All the staff is helpful and patient, they have a huge selection of dresses so you'll definitely find something for you. And the decor is so charming! Will definitely be back & definitely recommend it😊

I just wanted to express how amazing my experience has been at 1861 the past several times I’ve gone! I also want to thank them for ACTUALLY being size inclusive!! I am a size 18/ 20 and normally I dread shopping because there is not enough selection in my size and it’s usually not very fashionable or stylish. But this wasn’t the case for me yesterday. Two women really took care of me and found a selection of 10 dresses I could try on! Now, not all of them fit but I actually had some amazing choices! I am elated at the dress I found as well as the entire shopping experience, I am so grateful! I have also had many great past shopping experiences and have brought several friends to buy dresses here. It never disappoints! Highly recommended!

Beautiful store and beautiful collection of dresses and other clothing items. The staff is really helpful, nice and friendly. Got a dress from here for my friend’s engagement; worth every penny! They even steamed my dress before packing it.

Lovely shop! Visited on a trip to Montreal and loved everything from the accessories to the dresses to the service. Quality is very good and staff is so lovely- Mireille was a huge help and consistently brought me different sizes and helped me find shoes and accessories to match! 10/10

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I visited this store with my friend. I was trying to pick up a few items before my flight back to NYC. I was treated so terribly by what seems to be the manager of the store. She was intentionally following my friend and I around, staring us down with constantly with hate in her eyes. I was so shocked by the behavior. I kept asking my friend if we were doing something wrong. The rest of the staff was super helpful and sweet. I felt bad leaving without buying anything, but I couldn’t justify spending my money after being treated that way! This woman (dark hair, pale skin with brown eyes) needs to be fired! I saw a few other comments complaining about the same behavior. Please do something about this woman!

I wanted to write a review to talk about not only my wonderful experiences whenever I shop online at Boutique1861 but also how great the people behind the scenes over there are as well. I've loved every single item I've bought, so much so that I sometimes buy more than one of the same item because I want to have an extra one just in case. And each time I've had a question or concern, the customer service team has just been so helpful and lovely and made me feel very supported. For online shoppers like me, it's not just what a store has for sale that keeps me coming back, it's the people who look after us as well that matter. Case in point: whenever I go on a shopping spree on the website, the customer service team takes the time to go over my orders and see where I can save money with shipping - all without being asked. That kind of customer service really stands out in my opinion, because it's going above and beyond what you can do for your customer. So I want to say thank you to everyone who works at Boutique1861. My daughter had her prom last week and she got lots of compliments that day, thank you boutique 1861 with this amazing dress. At first, it was hard to find dresses for my daughter, may be we're Asian, not tall enough to carry most of the styles, also we are based in Toronto but one day, I saw your website and was thinking this dress is the one for my daughter. Though we couldn't make a trip to Montreal, they provided details measurements spec and so we ordered online. She looks beautiful 😍. Thank you.

Edit: dress worked perfectly this past weekend for the wedding I attended. Decided to buy a dress online through this shop, and my expectations were guarded since I typically buy wedding guest dresses through Lulu's. But decided to look through and see what they had. They had wonderful selection and price points from 80$ to over 600$, for the dresses I was looking at, I decided on buying a floral 3 tiered dress with the tie back. It arrived today and I can say I'm impressed with the packaging and care they took to wrap the dress together and the lovely note too, It even smelled like flowers! Maybe that was my nose playing tricks lol 😆. For the price I payed for the dress I'm very impressed with everything, I will def be buying more dresses from here and when I stop by Montreal during the winter I'm definitely stopping into the shop! Thanks so much I love love love this dress 🥰.

First i need to clarify that I made my purchase online so I cannot comment as to the in store experience. However I was so impressed with the online experience I had to write a review anyways. So first I was very excited that the dress I was interested in was available in plus sizes - i used the sizing chart and because I was inbetween I sized up deciding if I needed to I would get it altered. if I didn't like it I could send it back because they have a solid return policy. I ordered the dress on a Thursday morning, paid for standard shipping and assumed it would arrive sometime next week since I live in Alberta. Imagine my shock when it arrived the NEXT DAY. Opened it up and everything was beautifully wrapped in ribbon with a beautiful note to boot. The dress is gorgeous - it will definitely need some hemming but I could not be more thrilled. I 100% will be buying from here again.

I went Sunday Oct 6th with my bridesmaids to look at wedding dresses & bridesmaids dresses. The dresses are beautiful and well priced. but the lack of customer service made the experience less enjoyable. I found a few staff members had attitude. I was ready to drop over 1000.00$ for my wedding dress & 5 brides maid dresses and they didn't seem to care. waiting almost 25 minutes to check out, and the cashier wanted to give me the sample dress without a garnet bag... the dress was worn multiple times and not so white anymore. I asked if I could get a new one as she rolled her eyes and walked away to get a brand new one. again the prices are good, just don't have high expectation for customer service.

