The 10 Most Haunted Hotels in America to Book This Halloween - AFAR

"Originally built as a theater and ballroom in the early 1800s and rebuilt by architect Henry Latrobe, this French Quarter property later served as a school, orphanage, and makeshift yellow-fever hospital under the Sisters of the Holy Family before opening as a hotel. Guests have reported a range of supernatural phenomena—ghostly children’s laughter, nuns who vanish into walls, personal items mysteriously misplaced, a lonely dancer waltzing beneath the ballroom chandelier, and the solemn apparition of a Confederate soldier marching in gray uniform." - Bailey Berg

Bourbon Orleans Hotel

"Bourbon Orleans might just be the Grande Dame of French Quarter hotels. With near-perfect period detail, like cast and wrought iron fixtures, courtyards, French arch windows, dormers and balconies, and a prime location just north of the famous St. Louis Cathedral and Jackson Square, there's very little that doesn't speak to the hotel's many charms. Just to the north side of the famous St. Louis Cathedral and Jackson Square, there is no hotel of this stature closer to the heart of the city! There's Roux on Orleans, a creole streetside affair, and the “Bourbon O” bar, where there are live local Jazz performances nightly (along with a cocktail or two). , along with fresh mixed cocktails…with a seasonally changing drink menu that makes it the classiest bar on Bourbon Street. Grab your beau and take a stroll around the inner courtyard, or take a dip in the heated saltwater pool."

Do not stay here, you will regret it. This hotel was a letdown, especially for the price. The biggest issue is the misleading resort/destination fee. While it technically appears in the fine print, it is not included in the total price shown at booking, even though it is mandatory. The final amount ends up higher than the checkout total, which feels intentionally deceptive and makes it difficult to compare prices honestly. The room itself was underwhelming. The window blinds did not work, the bathroom had a noticeable unpleasant smell, and the shower water pressure was terrible, making even basic comfort an issue. Overall, the room felt poorly maintained. Customer service did not help improve the experience. Staff were rude and unhelpful when any issues were raised. For what you pay, this hotel does not deliver. You’d be much better off staying at a Marriott or another major hotel chain with clearer pricing, better rooms, and more professional service. Do not recommend

Stayed an early Christmas with friends on a long weekend. The hotel lobby was gorgeously decorated for the holidays and was tastefully fragranced. Our patio-side double queen room was large and spacious and it was lovely to have immediate access to the pool area, which is beautiful, tucked away in an interior garden space. Didn’t swim but the water was warm! The concierge was really friendly and helpful arranging a tour and even gave us coupons for free beignets! ||There were a few downsides to our stay. First, our room was near the lobby and across the hall from an exit of the live music venue. It’s was extremely loud until midnight. I wish we had been informed and asked if we were ok with that. A family with children would have been very unhappy with the noise level. The lobby noise was also pretty intrusive and all three nights at about 12:40, I was awakened by hotel stall talking loudly and pushing some sort of screeching metal cart down the hall. Why this level of noise by staff would happen at that hour is a mystery. Lastly, the hot water system in the hotel is ridiculously bad. We had to run the water for 20 minutes just to get a tepid, low-pressure shower. Budgeting that extra time and all that wasted water definitely colored our experience here. ||Overall, I might stay here again, but i would definitely be more careful with my room choice and request a quieter floor or a pool side on the quieter side of the hotel.

Our stay at Bourbon’s Orleans Hotel was ruined by an outrageous valet situation. The hotel contracts with a valet service, and while our car was in their care, it was hit and damaged. Despite the damage occurring while the vehicle was under valet control, we were stuck with the bill. Neither the valet company nor the hotel took meaningful responsibility. This is especially frustrating because the hotel chose and hired this valet service. From a guest perspective, the valet represents the hotel — yet when something went wrong, everyone passed the blame and left us to deal with the consequences. Accidents happen, but what matters is how they’re handled. In this case, the response was dismissive and unacceptable. Guests should not be financially penalized for damage that occurs while their car is under the care of a service mandated and endorsed by the hotel. We expected accountability, professionalism, and support. We received none of that. Until Bourbon’s Orleans Hotel takes responsibility for the vendors they hire and how guests are treated when problems arise, I would strongly advise against using their valet — or staying here at all.

The hotel was absolutely gorgeous and in a perfect location close to everything we wanted to do. We had breakfast at the restaurant inside, which was delicious, and made sure to take advantage of the little perks like the complimentary water. The concierge, Roy, was amazing and helped us book a few great tours. Our car felt safe and secure in their garage, and the front desk staff were polite and attentive, even checking in on us as we headed out to dinner. Overall, a great stay from start to finish.

Google
The room we stayed in was on the first floor with a entrance to the pool area. I've used the pool on a previous visit and immensely enjoyed it again. The front desk was extremely helpful, the housekeeping was always available and attentive for any request, the bellhops were very friendly and knowledgeable for city events/locations. The designed lobby was a class act as well as the staff which made the trip a superb success.

Google
Hotel was in a good location and staff is nice. However got a message on the first night of our stay saying those staying could extend the stay for a cheap price if we just go to the front desk and inquire. When going up front they told me that they couldn’t do that, and basically those messages don’t really mean you can stay another night for that price because there isn’t enough rooms and we just have to pay full price. Kind of weird you get a message like that and it isn’t true whatsoever. Our room was kind of a handicapped type room, the shower was falling apart and water kept going everywhere and for the price we paid I did expect something a little nicer but I guess we pay for location. Will probably stay somewhere else next time

Google
The hotel was beautiful and had a good location. The only issues were the rooms not having hot water. My shower was also not draining and when I’d shower I was standing in a puddle of water up to my ankles. I told the front desk and they said they would have someone to fix it but never did. The pool mentions online it’s heated. It was not heated the entire time I was there. I asked front desk staff to turn pool heater on and they were very rude about it. Evening staff not friendly at all. One lady who works in the morning and front door staff were very nice! I can see other reviews and know now they have had the same issues for weeks now.

