I recently stayed at Boutique Hotel Sablon in Bruges and overall had a mixed experience.
Positives:
• Room & Comfort: The room was nicely decorated with a lovely view and felt comfortable. I appreciated the little touches like the Nespresso machine and complimentary water. When I asked for milk for my coffee, it was delivered very quickly, which was a nice detail.
• Location: Absolutely unbeatable — 10/10. You can easily walk to all the main attractions, and there is nearby parking (just be sure to have the proper permit in advance, as same-day registration isn’t possible).
Negatives:
• Cleanliness: Unfortunately, the cleanliness was not up to standard. I found dust throughout the room, an item of underwear left under the bed, and later, when my luggage was moved to another room, I discovered that a box of chocolates in my backpack had been opened and partly eaten. This was very disappointing.
• Noise: The first night was very noisy, with a group outside talking and laughing from around 5:00 to 6:30 am, which made it difficult to sleep. We tried calling the reception at both 5:30 and 6:00 am, but nobody answered, which made the situation even more frustrating.
• Service: While the receptionist was polite and personally came to clean the floor, it was surprising this was necessary in a hotel of this standard. She did try to make up for it by leaving us a fresh box of chocolates, which I appreciated.
Overall, while the location and room setup were great, the lack of cleanliness, unanswered reception calls, and noise issues made the stay less comfortable than expected. With improvements in housekeeping, responsiveness, and attention to detail, this could be a truly wonderful place to stay.
