BOURGOIN COGNAC

Excellent visit by Rebecca. I really liked the link with the history of the region and even learned something new, though I am from the same area. Excellent tasting of the entire product line: two different cognac, pineau, verjus, balsam (included in the price of the visit). My favorites => Pineau des Charentes et verjus Kids friendly!

If you’re going to visit this region of France, let alone Cognac, you have to visit Bourgoin Cognac. This family-run business has the passion, knowledge and conviviality to make this the best tour money can buy. Before we’d even started the tour, we were welcomed with open arms, as if we were part of the family. We speak French, but, honestly, Rébecca’s and Frédéric’s English is much better, and so they gave the tour in English. We chose the Safari tour, and were given a ride in the family’s old Peugeot van (that was used for deliveries decades ago). The full process of growing the grapes, and the details and difficulties therein, were fully described with enthusiasm by Frédéric, after which, we were returned to the main house, and showed the distilling process. The variety of products were also displayed and described, with the option to taste each. The fantastic knowledge on display made this tour a unique experience, and the visit is worth it for the aesthetic purpose alone- the branding and design of all products and signage is gorgeous. I don’t have enough words to describe how much I enjoyed this- just go!

Great tour of the Bourgoin Cognac vineyard and distillery, given by the owner Frederic Bourgoin in both French and English. We were picked up from the courtyard in a 1960s Peugeot van passed down through generations of the Bourgoin family and driven through the vineyards to learn about grape growing. Then we were brought back to the distillery to see how the cognac and other products are made. We found it really interesting that Frederic works with bartenders and bar owners to produce sugar syrup, wine verjus (the same acidity as lime juice) and a triple casked cognac that retains the carbon from ageing and great for cocktail mixology. Definitely recommend the tour, tasting and picking up a bottle or two!

Beautiful venue - you are treated to a tour of the local vineyards (featuring an amazing viewpoint over the landscape of Nouvelle-Aquitaine) - English language is available as well. Wonderfully friendly hosts and proper tour experience. Really educational (including the history of the venue and science of the fermentation and distillation) and also really fun (riding out to the fields in the back of the old van). Lot of Cognac and other alcohol tasting for the value. Would go again!

Fantastic tour and tasting.

My husband and I made our first trip to Cognac and based on the fantastic reviews we decided to visit Bourgoin Cognac! It did not disappoint! The tour was very informative and the Cognac was superb. Absolutely the best we have tasted in our lives. We always prefer family run, quality over quantity distillers and this was the place just for that! Visit soon before their Cognac becomes so popular you won't be able to get your hands on a bottle! (It is THAT good!) Thank you so much for your hospitality!
