Boutiquehotel Blaue Burg Falkenstein (Pfronten, Bavaria) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"It’s an understatement to call Boutique-Hotel Blaue Burg’s location spectacular. Perched more than 4,000 feet above the fairy-tale landscapes of Bavaria, it’s set amid the peaks of the Allgäu Alps, right next to the oldest castle ruins in Germany. A fine dining venue has brought more traffic to the steep mountain pass in recent years, and since staying the night makes more sense than driving back down the mountainside in the dark, the property has expanded to include a stylish family-run boutique hotel." - Tablet Hotels

We stayed overnight to enjoy dinner at their 1 Michelin star restaurant PAVO. The location is breathtaking, with excellent views of the valleys and surrounding mountains. Stunning sunset! The rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious. We had the room Talblick, with a large window facing the valley at 1250m above sea level. Perfect vantage point for a beautiful sunset (May-July). Highly recommended. Very good breakfast buffet. The restaurant 1250 also offers a nice selection of dishes for lunch and dinner, as alternative to the pricier Michelin starred restaurant.

What a stunning place to stay. We came by car from Salzburg through Garmisch-Partenkircen, beautiful scenery and still snow up on the mountains. Unfortunately when we arrived at Falkenstein, the rain had started and the fog and clouds reduced the visibility. We had the very nice Casablanca room with a nice porch outside the room. We had forgotten to make a reservation at the 1 star Michelin restaurant, but the food served that was included in the room charge was as close to 1 star as you can get. The fresh oysters with Yuzu were the best ever. The wine chart leaves nothing to be desired and the views are stunning, even in the weather conditions we experienced. Only one thing to say, we will be back.

Lovely dinner location. The service is always great and the food amazing! They are also flexible in making changes for vegetarians. I was especially impressed that these options were so delicious. Often in high class cuisine the dishes with fish and meat are outstanding while vegetarian dishes are good but not amazing. These really had me thinking about them for days 😅 I recommend this when you have something to celebrate! Super fun You can also visit the little ruins close by and have a lovely view.

The location is undeniably stunning; perched high in the mountains, it offers unparalleled views. The drive up is not for the faint-hearted or inexperienced! The delicious breakfast, a true highlight. ||||Our suite was a bit warm, and I couldn't figure out how to adjust the Dyson fan and no one to call for assistance! I couldn’t figure out the room safe either! The staff, though not rude, seemed overworked, managing various hotel tasks. With more attention to service , I would  have enjoyed my stay there a bit more. Or maybe if I was more techy and didn’t need any assistance ! ||||Overall it is a unique and beautiful mountain-top retreat that is perfect for a one-night escape.

Wonderful place to relax and take in the beautiful views! You can close your eyes and take pictures in any direction and you’d have a postcard. We been going here for many years but the family had refurbished it recently and did a fantastic job. Make sure you time your visit carefully. It’s a narrow winding road they only lets people go up or down at certain times in the hour. Enjoy!!

What a find, this hotel sits at the top of a long drive. On arrival it looks like a nice hotel but walk in the front door and wow! The decor is that of a very upmarket chic chalet with lots of soft wood flooring and wall treatments. Walk through to the outdoor terrace and you are treated with one of the very best views in the world. High up you feel you could reach out and touch the snow lined mountains and down below the beautiful alpine meadows. Stunning. The staff were excellent . They treat you as a treasured guest in their own home where nothing is too much trouble. The room was large, airy and equally luxurious an£ the food of a very high standard. We will definitely make sure we visit here again.

This hotel was absolutely FABULOUS! It is a little off the regular tourist route, but completely worth it, especially if you are planning to visit Neuschwanstein. My husband and I spent 2 nights here and purchased a package with breakfast and dinner included. Even though the dinner menu was limited (only choice was the main course), it had plenty of variety and was well worth the money. The food was also a higher quality and presentation than we are used to so it felt extra special to us. We loved the hotel and sprawling landscapes so much that we spent an entire day just lounging around and admiring the view. The staff were all very welcoming and happy to answer any questions we had. Everyone spoke enough English that we never had to stress about translation. I cannot say enough good things about staying here.
