"For a paddle that’s just as beautiful as it is remote, it’s hard to top the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness in northeast Minnesota. The wilderness area, which is composed of 1,500 miles of canoe routes over 19,000 acres and 1,100 bodies of water, is accessible primarily by canoe. Here in the deep north, boaters are rewarded with scenery that’s still wild and unparalleled solitude." - Evie Carrick Evie Carrick Evie Carrick is a writer and editor who’s lived in five countries and visited well over 50. Incredible! Had an amazing trip up there, 8 days. 80 miles paddled. Bear trap river was tough, expect a bit of bushwhacking. Early September was tough for top water fishing, as all the fish moved deeper out.

I feel in love with this whole area. Driving Gunflint Trail is a must. Take the dirt roads that run off it for some gorgeous lakes and hikes. Great camping. Best Kayaking. Can’t wait to go back and spend a whole summer there. Take plenty of repellent. You’ll see plenty of wildlife.

Best place to find yourself in Minnesota! Visit once and you’ll want more. Call in few friends along and the magic of this place will boost.

I had an absolutely amazing experience at The Boundary Waters. We canoed in as a group to Wind Lake and camped there for the week. We explored the nearby lakes and even toughed out a pretty intense rain storm. It was fantastic! This is a great place and a wonderful experience for those willing to get off the beaten path.

The Boundary Waters is just absolutely stunning. It’s incredibly beautiful and unique. It’s such a blessing to be able to camp here and be out in nature! It’s unlike any other place in the world, and the water is just pristine. Unfortunately, I found myself having to pick up a lot of trash from previous campers. I wish more people would value the land more and follow Leave No Trace principals.

Heaven on earth! All the fish you can catch, very peaceful, and just a great way to get away and into the "leave no trace" wilderness. There are hundreds, if not thousands of lakes to portage to; each with different fish and amazing campsites. Saw the northern lights on one trip and the stars are AMAZING. Each site is equipped with a firepit and open-air pit latrine toilets that are a safe distance from each lake. I wish I could live out here.

Most awesome place I've ever been. My two and myself plan a trip every year. Now my grandson is going with us. It appeared during COVID-19 a lot of people trashed some campsites. But, we just packed some of the trash they left behind. I really like the Leave No Trace.

I think even the least outdoorsy person would be enchanted by the BWCA and it’s pristine waters and wilderness. Time and budgetary constraints (but mostly time) didn’t allow us to canoe and camp deep into the backcountry like we wanted but it was still a wonderful experience. Once you get off Fall Lake it’s pretty quiet and you don’t run into many people. The scenery is spectacular and the quietness is a great respite from everyday noise and distractions. We will return someday and fulfill our dreams of getting deep into the wilderness and completely unplugging from the modern world and I can’t wait. Now, please, for love of all that is holy and sacred, LEAVE YOUR BLUETOOTH SPEAKER AT HOME! No one wants to hear your music, no matter what you are listening to, when we’re in nature and trying to get away from all the hubbub. If you just can’t go without BTS or Taylor for 48 hours then bring some earbuds and enjoy it alone. Your taste in music isn’t a great as you think it is.