We had a great stay at Bourbon Orleans. David/bellman was very helpful and courteous. He provided a lot of useful recommendations for places you must see as well as places to eat. ||All lobby staff and front desk personnel made our stay pleasant.

Yelp
Overall, the hotel is great. Excellent location and nice helpful staff. I will say, however, we had a balcony off of Sant Ann and it was INSANELY loud. I know what you're thinking, "well it's right by Bourbon, it's going to be loud." Yes. But hear me out, it wasn't the bourbon street noise that was the issue. It was the freaking dumpster noise every morning. I swear to god they picked that thing up, slammed it down, shook it, scraped it, and started over again for half an hour every single morning. It is JARRING. Our first night was comical because we barely slept. The street noise is ALOT but overall worth it to people watch from the balcony in the evening. Adding to it, there must be a window open or something in the little cottage next door because there was a beeping that went on ALL DAY/ALL NIGHT for 3 days. I could hear it at all hours constantly beeping every other second. They also clean the street every morning and you will hear that too. It's fine. It's just loud. Overall the stay was nice. The pool was pretty, the coffee was free and very good. We only had one issue we had to call about (ran out of conditioner) and they had it to us within 5 minutes. I didn't complain about the noise because it's just somewhat expected I feel. If there was a way to make it less loud I would stay here again but there isn't so I probably won't. Beautiful property though and we did enjoy it.

Yelp
My wife and I came to New Orleans for the first time to celebrate my 50th birthday! What a wonderful surprise and amazing experience! The staff was incredible and informative The room was perfect while it overlooked the luxurious pool The hotel from top to bottom is one of the best and we look forward to making it a regular stay for us at least twice a year Thank you to staff and management

Yelp
Love this hotel. This hotel was recently renovated and has a gorgeous lobby and common areas, a nice pool, spacious rooms, etc. There is a restaurant here and a bar with jazz music every night from 8-12. The pool is very refreshing and is open from 7am-10pm daily. You can also get a room that's located on the pool deck, if you're lucky. The 3rd and 6th floors are haunted but I stayed on the 6th floor, and... I didn't see any ghosts. I highly recommend coming here if you're looking for a good hotel. I can't wait to stay here again!

Yelp
The staff members were very welcoming and went out of their way to assist us during our stay. However, we found the room to be quite compact, which was a bit of a surprise. Throughout the night, there were several maintenance noises that unfortunately disrupted our sleep. We hope these minor issues can be addressed for future guests. Despite this, we appreciated the overall service provided.

Yelp
The Bourbon Orleans hotel is a beautiful building situated conveniently in the French district. The lobby host the ornate furniture reminiscent of times pasts. While the room rate was fairly priced we were disappointed by the surprise $20 resort fee per day! Because there are no resort amenities except a free bottle water.

Yelp
Ricky Rocks!!! Met Ricky at the pool bar this morning. In addition to a super Sazerac he crafted a stunningly memorable Espresso Martini with a beautifully rendered Fleur de Lis using his own special spice blend. Worth a visit to the historic Bourbon Orleans hotel.

Yelp
Five Stars!! The first person you see every time you enter is a very polite doorman. There is a big lobby decorated with a Christmas tree and seating, nice for photos. Then the ladies at the front desk were nice and informative. The rooms are updated and clean, spacious, and we had a view down to Borbon street where you can look down to all the action. I do wish the windows opened up, but not the biggest deal. We asked for no housekeeping the 8 days we stayed here because I don't like anyone entering our room, and they had no problem. There is a bar downstairs open during pool hours. The hotel even has a bigger 24 hour bar/restaurant that leads right out to Bourbon Street. I highly recommend this for your next stay in New Orleans.

Yelp
The Bourbon Orleans is in a great location right off Bourbon Street. It's stylishly decorated with an on-site restaurant and bar. Our room was nicely appointed. Things to be aware of - if they offer you a choice of room locations, AVOID the second floor around room 223. While the idea of having a window facing Bourbon Street sounded good, the reality was safety floodlights from the street poured into our room at night through the plantation shutters, and the noise/music from Bourbon Street and the hotel bar below made it difficult to sleep a couple nights. A nice place, but be careful regarding your room choice!

Yelp
I would stay here again and again! The staff is incredible. From the valet to the bartenders, they made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. The location was absolutely perfect. In the mix of everything but not loud and noisy. Very special shout out to Liah at the valet and Phillip at the lobby bar who went above and beyond for us to make the stay comfy and fun. Our king size bed was super comfortable and the room was overall a great size for two people. The only downside was the bathroom. The shower had no pressure and the fan wouldn't stay on for longer than a few seconds at a time. That may have been room specific so I won't hold it against the hotel as a whole. Looking forward to our next stay here.

Yelp
Wanted to stay in The French Quarter for my first visit to New Orleans. This hotel was right in the heart of it. Didnt know it had a haunted history until after acquiring the room. Got there early but they had a room ready for us at around 1pm instead of 4 so that was good. Our room was a long walk to the end of the 4th floor though. So every time we wanted to leave it was a trek. The room was small and our view looking out was horrible and the window was cracked. The doorman during our visit was great. An older black gentleman that gave great advice and directions during our stay. I'll stay on Canal Street instead of Bourbon next time.

