chain diner serves the Italian breakfast with hot sauce, chili pepper flakes and parmigiana? A locals and friends spot where Guests are welcomed.

Lizzie M.

Yelp
Cute little diner, very cool original decor inside. The staff was soooo nice. I'm a vegan and they didn't have much I could eat but the waitress/cook said she would make me pasta with a mix of veggies in marinara. It was good food, but I'm mostly impressed with the hospitality. My father ordered a standard breakfast dish of eggs, sausage, toast, hash browns and he enjoyed it. Would definitely go back.

McKenzie C.

Yelp
A tasty dinner in a cute diner with terrific staff. Can't beat the combination! Had the lamb shank and warm, freshly out of the oven, apple crisp. The staff was so welcoming. The diner has been run since 1936 by three generations of the same family. The charming woman behind the counter is the granddaughter. A real find in Worcester.

Cory Z.

Yelp
My fiancée and i were skeptical of this place. I can't lie, we judged a book by its cover. We even walked in and were the only ones there. It was awkward and very quiet, the waitress was taking our order from behind the counter. It was small and cramped as well. BUT MAN WAS THE FOOD OFF THE CHAIN!! We both got omelettes and home fries and i swear i inhaled it instead of eating it. 10/10 would recommend to anyone passing through or staying in the area. Staff was incredibly friendly and quick to serve. Will be back.

Maddy M.

Yelp
Christian the server works his ass off. There's so much chaos past a certain time here and the service is so efficient.

Mike R.

Yelp
The Boulevard diner never lets you down. Whether it's breakfast, lunch or a 2am snacking. The food is always on point and delicious. Had the bully Christo for the first time today. It was amazing, I don't know why I've never had it before, but now I'll struggle to choose between the Italian breakfast and the bully Christo when there in the morning. Always on point....

Marco J.

Yelp
The food was fantastic, the service was fantastic, and the way the diner was set up is fantastic. I ordered this Italian breakfast and it was a delicious. It's a very homely environment and welcoming as well. If you're ever in Worcester I absolutely recommend stopping by at least once.

Randy R.

Yelp
greatest burger in the state of massachusetts . the best chefs in all mass i been coming here for years will never stop . flavor & tradition never fails

Karmen K.

Yelp
Normally, I LOVE THIS PLACE. Never have I ever had any complaints. This morning I went in with my partner for the whole diner experience. This place is normally up beat and the staff are very nice. Our order was placed by Lisa. I ordered a big bully which includes 3 eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, toast and your choice of pancakes or French toast ( I chose French toast ) my partner ordered an order of pancakes with bananas and whipped cream and a side order of hash browns and bacon. After I placed my order I circled back to Lisa to add that if she can we'd like the hashbrowns crispy. Once we recieved our order... I immediately notice instead of pancakes we got waffles.. and instead of hashbrowns? We got home fries. I tell one of the workers about the waffle mistake who proceeds to inform Lisa whom is now in the back kitchen. Lisa comes out and loudly says "She ordered waffles not pancakes that's what she said" proceeds to repete loudly throughout the diner that I ordered waffles when I clearly ordered pancakes. At this point Im already irritated with the service. They take away the waffles to replace with pancakes. They also take the plate of home fries ( that was supposed to be crispy hashbrowns ) to add more home fries? I continue to eat trying to ignore what just happened. Lisa then to new incoming customers ( I guess they were regulars ) she's loudly asking them "HEY YOU WANT THESE WAFFLES? On the house Apparently they're a mistake" asked every other customer if they'd like toast or to be topped off with coffee EXCEPT for our table. The one table who never even received their toast that came with the order. I have NEVER felt like such a bother or any indifferent from any of the staffs/ customers at this location until today. I left crying because I was singled out and so embarrassed at the way this lady treated me. Im giving 2 stars because normally this place is awesome. However today, the way that I was singled out and judged as well as embarrassed? Today will be my last day coming in here personally.

Sandra M.

Yelp
Ordered a cheeseburger was good was craving mozzarella sticks never had mozzarella sticks so horrible tasted like dough and no flavor i just could not eat them the fries we're good

Fred D.

Yelp
Food and service are great when they are open. Due to inability to hire help, they are open 24 hours only on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Their Website has this info but YELP a is not up to date.

Jose L.

Yelp
The food is amazing and doesn't matter what you order it will be good. All the staff is super friendly and helpful.

BD H.

Yelp
Long overdue review. Watch the prices on your bill people they are known to charge you whatever they feel like! Many old school residents from the street don't even eat there anymore. My elderly aunt got charged like $25 for a few takeout meatballs. It's a big world out there to put up with this BS! There are plenty of better diners and honest!

Mary C.