Boutique 1861 is one of those places where you could easily get carried away and max out your credit card. Fortunately I was able to show restraint when I shopped here but let me tell you that it wasn't easy. I came here for a bridesmaid dress and there was vast selection over a wide price range. The bride whom I was serving as maid of honour for had given me carte blanche for the dress so narrowing down one at a place like 1861 was no easy task. In the end I chose a royal blue one for a very reasonable price of $150. It fit me perfectly and I got lots of compliments on it so I was very happy with my purchase. I would definitely come here again if I needed a dress for the future.

I have only ever shopped at 1861's online store, so this review is a reflection of that experience. Ordering from 1861.ca is a treat. The online experience is pleasant, and there re bilingual agents on the other end of a chat box if you ever have any questions. I always get the best compliments on the stuff I order from there. I live in a city where there are few great boutiques, so it's nice to have outfits that aren't the same as every. other. person. at. work. Getting 1861.ca packages in the mail is a delight. The wrapping is beautiful, and smells awesome (they have an arrangement with Fruits and Passion). My only complaint is that sometimes the clothing sizes aren't available in larger sizes. I am an average sized woman, and it frustrates me when shops don't carry average human sizes.

Oh I adore this shop in Montreal it is such a gem with something for everyone. The top floor is Boudior 1861. There you can find gowns for events, weddings and more. I have found a lot of decent priced formal great gowns. The prices start at $69.00. The middle section is more dress down and casual but as well they have some more formal attire. They are always busy and pumped. If you see anything online get in as soon as possible as it will sell out fast. The bottom floor is the sales room. I have found gowns starting at $10 regular priced $100. Along with shoes, designer clothing and more. The sales staff are great and very helpful. As well it has street parking. I highly recommend this shop as they will do everything to help you be satisfied !

I thought this store was called Le Petite Garconne because that is what it says in the store on the wall and in the window, but apparently they are owned by the same company. Anyways, I loved this shop so much! Really great pieces for very surprising prices! I was visiting Montreal from the US and I couldn't believe what amazing deals they had for the quality pieces they sold. I will be definitely shopping online from their stores. If you are in the St Laurent area, this was my favorite boutique and it is a must see for any woman shopping in the area.

This store is special. This concept is special. I went randomly and loved it. Dresses are so cool and the atmosphere makes you feel so special. Youll definitely be happy to have an extra amazing piece of clothes in your closet. Also, thus is te BEST if you know you have a gala or prom or whatever

i have been waiting to try something on since noon . its is now 5 pm . This place has no limit to what ladies can try on and many girls leave their cabins for tens of minutes at a time. the workers are really not sensitive to anyone trying on clothes. they really suck

So. Cute. The store is stocked full of amazing dresses, tops , and skirts. The aesthetic of the shop is so beautiful and the workers themselves are friendly and helpful!

I bought a lovely top for a special event, and when I went to put it on that evening, I realized that the anti theft tag was still on. I couldn't wear the top. Thankfully, I had a back up as I was hosting a gala. When I tried to return the top two days later, they refused to reimburse me. I told them that I had bought it for a special event, and hadn't been able to wear it, but there was no way they were refunding me. I think this is outrageous. I will be giving my credit note as a gift, and am never setting foot in that store again. That is NOT what I call customer service.

Do not order a bridesmaid dress from this company. Terrible quality, terrible customer service, 100% regret purchasing. Zero responsibility for defective dresses, zero help offered to their customers who need to get a dress altered because it was sent defective, zero chance I will ever ever ever spend another dollar at this store. I am in a wedding party of 8 women. We all ordered the Tiziana dress from Boutique 1861 in Burgundy. It fit everyone like a dream, the colour and silhouette was beautiful - I was showing pictures to everyone, raving about the company and its beautiful dresses. I spent a few months travelling abroad, and just a few weeks ago finally got my hands on the dress. We had ordered a dress the previous year for everyone to try on, so I knew that this dress would be perfect on my body, knew my size, etc. I tried on the dress the other day to gauge if I would need any alterations done, and I notice that one side of the top of the dress is sewn under - making the entire top twist in a very ugly and asymmetrical way. I look under the dress, and see that whoever had sewn the dress had slipped with the sewing machine/fallen asleep at the machine/who knows. The dress is discontinued at this point, and the wedding is in November 2019 (2 months from now). Seeing the stitches, I knew that the dress could be fixed by a seamstress. Because the dress was sent to me defective, I contacted the company to see if there was any way they could help me (cover the cost of the alterations, allow me to send the dress back to them for fixing, etc.) I paid $200 for the dress as pictured on the website, the same dress that everyone else received in perfect condition. I understand that accidents do happen, but when you are advertising a product a certain way and charging a decent amount for it, you have to deliver that product to the customer, and take accountability when you send out a product that is defective. Did their quality control team fall asleep as well?! I contacted customer service, and because I was contacting them outside of their 30-day return policy, they could do absolutely NOTHING for me. They couldn't even cover the $39 alteration fee that I was quoted from a local alterations company. They went all the way to "speak with the president," and still told me that there was nothing they could do. I explained that I had been travelling out of the country for a few months, and just got my hands on the dress. They basically said "too bad, once the dress has left our hands, and it is past 30 days, it is the customer's responsibility." Absolutely zero ownership, pride, or accountability in their product. I have to spend more money to get the dress that I was supposed to get in the first place. Honestly, save your money. Being in a bridal party is stressful enough without having to beg a company for a couple dollars to repair a dress that they sent to you defective. I am sick about this whole thing. I understand if I had said "oh I don't like it, I'd like to return it" - that's when the 30 day policy should kick in. But they are sending out defective products and claiming that they are not responsible for their screw up outside of 30 days. It is wrong! Oh and the kicker is that I am maid of honour in another wedding, and was about to purchase 8 additional dresses from this company, plus a maid of honour dress. Like I said, they have lost me as a customer and I will be telling every bride, maid of honour, bridesmaid about the awful customer service, and awful dress quality from now until the end of time. I wish I could add photos to this post so that you could see how truly f-ed up my dress is.