Yelp
If you like to get hotel rooms for sleep or privacy... DON'T STAY HERE! The NOISE is INSANE! You won't be sleeping at all LOL. They know damn well they should not have hotel rooms placed where they are due to privacy and noise LOL. They should be ashamed of themselves for putting rooms on the first floor right in between the lobby/bar/courtyard. we were given a room right off the lobby... right by the bar that plays live jazz music... with a window that is to the pool with tables for people to sit RIGHT UP AGAINST THE WINDOW. The jazz music is SO LOUD until 12 pm that nothing will drown it out.. no earplugs they give you or playing a movie with headphones in on your phone... the employees/people talking in the lobby and passing by the room at all hours of the night are so loud and clear it feels like they are in the room with you... and employees rolling carts or something by your room all night was so loud ... it is just impossible to sleep. you cannot open the blinds to let light in the room because there will be people literally right up against the glass on the other side who are in the pool during pool hours. Also any room guests or anyone in the courtyard can see right into your room so the windows are basically useless because there is ZERO PRIVACY when you open them. When asking to move rooms after two sleepless nights they said check in the morning and that they were fully booked ... the only thing they could offer was an upgrade for $250 a night LMFAO Honestly I think this was absolutely unacceptable for a hotel and the room we were given was absolutely unacceptable with zero privacy and so much noise it is impossible to sleep... Absolutely worst hotel I have ever stayed at. - 0/10 recommendation - DO NOT STAY HERE.

Yelp
I am so pleased with our stay here! We recently stayed 8 days and it was just the best. They had a recent renovation so the room we had was so pretty and clean. Our room was super spacious and we had a cool view to Bourbon St. from the 6th floor. The location was just amazing, literally close to everything!!! It was super convenient that there is a guest only restroom in the lobby, so when walking around enjoying this gorgeous city, I could quickly stop in and have access to a clean private restroom. The lobby was beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations and they have gorgeous chandeliers that give it such a special vibe. The staff was very friendly and helpful with anything we needed from a cab ride, water bottles and even Mardi Gras masks if you're in the mood to wear one! I would definitely stay here on our next trip and recommend to anyone needing a restful and centrally located hotel in the French Quarter:)

Yelp
Total tourist trap, will get you with the name. This place is a total scam, the standard room is dark and dungeon-like with very low ceilings, if you don't like enclosed spaces do not choose that room. The "deluxe" room looks like a regular hotel room but it is $30 more a night to upgrade. The service is horrendous, front desk people are rude and will hang up on you when you have a question about something they know they're scamming you on. When they charged me for incidentals instead of it being a hold it went through and got charged to my credit card. I had to call and spend 30 minutes on the phone and be transferred to two different people in order for it to be resolved and I hope my refund will appear in a few days without having to call back. I was charged one destination fee for part of my stay and a different fee for the second part of my stay which I booked later when I decided to extend my trip by a couple of nights. Apparently the destination fee increased right before I extended my stay, which again, sounds like a total scam to me. Destination fee includes water, wifi, and coffee. Those are things that most hotels don't charge for, so there's another upcharge. Hotel lobby is beautiful, rooms are small and outdated hallways are old. Overall spend the extra money on a reliable and all around beautiful property that isn't try to get your money every way they can.

Yelp
Just left this place after a 3 night stay, the first stop of a tour of the South to celebrate my retirement later this year. Staff were friendly and very helpful. We were pampered throughout our stay. We had breakfast in the hotel restaurant two mornings and LOVED their very flavorful, zesty breakfast sausage. Yum, yum!! Our room was mostly quiet, except one night when some rather loud revelers returned to a neighboring room pretty late--not any fault of the hotel though. Our bed was VERY comfortable. The closet was roomy and offered a safe. The room came with a Keurig coffee maker and housekeeping was good at replenishing both our K-cups and the towels. The bathroom was pretty spacious for a hotel of this age. The towels were big and fluffy, which I love! There are many reviews complaining about shower pressure, but it really depends on WHEN you (and many others) are showering at the same time. The pressure was fine when my hubs showered in the evening and when I showered at 5:30 a.m. on the morning we left early for the airport. Our room had a lovely view of the pool and interior courtyard. We really loved the hotel bar, which I will review separately. I stayed here 30 years ago with my now departed Mom (and loved it then also). My husband (upon leaving) commented how much he loved the amenities and location, requesting we stay here on any return trips, which is high praise from him. DEFINITELY worth the stay!!

Yelp
I loved this hotel because it was walking distance to Jackson Square, one block from Bourbon and all the fun stuff in the french quarters! It's an older hotel but well kept. My double room with a balcony was big and spacious, so was the bathroom. As much as I wanted a room facing bourbon street, I am glad I did not get it because, I do have to say, it is noisy. You will hear everyone partying below. I was on the 5th floor and still heard noise. Luckily, I am not sensitive to noise so it didn't bother me. The front dest staff and door staff are awesome, so was Justin! They made sure we had transportation etc. There is a $40 early check in fee if you get there early. There is a bar/lounge with live Jazz nightly in the hotel and they also have a warm salt water pool.

Yelp
I phoned the hotel to check on my refund since it posted to my bank account one of the mangers said "we do t have it" Currently I'm waiting for a refund and some sort of response from management. We checked in and they had no hot water in our room. Alex took care of us and said we could check out and get a refund.. I've called the hotel and left messages no response! Wow!! Take over a thousand dollars crooks.

