The World's Best Bars, According to Bartenders

"On Peel Street in Hong Kong, this Australian wine bar is praised for always having great vibes, super-hospitable staff, and excellent value for money — exactly what a neighborhood bar should be." - Dylan Ettinger

Visited this spot for their Sunday roast and left with mixed feelings. The gravy was quite watery and lacked depth—my friends and I were hoping for something more flavorful. On the bright side, the chicken was cooked beautifully: tender and juicy. The potatoes weren’t crispy as expected, but still had a nice taste. Carrots, peas, and Yorkshire pudding were just okay—nothing memorable. The cocktails didn’t blow us away either, which was a bit of a letdown. That said, their happy hour at 1 PM on Sundays is a solid perk, and the pet-friendly atmosphere definitely earns points. Overall, we had a good time thanks to the company and vibe, but I’m not sure I’d return for the Sunday roast. Might give their bar food at night a try instead.

Been here for drinks but never food. I like the outdoorsy bar seats, dog friendly place for my friend's pet. Music is good, the people are friendly. I am such a huge fan of truffle and they have more than 1 truffle item on the menu!! Everything is good, the croquettes, broccolini with sesame tofu (interesting), asparagus dish... Chicken was a bit squeaky against my teeth, but it may just be that quality of meat that day. I have to return to try this one. I would actually come here for the food. Drinks are also reasonably priced! Service is awesome ♥️

Great to see (more) places in Hong Kong adopting the Sunday Roast tradition. Would be awesome to have an Aussie beef alternative in the future, but the hot chooks will do for now! 🐔🇦🇺

I love this cute spot, formerly known as shady acres, which has now transformed into bourke’s, a laidback restobar with an aussie wine bar vibe. The sharing-size mains were a hit, and we ordered a lot lol. The real stars of the meal were the liver parfait toast and the yellowfin tuna with nori tempura—both absolutely delicious. Their cocktails deserve a shoutout too, perfectly crafted and just the right balance for a chill evening. Time saving notes: Food Whipped Cod Roe Dip, Ikura, Ruffles $110 🦖Liver Parfait Toast, Blueberry (2pc) $90 🦖Steak Tartare, Yuzu Ponzu, Wasabi, Soy Cured Egg Yolk $185 🦖Yellowfin Tuna, Flagrant Pickled Ginger, Nori Tempura (2pc) $130 Burrata, Spicy Pesto, Fennel, Roasted Grapes (v) $130 Green Asparagus, Sugar Snap Peas, Ricotta, Fried Okra (v) $110 Pork Katsu Sando, Papaya Pickles, Crispy Onions $120 Dessert Pavlova, Passionfruit, Kiwi, Berries $65 Cocktails ( From light to strong) Green Light $120 Izzy Does It $120 Cult Classic $120 🦖Little Collins Cosmo $120 🦖Quincendental $120 I love them all 🦖= WOW

A Must-Visit Gem in Hong Kong! Every visit to Bourke’s on Peel Street is an unforgettable experience! From the moment you step in, the warm vibes and stylish ambiance set the tone for a perfect evening. Aled, the bartender, truly made our night special, his hospitality, energy, and perfectly crafted drinks made us feel like regulars even on our first visit. The food is absolutely outstanding! The steak was cooked to perfection, juicy and tender in a rich, flavorful sauce. And the chicken parmigiana? It’s hands-down one of the best we’ve had, crispy, cheesy, and incredibly satisfying. This is the spot in Hong Kong for great food, impeccable drinks, and unbeatable atmosphere. We’ll keep coming back every time we’re in town. Don’t miss it!

Shady Acres was my favourite in town and now, same location, different name different style yet still amazingly great in its way. Finally, a place in town to do a proper mixed green beans fresh salad with mash. Awesome hospitality even though the place is packed. New love :)

Formerly known as Shady Acres, a neighborhood bar that has been standing on Central's Peel Street for some years has now become Bourke's. The bar manager told us that this restaurant & bar is inspired by the lively atmosphere of Bourke Street in Melbourne, Australia. The bar has collected more than hundreds of brands of wine from all over the world, from premium brands to popular choices. At the same time, it offers a series of special cocktails and delicacies. A relaxed and leisurely space.

Came for the roast dinner which was very good. Managed to book an on the day spot on ig even though they were fully booked online - great service. So many great components to the roast dinner: fantastic roast potatoes, the mint peas in the Yorkshire pudding was refreshing & the little details like the oven baked garlic - melted in your mouth. The only downside was my actual chicken being far too salty. I did inform the management & they said it’s the first they’ve heard of this - so maybe I was the unlucky one. But overall I rly liked the roast dinner ! The service is also exceptional as always!