Yelp
Ohh I ordered the meat ball sandwich- it was served on ginormous slices of Italian bread - tasty soft meatballs ! Waitstaff very nice and they work well together My pic is from the clean plate cub!

Brooke L.

Yelp
the servers are really nice and the food is great as well !! the waffle was very buttery and delicious. my friends got the steak and eggs and eggs benedict and they both said they were great. the diner itself is very cute and i loved the vibe :)

Chad L.

Yelp
Went in and there were maybe 8 ppl there. Got French Toast and when it was delivered...batter was still mushy in the toast. Like they forgot to put the paddle thing on top of them to compress it. Highly unlikely ever to return to it. Took two bites of 4 it and paid, tipped and went to another place where the food is cooked properly.

Brett L.

Yelp
Small little diner. Breakfast food takes less then 5 min quick fast bite to eat. Not he best breakfast but it hits the spot. Could use some cleaning. Looks like grease has been caked on those fans for 80 years.

Mark L.

Yelp
Cheap prices, but poor service and food. It does have that old school diner feel if you're into that

Lynsky K.

Yelp
Oh my Lord your food is so authentic and delicious. I've had it twice in one week and want more LOL I've had the manicotti and meatballs. Absolutely delicious tender meatball, and your sauce has that Zhang that I like not too acidic either. Perfect amount of cheese and flavoring, maybe just a side of Parmesan cheese would make it 100%. But your bread is so soft is that homemade? I would say so. My husband had the chicken and broccoli with garlic sauce. He said that the flavors are so pronounced and join together so well. He also had your American chop Suey. It was quite filling so I didn't mind finishing it for him LOL. Amazing prices as well! I just love Boulevard diner.

Christine K.

Yelp
Went here for the first time today and I'm not really sure whether I would return or not. I wanted to give 3 and a half stars but since I can't do halves I just did 3 cause I don't feel like it's a 4 star place. The food tastes OK it's definitely not anything special but the portions are large and the prices are reasonable. Their home fries really could use some more seasoning cause I had to pile on salt & pepper just to get some type of taste out of them. The place itself looks like it could use some cleaning up and a few renovations. Our waitress was really nice (completely forgot her name) I had no complaints about her. If they updated this place, cleaned up and started using more seasoning in their food then I wouldn't mind giving it another go.

Will H.

Yelp
A real historic diner car open since 1936 and still family owned. The food was excellent. Classic American breakfast and Italian for lunch and diner. Highly recommended. It is cozy, great for a party of two or three but don't bring your bridge club and expect a table.

Collin B.

Yelp
Decent spot to grab breakfast. Its an old place and geta pretty cold, we were freezing when we went in and had to keep jackets on. The seats are also incredibly small. The food was okay, didnt come out hot, kind of warm and wasnt my favorite but it wasnt bad however my girlfriend had a long hair in her home fries which was an unpleasant surprise. Its got a cool atmosphere and old diner vibe being in a train car, but probably wont be back for the food.

Mike B.

Yelp
If you are looking for a hometown feel, look no further. Lisa and her staff make you welcome into their kitchen and serve you as if you are family. Door is excellent from breakfast "your way" to meatballs and Italian dishes. We eat breakfast, lunch and cater our corporate lunches of meatball sandwiches, ziti with and without chicken and super salads. Give it a try if you are Looking for a little bit of "home" in Worcester.

Daniel C.

Yelp
Was in town for business and needed some lunch. Found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I pull up and I'm surprised to find it to be an old fashioned diner. The place is loud for it's size and there is no menu to read from you have to just look at the wall to see the menu. The staff is milling around, they all take turns talking to tables and the counter. No one in particular took my order I just told the one girl what I wanted. A different one brought me the food and yet another one cleared my plate and took my money. I ordered the Chicken and Broccoli over Pena Pasta with Garlic and Oil. I don't recommend this the past was dried out and had little to no garlic and oil on it. The soup was good and the other food being served in the place looked good. If you can take the noise, the fact no menu is given to you and the no AC its a good place for a meal. I will go back and try a different menu item.

David D.

Yelp
So this place is classic, plain and simple. Every time I come here I get in a good mood. It's so small and quaint and packs in so much character. It's classic Americana and the food is fantastic. My go to is Salisbury steak with home fries and gravy, it's the definition of comfort food. My wife gets the bacon and cheese omelet. There's just no place finer than the boulevard diner.

Patrick B.

Yelp
simplicity is the word. you order what you want (and how would like it) and it gets done. freshly cooked and served hot, what more could you ask for? So many choices and allowed choices nothing out of the realm. You want pancakes with a meatball? sure, you want french toast with some home fries got that too...simple diner food with a slice of you goes a long way, I shall return

Kristen P.