Yelp
We paid extra for the junior suite during mardi gras. I wish I hadn't. 1st the good. The guy Reginald helping us to our room was fantastic! Even as we were trapped in the elevator. I will list the issues in no particular order 1) Trapped in the elevator. It was only for 10 min Ok things happen. Reginald was fun and calm for the most part. THAT was not the issue. The manager called about 10 min after we were in the room. And asked if we were ok. We were fine it was not that long and I didn't cause a big stir. Now this EXPENSIVE stay did not come with breakfast. No big deal we don't typically eat it anyway. Howeve, the manager should have offered a breakfast, a complimentary drink at their bar, something. Nope just ok sorry bye 2) the couches in both bedroom and living were small loveseat like things that were VERY uncomfortable and barely had arm rests if there's a way to post images I will 3) the shower. I have stayed at VERY cheap hotels with better it was a large showerhead almost like a rainfall type. Except a third of the holes had no water coming out. It was not just the water pressure. It was not cleaned appropriately for hard water. I have a picture but it is hard to see. The showerhead was mounted in a bad way.you had to plaster yourself against the wall. We had to plaster ourselves against the wall to even get wet. Then had to use a cup for the rest of our body 4) It too 15 min to even heat up. Yes we were on the 6th floor. However been in taller hotels that were just as old if not older and we had hot water 5) last but not least. The toilet paper! I have had softer paper in an outhouse.Getting the cheapest paper is NOT saving money people uses twice as much! Remember girls use it everytime! It was like sandpaper. I'd wait to go until we got to the place we were going to. SERIOUSLY people a little thoughtfulness would be nice. Again the fact it had no amenities for 450 500 is a tad ridiculous. They only had a 20 gift for a drink at their bar. Keep in mind most hotels here charge 50 a night to park your car. The ONLY reason I gave it a 2 star and not 1 is Reginald! Sadly this put a damper on our Mardi gras.

Yelp
Beautiful historic hotel at corner of Bourbon street. Paid extra for a room with a window looking out to courtyard. Plantation blinds were broken and always down. Peeking thru I saw an hvac unit and overgrown vines and a courtyard in the distance. King Room is extremely small. Literally fits a king bed and small end table. Outlets were stripped and charger kept falling out of outlet. No place to open suitcase aside from bed. Small suitcase holder in closet but if you took it out you couldn't walk past bed. Literally a 10 x 10 box with a newer tv and nicely decorated bathroom. Hallway to bathroom was so tight you could touch walls with your elbows if you put your arms up. There's one guest elevator - 3 long hallways away from our room. We had a room on the far side near service elevator and it was noisy and busy from 3:30 to 5 am daily. We opted to walk up and down grand staircase to get to front door. Booked a package on Expedia thinking it was a better deal. Ended up paying $75 more per night than the going rate. (We asked at front desk). Very kind helpful staff. Coffee each morning off lobby was delicious. Didn't eat at restaurant. Not much of a selection. We used uber as there's almost never a cab out front. Hotel is long way on Orleans Ave and the bar has an entrance on Bourbon. That was convenient. You don't hear the riff raff from nightly partiers. Walk out the main entrance to the left you are literally at the back end of Jackson square.

Yelp
Had such a wonderful stay. Wish we could have had a refrigerator or at least a mini bar. But other than that, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Had two queens on the 7th floor. We were not facing Bourbon St. large bathroom counter was great for the two of us to have plenty of space to get ready. Beds super comfy. Housekeeping on point. Great location in the FQ. Will stay again.

Yelp
This hotel location was perfect!! It's smack dab in the middle of everything you want. The oh do famous Bourbon St for all those who are down there to party. The other side takes you to the beautiful St. Louis cathedral, Jackson Square ( literally my most fav area every time i come to the quarter). The famous cafe du monde is right across the street. That is an everyday stop for us. Who says ni to beignets and coffee when you are in Nola? The hotel itself holds that classy Victorian era decor. If the walls and chandeliers could speak, lol. The bedroom was a decent size. Clean. Beds wee comfortable. But the best part of the room was our city view balcony. We could see everything and relax in the evening. For spring. MAN, it was Sooooo HOT. There is a pool are but it's enclosed in the middle of the court yard, so I'm not sure how much sun it actually gets since it literally closes in by 4 walls and 7 levels high. But the heat and humidity during the day were a bit too much for me to be walking around outside. Best time to venture out in that kind of heat morning/early after noon or after 5 or 6. The evenings are beautiful with a light breeze if you want to relax on the balcony and watch the madness on Bourbon. This was probably our first visit where the crowd wasn't all super crazy and jam-packed. Everyone who worked there was super helpful and friendly. No real complaints, except for the one time i called down to ask for water, and it never came. I got lucky and ran into the room service people in the hallway a few hours later, and they helped us. This will probably be one of the hotels we will frequently pick if they have the city view balcony room available. It's actually the only reason we had booked it for this trip. It was the only hotel that still had that room available. Thank you guys so much for another amazing trip in the quarter. Most likely won't be going during the summer if it's already THAT hot and it's still technically spring

Yelp
Had a wonderful stay here, we were greeted by David at the door and he instructed us where to go and what to do to for check in and valet. We were then greeted at the check in counter by Tangela and had another wonderful conversation, everything was explained and we were off to our room immediately. For an older hotel, it was clean and inviting. Our room was beautiful and if I had one complaint, the water pressure is lacking as stated in other reviews. I can look past this and certainly did for an excellent stay. Anytime we ran into a member of the staff we were greeted with a smile. We will certainly be back!!

