Casa El Edén (Quito, Ecuador) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"This six-room mansion in Quito's UNESCO-listed Old Town is owned and operated by Mario and Blanca, a couple who ran a homestay for international students for 15 years before opening their boutique hotel in 2014. The century-old townhouse wraps around a central atrium, with rooms themed after Ecuadorian fruits, an eccentric choice that somehow works. Blanca handles the orchids and breakfast procurement, while Mario, a psychologist and marathon runner, offers guided running tours of the city for guests willing to brave the 9,000-foot elevation. It is the rare small hotel where the owners' presence enhances more than intrudes, a balance most properties never achieve." - Tablet Hotels

My partner and I had a fantastic experience staying at Casa El Eden. Mr Mario and Blanca are exceptional hosts and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The property is beautiful and the rooms are immaculate. The location is perfect for being able to easily walk to all of the attractions in the historical centre. We are very thankful for such a great stay and would highly recommend Casa El Eden to anyone coming to Quito

Our stay at Casa El Eden was the best introduction to Quito that we could have hoped for. Many of the amazing sights that Quito has to offer are within a short walk of the hotel. The accommodation is run to perfection by the kindest hosts, Mr Mario and Blanca. They went above and beyond to make sure that we had the best experience. I couldn't recommend staying here more highly.

Location - in the heart of Old Town, walking distance to all the major sights. We felt totally safe walking around this crowded historic area. Hotel - quaint; a beautifully decorated hotel with just 6 rooms. Room - my husband and I had a superior double room. It was very clean and seemed larger than it looked in the pictures with its high ceilings. You can see that the open shower is right in the room but it didn't feel cold or water spray outside it. I was happy that the shower spray was very strong. Hosts - I can't say enough about the hospitality of Mario, the kind warm owner. His wife Blanca and helper Susanne were also wonderful but didn't speak much English. Mario was always around to greet us and answer any inquiries we had about the town. Breakfast - a hearty breakfast of eggs, bread rolls, freshly cut fruit, cereal, smoothie, coffee. My only complaint is that our room faced the street and I'm a light sleeper. I could hear the party buses and motorcycles during the night. My husband slept right through it though. So if you're a light sleeper, pay a little more and try to get a room on the inside. I'd definitely stay here again next time in Quito.

We started our 5-week Ecuador trip with 4 nights at this hotel, hoping for a safe and calm introduction to Quito and it truly delivered! Mario and Blanca were always present and incredibly helpful with every request. We booked several one-day tours through the hotel (visible on their website), and their guides were professional and knowledgeable about Quito and beyond (Mindo, Cotopaxi, Otavalo, Baños, Cuenca, etc.). These connections to guides proved valuable throughout our trip as we could easily reach them at WhatsApp. The hotel experience was wonderfully personal. Mario personally introduced guests to each other at intimate breakfasts in the amazing patio, surrounded by unique furniture, wall paintings, cozy rooms, and a fine little library. Our room (Chirimoya) was massive with a fantastic in-room shower. We chose it because it faced the street rather than the covered patio and the street wasn’t noisy at all. Several mornings and evenings we took hotel ponchos to the rooftop to read and watch the city. You can easily see the Virgin of El Panecillo monument from there. We felt very safe throughout our stay. Of course, take appropriate precautions in any bustling city: Keep your passport and most cash in a belt under your clothes. One tip: use the metro! It’s modern, feels safe, runs smoothly and quietly, and costs just $0.50 regardless of distance.

I had an amazing experience staying with Mario and Blanca, the owners of Casa El Eden. I did not put "Hotel" in front of the name because it felt like I was visiting family. They and the staff go well above any expectations in taking care of their guests. I truly feel they are my friends in Quito after this trip. The hotel is lovely from an architectural perspective and is super comfortable. It is perfectly located to allow walking to almost anything one would want to experience in Quito. I will only stay at Casa El Eden during any future trips to Quito.

What a fantastic hotel in Quito! It is located in the old town, a few minutes walk from the main square. This was our first time in Ecuador and Mario and Bianca could not have been better hosts. The hotel itself is lovely - unique, and quite large rooms in a beautiful old house. Strongly recommend it.

We ended up taking over Casa Eden with our group. Mario and Blanca are impeccable hosts! The hotel itself is beautiful, clean, beds comfortable. Mario and Blanca helped us with laundry and even an alterations situation we needed to resolve. Blanca patiently sat with my daughter who loves art and painted with her. I have been to Quito many times but never stayed downtown, and I can’t recommend Casa Eden or the experience more. It was nice not to deal with traffic in reaching all the main sights. There was so much security in the area, that we felt safe even with our children. Coming back to the hotel was a perfect little oasis.

We are grateful to have had such a gem of a place to stay whilst in Quito. The rooms are beautifully appointed and really comfortable. Mario and Blanca are excellent hosts and you couldn’t find a more caring and helpful team. Nothing was too much trouble. Taxis arranged, recommendations and always on hand to welcome you in and out. Breakfast was also delicious. We enjoyed the roof top terrace and honesty bar as well! Highly recommend this hotel for a stay in Quito.