Yelp
Classic diner with awesome comfort/breakfast food. Staff is super friendly. Even though the menu is gigantic, everything is good! Seating can be tough during peak times since it's a small diner car, but worth the wait or check it out during an off-hour!

Larissa A.

Yelp
Server was a doll. She was super nice the food was delicious I had a cup of soup and breakfast Siri this was my first time here it was recommended via a customer of a place I have breakfast at in Connecticut. I got the Chop Suey that was a special today with sausage to go for my husband. Definitely will be back with hubby to enjoy more of their food

Greg H.

Yelp
It's a classic. You go see a show and then you go to Boulevard. Went there this week. Got fries and wings. The wings are battered, Like little fried chicken legs. Not so great for my gluten sensitive partner. The fries are nothing to write home about. But it was all hot, and freshly cooked. The staff was nice, if a bit harried. We left with warm food in our tummies at midnight. Win.

Laurie B.

Yelp
Hangover breakfast. Delicious! Huge portions. 3 egg omelettes with spinach, tomatoes, onions, feta. Meatballs!! Who would have thought?? Delicious. Toast perfectly toasted Italian bread. And the perfect diner experience. We sat at the counter and enjoyed the food and the atmosphere! Can't wait to go back!

John J.

Yelp
Been here many times throughout the years. This time I order the Bulls Christo Corned Beef Hash. Waitress charged me $18.50 saying these are 2 separate things. BS! This woman then got her boyfriend' who was at the restaurant to try and intimidate me! F U! I will never go back

Harshal T.

Yelp
This review could help of a few vegetarians( Eggitarians) out there. So late night breakfast is the best food one can have. I went for the home fries with toast. The fries were seasoned with perfection not too hot, but they had a uniqueness of their own. The portion was more than sufficient. The Italian toast is perfected with a generous amount of butter. Pancakes is what I would try when I visit them again. All in all, if you looking for great hospitality(there were two guys around) and good food, you should definitely go to this particular diner. Shalom!

William I.

Yelp
Today was my first time going there with my mom It was really good very delicious My mom had meatloaf and I had omelette with ham and mushrooms and blueberry muffin they were awesome Very Friendly waitresses Cozy and ancient Trolley I will definitely return again when I am in town

Chris B.

Yelp
I have now been to this spot at least 10 times and have eaten the chop suey or pasta and meatballs. Served with a few fresh slices of soft Italian bread and butter. Food is consistently delicious and always a decent crowd inside. Service always friendly and remembers my order each visit lol.

JA S.

Yelp
Came here for a late night/early morning breakfast after a night of drinking and had been expecting great things. Unfortunately what I was served up (both in service and in food) was less than desirable. Actually I'm being too generous here. It was TERRIBLE. I had the chocolate chip pancakes, home fries and sausage. The pancakes were floury, dry af, virtually tasteless with burnt chocolate chips at the bottom. The home fries were drenched in oil and just plain gross. Service was horrible. Slow and less than friendly. All up this place sucks big time!

David R.

Yelp
Notes: Open late, great pricing and welcoming Memory tells me the many times I found myself at the Boulevard after a great night with friends. In many ways, that is exactly how the Boulevard comes across, like that great friend who makes sure you get home OK. It certainly has that old school 1950's diner feel along with great burger & fries, a heaping helping of toast, eggs over easy, home fries...you know the deal. Its a landmark in Worcester worth checking out once, twice or when you find yourself stumbling around looking for late night cooking.

Michelle O.

Yelp
I'm not sure what the deal is with the negative reviews regarding the service or interior is here. It's a diner, it's small and you can reach over and grab your drink from the counter. If this type of experience doesn't appeal to you, don't go to a diner. The menu is on the wall and is vast (again this is not a negative). Service has been great every visit and I've had different waitresses and staff working the grill each time. Breakfast is good and portions are large. American chopped suey is veryyyyy good and reasonably priced. Another go to is the cheeseburger platter with fries and pickles. Place is 24/7 and prepared food is made daily, so at the very least, skip the likes of IHOP and Denny's and get a decent breakfast here.

Sean M.

Yelp
2.79 Stars I had an Italian omelette with "gravy". When asked if I wanted it, I hesitated, but it made it more complete. The cook passed me the red pepper shaker and the parmigiana cheese, these condiments and the Scali bread just seem to fit. I sat at the counter and service was quick. Eleven bucks for the large portions and coffee still seemed a bit pricey, but it did fill me up. There is an extensive menu for breakfast, with signature omelettes named after local colleges. * Classic Diner look and feel. * Bit of a Townie vibe but friendly enough. * Parking is tight on the street, public lot up the street.
