OMG! FAKE RESORT:|First off we booked this hotel on expedia back in November to travel at the end of January. All seemed well. We rented a car from Montego Bay and drove to Negril. First red flag; Google maps took us to the middle of the street right before the bridge where 7 mile beach starts. There are no hotels on either side of the street. Tried calling the number for the Aqua Verde and it was also a fake. After 5 attempts we gave up and drove up and down 7 mike beach looking for this Aqua Verde. No such hotel! My wife then spotted a sign for Bourbon Beach Resort. As that was part of the name, we stopped in. I asked the first person that appeared to work there if he could help me locate the aqua verde bourbon beach resort. While my wife waited in the car, I walked inside the bar with him. He told me to wait for the Manager. After a few minutes wait, a young fellow came out of an office and came to talk with me. I explained to him that I was looking for the Aqua Verde Bourbon Beach Resort and he stated "this is it"! As it was on the beach I said ok and we discussed how there was no sign for the aqua verde. Second Red Flag: They could not locate my booking; I asked to see the room. The man asked me what type of room I booked. I showed him my booking for a king bed. He took me upstairs above the bar and showed me to a room that closely resembled the picture in the booking. As I walked in I got hit which a terrible smell! The room was quite run down. Third Red Flag: The bathroom shower was missing the shower head so just a pipe was sticking out! The TV did not work and the bed sheets had stains on the top sheet, I pulled the cover back and there was hair and dirt in the bed! I told the young man that these sheets needed to be changed and of course he said no problem. The young man was quite nice and made a great effort to fix up the room the best he could. We went back down stairs. He Then had me fill out a one page booking in sheet. I was asked how I was paying and I replied that everything was fully paid through Expedia. He then told me " One thing though, is that we party every night until around 3 AM." While alarms were going off in my head, I went out and got my wife and took her to show her the space. As we walked up the stairs we both took a closer look and commented how run down and decrepit the upstairs looked. The concrete was badly deteriorated, the small rooftop pool was quite dirty. We walked in the room, a young lady just finished changing the sheets. After my wife looked around she looked at me in disgust to express her disappointment. As it was 3 pm when we arrived and it was now 4pm. I told her let's just stay the night and I'll contact Expedia to find another place in the morning. I unloaded the car with no assistance from the staff and carried the suit cases up stairs. After making the five trips up and down the stairs. I finally sat with my wife on the upstairs veranda. The view was stunning. The location awesome! I couldn't understand why the owner would let such a beautiful space become so run down and decrepit. It was now 4:30 pm and I received an email from Expedia that Aqua Verde had sent an email that our room was not ready but arrangements had been made to move us to different resort and sorry for the inconvenience. We were so excited and cautious at the same time. I locked the room and my wife and I, jumped in the car and drove to the Point Village which was at the opposite end of 7 mile beach and on the rocky beach. We obtained the key from security and went and checked the room. My wife was gleaming as it was a 100% upgrade from where we were currently staying. We sped back to Bourbon beach bar and quickly packed up and told the young man what had occurred. I showed him the email I recieved and asked him for a copy of the sheet I filled out. We spent the night at Point Village. I was in contact with the manager for the point village condo, he was very helpful. He informed me that this condo was only available for half of our stay. He had another place for us to move to at that time. I contacted expedia in the morning and explained what we experienced. Expedia was amazing to deal with. While I waited for expedia to get back to me I was contacted by a lady who stated she was with the Aqua Verde. I asked if she was there now and she said no and that she was in Montego Bay. I was so angry and asked her how they could misrepresent themselves so much! I gave her an earful and told her she needs to get off the internet. Expedia not only found us a decent hotel but also got us an upgrade.