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at the Bourbon Orleans during our wedding weekend in early June. The staff at the Bourbon were extremely friendly and helpful, making our entire family (40+ guests) feel very much at home! The rooms are spacious, clean, with very comfortable beds. The hotel also boasts wonderful amenities like a salt water pool and great bar! We highly recommend the Bourbon Orleans as a special event host - we had a delicious post-wedding brunch in the cottage for 50, and a lovely backdrop for pre-wedding photos - see pic of the balcony off the ballroom. A big shout out to Brenda, Director of Sales who was extremely helpful during our planning process. We cannot wait to come back to celebrate our anniversary!

Yelp
Conference week calls for a busy hotel every year. This year the hotel is under construction with remodeling every where! It was easier to use the service elevator most of the time and the stairs other times. Having a conference in house with a remodel taking place I think there has to been a better bit of planning involved. Painting doors and sections of corridors with small paper signs for notification is not sufficient! Groups of people walking and passing each other will lead to contact of said door or wall. Terrible planning. I was given a free drink ticket for the small bar area however there was rarely a person working behind the bar so my ticket and the tickets of 4 friends also went unused. Really unfortunate because grabbing a couple drinks in-house is always the start to night and in this case, 5 nights. Rooms have minimal accommodations, the refrigerator is small and doesn't keep things cold and the coffee pot...well it heats water.

Yelp
Made mistake of booking room thru Expedia for 2 nights 24 and 25 April 2025. Just off riverboat cruise and day of check-in came down with colds and fever. Had to check out on 25 Apr, A day early. Woman who checked us out said forus to contact Expedia to work on $500 refund for 2nd night. We checked out before 9 am 0n 25 Apr and drove back home to Michigan. I contacted Expedia and went over above info. They said the Bourbon Hotel Manager, Alex refused to grant us any kind of compensation. Called Alex, he confirmed saying they could not rebook room. NOLA had a Jazz Festival and a Major Golf Tourney that weekend. I am sure Alex told me a lie. Lesson learned --NEVER STAY AT BOURBON HOTEL AND NEVER BOOK MORE THAN 1 DAY STAY WITH EXPEDIA. PS. The room we had was as we terrible. There was a king bed and a tv and coffee pot. No Chairs, No Tables, No Desk. Had to use ironing board to hold suitcases. Had to call maintenance to get us two uncomfortable chairs. No soap dish,no hand soap at small sink. Had to use soap dispenser in the crumby shower. Toilet was loosely attached to floor. And room smelled like Bourbon street. All that for $500/night plus $80 parking. Of course lost another $500 for the early checkout.

We booked a loft style suite. Room 149. If they give you this room, do not take it. We thought the room was beautiful and pretty clean. The only issue was the water pressure in the shower was pretty weak. The first night of being there there was noises at 3 AM sounding like carts rolling. It woke all three of us up. We didn't know if it was car rolling, or the sound of a trash pick up. This reoccurred for each night that we were here. We stayed for four nights. After the first night, we thought it was just a fluke so we didn't say anything until the second night. I went to the manager the next day and told him about the room issue. Unfortunately since it was New Year's Eve holidays, he did not have any other room that he could offer us. I told him then can you offer us anything else in the form of a reimbursement because, well, you go to a hotel to sleep after all, and we were not sleeping. He told us he can only offer us a $100 credit towards the incidentals. I told him we paid like $2000 for the room. $100 for incidentals for us not sleeping for two nights is unacceptable. I asked him since it's New Year's Eve. Do you think that they'll still be doing deliveries or whatever the heck that noise was. He told me no he doesn't think that there will be because it's New Year's Eve. That night we only slept for three hours. They did their delivery at four in the morning. We had gone outside and realized they put us right next to the delivery entrance/trash pick up area. On New Year's Day, so our third night sleeping there, I went to the front desk and informed the lady at the front desk that the issue had still persisted and asked if she still remembered that I was talking to her manager about this yesterday. Seemingly she was irritated by the fact that I had come back, and said "yes I remember you" while she tapped her pen angrily. I asked for her manager. He told me that there was nothing else he could do other than the $100 toward the incidental. I told him that if I contact Expedia and they contact his hotel will he able to do better than this? He said I should contact them, and he will see what he can do. Wasn't sure what that meant but I decided to contact Expedia anyways. thankfully, Expedia was able to negotiate a one night stay refund. All I can say is some of the front desk staff isn't very friendly. I informed the manager that if they are going to sell room 149 to people, they need to offer it at a discount because it's right next to the delivery/trash pick up area. In the mornings, we would go and try to get coffee which they serve by the bar. 3/4 of the times, they were out of the coffee. 2/4 of the times, they actually refilled it! The other time, we asked if they would refill it, we waited, and they never refilled it. Their restaurant is decent but overpriced. Food anywhere else walking distance is like 8-10$ cheaper. They often have someone open the front door to the hotel for you which is nice. The entire rest of the staff besides the front desk is very nice and hospitable. It is walking distance from Bourbon Street and Jackson Square. The hotel was cutely decorated for Christmas/NYE. Hopefully they come up with a solution for room 149 and some of the front desk can change their attitude.

Yelp
Here for a wonderful Old world, southern charm stay. Bourbon Orleans is situated in a quiet part of the French Quarter. A block from St. Charles Cathedral. Absolutely lovely! I love the history behind the hotel. Bourbon Orleans offers a very comfortable stay, bar, restaurant, pool/bar service. Staff is professional, welcoming, and friendly. Love the hotel!

