Came to the Bourbon Manner on a recommendation from a friend who had great things to say. When my wife and I showed up along with another couple, we were appalled to find the condition of their "carefully prepared" room to be in terrible shape. There were bars of soap in the bath tub and the toilet had "definitely" not been flushed. When we confronted the owner about this, his words were "What do you want me to do about it?" He was argumentative about our finding because the maid had told him that the room had been cleaned. Once he was shown the evidence, he still did not utter as much as an apology.
Still flabbergasted, we went out that evening and had a great time. Upon our return, the lock in our friend's door jammed and would not allow them to open it. Again, the inn keepers were alerted, who then along with the owner had no luck opening the door. Finally, at approx 1 am a locksmith came and literally sawed the lock out of the door. All of this was occurring (for approx 1 1/2 hours) within 30 to 40 feet of my wife trying to sleep in our bed. Once the door was opened, the owner walked down the stairs and confronted my friend's wife and told her that he could not understand how they could have done this, as it had "never happened before like this." He continued in telling her that he felt they locked it from the inside. Not wanting to have an argument at 1 in the morning, she came back upstairs and finally went to bed (with the door still open and unlocked).
Knowing that we all have bad days and that odd things happened, we assumed the next morning at breakfast the owner would come over and apologize to my friend and his wife and would probably say something to my wife and me as well, due to keeping us up all night and running a saw for 20 minutes outside of our room just merely 8 hours before. BUT NO, not one apology was uttered, not one "I'm sorry,".......nothing. It wasn't until my friend approached him about the whole nightmare that we both had, did he show one bit of remorse.
We were trying to give this guy the benefit of the doubt knowing that some things are out of control, but to not have the decency to at least say "We're sorry," really made me feel motivated to write this review and recommend him to absolutely nobody.
The Manor is a beautiful place in a beautiful town but we will certainly never consider this place EVER again!!