I really enjoyed shopping here. I would say that this is a dress store. You go here when you're looking for a dress for a special event - graduation, wedding, special party, something like that. Everything is well organized and quite beautiful. I like the colour-coding method. The dressing rooms are very pretty and have good lighting. I like the sale section in the basement and I found the sales people to be very helpful. I like this area of St. Laurent for clothes shopping as there are several boutiques right near each other. And this is the best one for dresses.

I loved it here! It wasn't the best of circumstances. There were A TON of people. I think they were shopping for prom dresses and the staff seemed to be extremely stressed about the amount of people. The service was a bit slow but to be expected considering the amount of young girls and their mothers that were with them. When I finally got the attention of the manager of the store (I was shopping for a maid of honor dress as well as a mother of the bride dress) and advised her what I was looking for, the whole situation changed. The service was a bit faster. The manager kept getting me the sizes I needed as soon as I asked. Honestly, I am very pleased and cannot wait to go back... when it's not prom dress time.

Whenever I have an event, 1861 is my go-to boutique. They have an amazing turnover of dresses so there is always something new and if a dress is very popular they will often order more. My only experience has been at the St Laurent boutique and it is always a happy, relaxing one. The sales staff are always polite, and are happy to take the time to help you with sizes or to style your outfit with shoes and accessories so you can see what works and what doesn't. I have nothing but glowing things to say!

1861 is the first place I go to when I need a dress. Many of their pieces may be a little too "young" for me, but I always find something unique, pretty, and affordable. It is often crowded, so I now tend to order online (really quick!). I am wearing one of their dresses for my wedding and I can't wait!

Super cute prom and wedding clothes! Very crowded around prom time. There are a chain of many sister stores near each other. You have to take off your winter boots during the winter time.

This shop was well worth the experience! The saleswomen were extremely helpful and friendly, but not overwhelmingly pushy to make a sale. The women were genuinely helpful, one even going out of her way to try on a skirt I wasn't sure would fit my friend I was buying for! Very cute and unique clothes with very reasonable prices. Overall one of the best experiences I've had in a clothing store!

Love this place. The store is small and can be crowded but everyone working there is so friendly and helpful. I also love that their clothes look so good and are not too pricey. I am tiny and most of the smalls fit me some were a little big on me. Also ordered a dress online and asked to pick it up at the store. I ordered it at 8pm and emailed them asking if i could pick it up at 3pm instead of 5 they checked and told me that it would be ready. So happy about how helpful they were and i love the dress! Definitely will shop there again!

Called in as recommended on their website to make sure a certain dress was in the store, but was not. They would transfer the dress from their other store and call back when it was in. I waited over a week to hear from them and called back. Unfortunately the salespeople are not well trained and did not have a clue about how to do a transfer. When we finally went in to try the dress, it was more confusion and poor training of staff who were all young and even rude. This sort of store is alright for the young, but not for those who know better. In the end we did not buy anything there, left, never to return again.

This was a lovely experience. My daughter shopped online for her prom dress and loved the original, understated and elegant choices. The gowns arrived packaged beautifully - even just opening the boxes with their lovely tissue paper and ribbons was a treat. Customer service was superb and my daughter was lovely in - and excited with - her new gown. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience, start to finish.

Shipping was relatively quick, i ordered it on Sunday and got it on friday. Packaging was beautiful, very luxurious which is to be expected when paying 100+$ for clothing. But when i tried it on, it didnt fit properly, i ordered an xs and i am about 5'2 and 115 pounds. It fit around the bust and waist beautifully but the hips were really baggy and the dress is very long. In the picture is was a mid-calf/knee length dress but when i got it, it was very long on me which is not good because im wearing it to my boyfriends graduation and its only suppose to be a cocktail type dress, not my grad dress, im not graduating this year so a floor lenth dress to wear to someone elses graduation aint good. So i will have to tailor it to be shorter and less baggy. Also, its kinda see through, its a white dress and it does have a nude slip underneath but for 120$ i would think the nude slip would be a thicker material, its a very nice and soft material but its not thick so i will just have to wear nude underwear with it. I guess its good in a sense that i wont over heat in the dress. The quality is extremely nice to say the least but im just being very nit picky because it was very expensive. Overall, shipping was fast, dress looks like the picture, nice quality and fits ok. They need to have a wider selection of sizes and i would have preferred thicker material but the material wasnt cheap feeling at all, also its verrryyyyyyy pricey.