Yelp
In need of a short hotel stay before our Airbnb was ready, my dad and I decided to give the bourbon Orleans hotel a shot. We both knew about this hotel from a TV show called "your honor". I was excited to stay there but sad when I learned that they actually did not do any filming of the show at the hotel. Oh well! This hotel is in a prime location if you are looking to enjoy the French Quarter. Our room was on the first floor, which was a little disappointing because we weren't able to open our windows to get fresh air and we were at eyesight with anyone walking down the sidewalk. Needless to say, we kept our blinds closed to the entire time. Given the limited amount of time we actually spent in our room, the price is a little steep for what you get. Valet parking was $48 a night which again was a little steep in my opinion. But, you are paying for the location and convenience of having everything within walking distance. We did not get to enjoy any of the amenities as we were there later in the season and it was a bit cold - there is a pool and they do have both a restaurant and bar on site. If it is your first time in New Orleans, and all you care about is location, I would recommend this hotel. The beds are comfy, and the staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. But if you're on a budget, I would not recommend staying here.

Yelp
Very nice historical hotel in a great location! It's haunted, be sure to visit the 6th floor! Very friendly staff, the bar is nice too. Great for some music and a nightcap before heading back to our rooms. Rooms were adequate but on the smaller size. Heating/cooling worked great and the shower was nice. I would definitely come back here

Yelp
Stayed at the Bourbon Orleans for a convention. The rooms were nice and even with our window facing Bourbon St., the raucous wasn't horrible. Breakfast was good. The waitress, Tamika, who attended us was so gracious and made sure we were taken care of. Loved her personality and vibrancy. The hotel desk was also great. Smiles and appeared to want to be at work. Now, the bad thing about the hotel was our shower head didn't fully work, only one trash can in the room and a cup of coffee for hotel guest was over $4. I would stay again but not buying any coffee.

Yelp
Nice clean rooms. Staff were polite and inviting. They opened doors offered assistance, and made good local recommendations when asked. No microwave but this is pretty typical of hotels in touristy areas -they want you to use their restaurants and buy food. However, the room had a small wine fridge that we used to keep drinks and snacks cool. The Rousse convenient store is about a block away. Concierge on site, live music nightly 8-12ish at the hotel bar. Heated pool was open although we did not use it (70 degrees in December is a lil too chilly for me but I saw a few people take dip) Luggage storage on site, and early check is 1pm, if you arrive before that and there is availability, you can check in a little earlier for a fee. Nice location close to everything French quarter related. The aquarium is about a 15 min walk. The property is well maintained my only complaints are that they should do deep cleanings more often and use small trash bags for the waste baskets in the rooms. I initially thought the cleaners forgot to replace them but after asking 2 different cleaners for trash bags (they were kind enough to offer me large industrial bags or ice chest bags), I realized that this was evidently a thing at this hotel. But if I am disposing of a drink or piece of fruit I would to reduce messiness by putting it into a wastebasket with a bag in it. -so keep your bags from the convenience store for this purpose. Certain places you could see some dust build up or in the otherwise clean bathroom; in corners or crevices you could see some build up that a regular mop just can't get to over time. It was nice wish I it could give 4.5.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel, right in back of St. Louis Cathedral and steps away from Bourbon street. It was clean, renovated and central to everything. I was surprised how quiet it was and we slept well. We went a week before Christmas and my kids loved the heated pool and were intrigued that the hotel was haunted. The staff were great and helpful in suggesting restaurants and things to do with kids. Great place to stay. I will most definitely stay here again when I come back.

Yelp
French Quarter hotels are often a dime a dozen and even more so, hit and miss. The latter certainly doesn't apply to the Bourbon Orleans Hotel, simply because it's one of the most established hospitality landmarks in the city. It is not only one of the most centrally located places to stay, but it's among the most classic and beautiful, inside and out. I've been told this hotel is haunted, much like the rest of the city and its dense history. Prices are rarely going to be a deal to stay here ($200-400/night) and the parking valet situation is not ideal at $40, but worth considering since things happen (#1). The view from here to Bourbon is within arm's reach, which for certain festivities could result in some noise issues but this was never a concern for my party and I. For the room, it was spectacular. The beds were incredibly comfortable as I stayed in a loft with a second floor and a hell of a city view. The antiquated feel is a theme that resonates from the lobby to the rooms but done in a way where it doesn't feel too stuffy or too outdated. Lastly, I want to thank the front office manager, Harrison P. You sir, single handedly made my stay so enjoyable that your personal offer to make my guests and I feel comfortable was very much appreciated. You went above and beyond that your customer service will always be remembered fondly. _______________ (#1) I got towed. https://www.yelp.com/biz/auto-impound-lot-claiborne-towing-facility-new-orleans?hrid=DsDt1ujNpe-YcKifCarbbw&utm_campaign=www_review_share_popup&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_source=(direct)

Yelp
UNTRUSTWORTHY VALET. Valet decided to change/delete all of our settings, after entering "Guest." Attempted, numerous times, to contact the GM (Chris Warner) to inform him what had occurred. This man is never available and won't return voicemails. I high doubt that this person actually exists. Don't leave anything of value in your vehicle if using valet. Take everything with you that isn't tied down. Other than the valet, the rest of our stay was absolutely perfect.

