Casa Rosa Villa Hotel, Olhao, Algarve, Portugal - Explore & Book

"While many tourists head west for big surf and big hotels, a more cosmopolitan mix of people find themselves in beautiful Olhão. Once a quiet fishing village, it’s now a vibrant town with a distinctly Moroccan vibe (owed, in part, to the fact it’s twinned with Agadir). There, the newly opened Casa Rosa sits proudly, with its pink-washed walls, on a pretty, tree-lined street. Known locally as the ‘pink house’, it was built in the 1950s but left in disrepair until new owners Colum and David stumbled across it and fell in love. They spent three years transforming the sophisticated 9-bedroom hotel – one that feels part-Portuguese quinta, part-Moroccan riad, with plenty of bohemian, artistic flair. Take a stroll down the winding, cobblestone streets towards the waterfront and you’ll find shops, cafes, restaurants and some of the freshest seafood around (Olhão’s the Algarve’s largest fishing port, so there’s nowhere better to enjoy it). On a hot, sunny day, we had a hard time leaving the pool – the passionfruit mojitos had something to do with it – but there’s a lot to explore. You’re centrally positioned among the Algarve’s best beaches, with the Ria Formosa national park on your doorstep. Highs Gorgeous courtyard and terrace overlooking Olhao – perfect for alfresco dining and lounging, with areas for sun and shade-seekers Lots of generous touches: big, comfy beds, eco-friendly toiletries, and a flask of herbal tea left at turndown Owners Colum & David will make you want to move to Olhão just to hang out Unlike other places in the Algarve, people actually live in Olhão so it doesn’t feel like a tourist town Good value for money which adds to the laid-back, welcoming feel Lows The pool is small so you can’t swim laps, but it’s perfect for a relaxing dip Olhão has a lovely harbour but the closest beaches are a drive (or ferry boat/water taxi) away There’s no surf, but almost every other watersport is available There aren’t any TVs in any of the rooms, which we didn’t miss but some people might Shops and restaurants in Olhão are mostly closed on Sundays, so plan accordingly" - Leona Ford

Casa Rosa was the perfect spot to complete our trip to the Algarve. Besides completely falling in love with the town of Olhao, Casa Rosa won a piece of our hearts as well. The accommodations were beautiful- from the pool, outdoor dining and lounge areas, and our well decorated, comfortable, quiet room. The staff were excellent and extremely helpful, even offering to book a dinner reservation for us before we arrived. We have and will continue to recommend Casa Rosa to anyone visiting the area!

Lovely oasis in central location. Truly enjoyed our stay at Casa Rosa. Well designed rooms organized around a central courtyard for sunbathing, pool hangout or relaxing in the shade. Friendly staff that truly made you feel like you were a guest in someone's house. And to top all of that off an amazing breakfast - a small buffet with high quality produce and eggs cooked on demand. From the hotel you can easily walk to the Olhão waterfront in 10 minutes. Shops and restaurants are just around the corner. The only thing I missed was hotel parking. We now were forced to rely on street parking and constantly topping up the digital meter.

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Rosa. It is the most beautiful villa - so tastefully restored with gorgeous colours, light and furnishings. The location is perfect within walking distance to the ferry, train station and wonderful restaurants. But what really makes this place special is the service we received from Sara and Marcos. They couldn't have been more helpful - nothing was a problem. When a friend decided to travel with us at the last minute Sara reconfigured the rooms to make it possible for her to stay with us at Casa Rosa. And the breakfast was delicious - Sara's French Toast is not to be missed! We will definitely be back to Olhao but only if we can stay again at Casa Rosa.

We spend two nights in Casa Rosa and really enjoyed the experience. The room was in excellent condition. We really enjoyed the sun terras en pool. Breakfast was great and the afternoon tea was a treat. The staff was exeptionally friendly and helpful. Also I'd like to mention they have an extra bathroom/changing room in case the room is not ready yet or if you need to leave later in the day. You can have a nice shower after a long trip at arrival or before one at departure. Excellent service. Thank you, Marc and Laura

Sarah and Marcus are wonderful and helpful as well as the staff. (and Marcus makes a wicked cocktail) The quaint Hotel is super nice with terraces and a small pool to relax in and is centrally located to Olhao. Breakfast is substantial. It was a wonderful place for me to experience Portugal for the first time!