Yelp
I can't begin to say enough about the Bourbon Orleans. My wife surprised me w/ a quick Father's Day weekend and we chose the Bourbon O bc I had stayed there many years prior and recall her elegance and prime location. This venerable old girl hasn't lost a bit! First of all, no, they don't have free coffee or breakfast. Get over yourselves. Find me better staff and a better location... I'll wait. It is centrally located to EVERYTHING you'll want to see and eat and drink. We had room 305, a Queen balcony loft overlooking Orleans street with a BEAUTIFUL view of the cathedral and close enough to catch the bourbon street madness without being right on top of it. The room was impeccably clean and warm and well appointed. The A/C is magnificent after a day in the Louisiana heat (we're Florida... used to it). The balcony is huge and perfect for morning coffee or a nightcap. The staff, ALL of them, from Door persons, to front desk, to maintenance are ALL more than willing to help with any questions you may have. Warm friendly people make the difference, and they deliver in spades! The noise complaints: Baby, it's BOURBON STREET for F's sake! Get yourself a nice secluded cabin in the Appalachians if you want quiet! Bourbon Street is filled with loud jazz, club music, people living their best lives, even if only for a weekend. She's unapologetically loud, and should be. With the balcony door closed and the TV on, you can't hear it. Just deal with it... The "Bourbon O" bar is great! We spent our Sunday listening to "Raddy" and it was exceptional. The drinks aren't cheap, but, the pour is good and you get what you pay for. I'm sorry to report we saw ZERO paranormal shenanigans BUT, the hotel DEFINITELY has an energy! In short, if you're going to the "Big Easy" make it easy on yourself, shut up and pay the price, whatever it is, and you will NOT regret it!

Yelp
Stayed here for three nights (which are woefully not enough) and was very impressed with this beautiful, cozy, comfortable hotel. The lobby was gorgeous and the lady and the reception was very welcoming upon me checking in, welcoming me to New Orleans. My room itself is clean, cozy, and comfortable, and the shower as a generous amount of heat and water pressure to fend off the cold night outside (it was also raining upon my arrival). It was a welcome sight too to have all this water to drink upon my arrival seeing the water bottles, and I was glad that they were willing to give me more so I didn't have to go to the closest grocery store and haul water bottles back to my room. Each morning I got new coffee and new water bottles, two essentials I need. They also have nice, comfy bath robes on request (which I did). I love how I can call the front desk and they are responsive. The attendants are also super helpful when I'm asking questions about the city and when asking for directions. Everyone was so friendly and made me really enjoy my stay. Now let's get to one of the most important aspects here. LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! By the next morning, I basically knew my way around the French Quarter, and my hotel was so easy to locate anywhere I may roam. My one complaint is that I wasn't here long enough, but that can only mean that I had a good trip. I would definitely come back to this hotel on my next visit to the Big Easy!

Yelp
Wow!!! This place does not disappoint. From the amazing and kind front desk staff (Asia, Denise, Lexus, and Shakita!) to the great jazz in the Bourbon O Bar, and the service at the Cafe (Carrie-Ann), this hotel was great. Centrally located in the French Quarter near Cafe DuMond, Jackson Square, and everything else. The service staff were so helpful, kind, and friendly. The room was clean, got extra pillows when I asked, and the bed was firm but not hard. I walk with a cane and could easily navigate with directions from staff to all the fun sights. I heartily recommend this hotel for staff service, location, and quality. We'll be back!

Yelp
I was going to give a 3 but feel a 2 would be best! The bed in room 322 is horrible! Super uncomfortable and feels like it's wicked old!! Decor was decent. Not sure how the hotel is so highly rated maybe back In the day it was something but they've not kept up with ultra comfortable furnishings. Also the ventilation in the room was horrendous. Everything felt wet even down to the put motion sensors on the bathroom fan to try and help it does not. Also the heat and ac work when they want too! The one and only thing would be the location. The two stars are for that!!! Stay somewhere more reasonable with better quality bed and luxury feels!

Yelp
Stayed here for 4 nights and had a great experience. The staff was very friendly and very helpful, especially Alexis at the front desk! We got to check in early, and we had a basic room with a window facing a run-down courtyard. The room was clean, but the hallways don't form a complete loop (or square), but more of a spiral to the elevator. We were at the very end (room 461), so we had to walk down 4 long hallways every time to access the elevator. It's not the end of the world, but it just added extra steps every time we left our room. The room was nice, basic, and clean. The shower was a rain style shower with a separate detachable spray handle. We had a flat screen TV, drink cooler that didn't cool our drinks at all, coffee maker, ice bucket, and alarm clock with USB access/charging. No easily accessible plugs near the bed or nightstand. Some hotels have plugs built into the nightstand lamps or accessible behind the nightstand, but our room had 1 plug behind the bed and 1 inconveniently located under the desk next to the bed but not very close to the bed. We like to charge electronics on our nightstand, but and to compromise here unless you bring an extension cord. The bathroom is spacious, and they have the wall mounted bottle pumps of shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. Pressure was decent, and hot water was abundant and got hot as expected. The bathroom fan is on a motion timer, so it will go on automativally every time you enter the bathroom. Closet with ironing board and iron along with a safe. The bed was comfy, and sheets were soft. We asked for extra pillows and coffee, and they had them delivered within minutes. The lobby is gorgeous, and the extra security feature of needing your room key to access the elevator from the 1st floor is a nice touch. I didn't visit the pool or exercise room, so I can not review those. Easy access in front for valet parking, taxis, Ubers, and Lyfts. The lobby has direct access to the restaurant on one side and the jazz bar on the other. We never tried the restaurant, but we did visit the hotel's bar (Bourbon O) and caught a drink while listening to live music. A bonus is that you can sit in the beautiful and comfy lobby and gear the live music also. The hotel has a few scrapes and bruises from time, but the location is top-notch, only minutes by foot from Jackson Square in one direction and Bourbon Street in the other. The staff was super friendly and attentive, and overall, the hotel was clean and worth the price. I would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
First off, NOLA is off the chain - Loved it! This hotel is just off the main strip, the walk to the madness is super close, but just enough away that you can get some sleep. The people, the food, the music, it's a great place to hang out and see some things. The hotel staff was very cool, nice, professional and helpful. The room was comfortable (did not stay in it much). and the location is great, central to anything you wanna get into. There was a gentleman by the name of Ty that was a light and a blessing to that area and hotel. (Thank you for those kind words sir and well wishes.)

Yelp
Disputing our over exaggerated bill now. Problem is no one answers and "mail box is full" Double charged for taxes on same day, dog fee from 75.00 to 100.00 Restaurant fee we never went to and a 95.30 charge that we have no idea what it's for. Thieves!!

Yelp
I spend 100+ nights per year in all levels of accommodations and travel to NOLA 3 or 4 times per year. Additionally due to my industry/company I was required to travel during the entire COVID nightmare. I totally understand the challenges and changes the pandemic brought to hotels and have a great deal of respect for the hospitality industry as a whole. Regards to NOLA accommodations; I know from past experiences to accept a certain level of "quirkiness". However based on the expense, lack of expected comforts and services; The Bourbon Orleans was disappointing. At check-in; nothing was explained as far as onsite services, cleaning of rooms, pool, etc. Spent 4 nights in the Governors Suite: Bed was squeaky, cheep solid core pillows, no chair at desk, no USB ports, no robes, no coffee for Keurig machine, no glasses/cups, dressers/cabinets missing pulls on doors, closet too small/narrow for standard hangers, enormous bathroom with no air conditioning vents, living room and bedroom very dark even with all the lights on and window shutters open. Getting the room serviced/cleaned was nearly impossible. Asked everyday for the room to be serviced and it only happened one time and all the maid did was replace towels and make bed. Didn't empty garbage or leave coffee or glasses that were never there from the start. 4th floor hallway was never properly vacuumed because we saw the same filth for 5 days. Hallway air conditioning was not functioning property either. Attitude of front desk staff was hit or miss. Addressed that our room was never serviced and was told "I'm not responsible for scheduling the servicing of rooms"? At one point our keys were intentionally deactivated; the front desk was confused and thought we checked out? There was no apology and were given new keys without showing any ID. Hotel restaurant only serves breakfast so you'd think it would be decent but you'd be wrong. Service was slow. Very limited menu; no baked goods, nothing healthy or lite. Only white toast? Jelly, only grape? All four of us thought the food was borderline gross. In conclusion: The property looks lovingly cared for. Location is great and architecturally it's pretty/interesting. However at nearly $600.00 per night during the off season our suite and general experience was not just disappointing but made us sad. There's better places to stay for less money...

Yelp
It's 2:42 in the morning. The noise from the club across the street is so loud in our room. When I called in tears to ask about being able to turn on the fan, or move rooms I was told to use earplugs (which they brought to my room). I now have the earplugs in and still the noise is deafening. When I asked about a different room, I was told to check in the morning, but that they are often sold out. I can't believe there are no reviews mentioning the noise. I'm hoping to get a couple hours at 4am when the club is supposed to close. Absolutely not recommended unless they can fix this tomorrow. Decibel meter reads between 55-72. Truly sad as the welcoming staff was so wonderful, and the lobby is gorgeous.

Yelp
My friends and i took a girls trip to New Orleans and we were so excited to have found this wonderful historic hotel. The hotel is beautiful and full of character , the staff was amazing , very friendly and attentive. The location is prime with walking distance to some of the main points of interest. I really enjoyed the hotel and everything that came with it, yes it's an older hotel but that's the charm of being in New Orleans, the history and beauty of the city. The pool is very nice and relaxing and there is a bar attached which has wonderful musician's play every night.

Yelp
We were so excited to stay at this hotel because of not only the amenities but the reviews. Unfortunately we will not be booking again. The first night we stayed here we ended up having to switch out room at the middle of the night due to not having hot water and the air conditioning was not working (room 501) and then were moved (room 222). We did advise that in the first day we didn't need our room clean and just opted for more towels but on the second day we did have to put in a request. The room was cleaned but we didn't get a roll of tissue...so that was a pleasant surprise. The employees in front of the hotel, lobby, checkin and restaurant servers are ALL amazing but our overall experience having to change rooms, being told there is no microwave to warm our food (not even in the lobby, restaurant or bar was absurd). We've paid less for rooms in high traffic areas and have always been subjected to at least having a microwave in the lobby or paying a fee to rent one in the room.

Yelp
I had my wedding there in 2012, the experience was absolutely horrible! We had a two story suite for three days, no one ever came to take out the room service trays, or change the towels. It was absolutely disgusting! We spent $30,000 on our wedding. The room was supposed to be included. You would think there would be somewhat of room service/maid service included. Apparently not. Super disappointing to say the least! We had a room block of at least 20 rooms, and nobody was treated with any graciousness. It was absolutely horrible for my guests as well. Not one person could say a good thing about this hotel. Super disappointing to say the least... An iconic venue, down the drain. I hope they have come up in the world because it is such a beautiful place.
