Boutique Hotel The River House

What a fantastic find in Andermatt. The River House has been a labour of love for the owners which has resulted in a charming boutique hotel, full of thoughtful touches and an authentic but contemporary feel. We stayed two nights and really enjoyed the room, service food and drink. The location is central and parking is close by. They were great at sorting out easy access secure parking for us too. The team happily arranged an early breakfast this morning as we were leaving before the service starts. Would thoroughly recommend anyone to stay

I stayed here on the first day of my first visit to Switzerland. The hosts here, Kevin and Sarah, were very friendly and gracious. Breakfast was very carefully prepared by them and was delicious. The room decor was lovely and the view of the quiet river from the room was relaxing. We were glad we chose this hotel as our first day! It is a long way from Japan, but it is one of the hotels I would like to stay at again. Thank you.

My son and I stayed here for our first time skiing in Andermatt. For a very reasonable price, this was a really beautiful hotel with really nice staff that were extremely helpful and kind. The breakfasts were delicious. The restaurant had a very cool vibe. The location about halfway between Nätschen and Gemsstock was perfect, allowing a quick walk to either gondola or a quick free shuttle ride when we were very tired after skiing. Right in the middle of everything in town. We would come here again anytime!!

Kevin and Sarah are gracious hosts and the rest of the staff are top notch! On site bar and kitchen offer exceptional handmade food and drink. An easy walk to both ski arenas, and you can easily walk to all of the great dining in the town center. Atmosphere was like coming home. No stuffiness or oneupmanship here. Highly recommended. Well stay here again for sure!

We stayed there for a ski-weekend for two nights and we where impressed, what they made out of this house. Inside renovation with the hotelrooms (not to big and high but super nice and cozy) and the bar (or restaurant, depending on the day-time) and the breakfast area , all tiny with a good concept and nice owners who run that place. Here you can stay and enjoy the old town from Andermatt in a nice hotel, on the river and in walking distance to all what you need (winter and summer time). I can recommend your stay there.

We had a wonderful meal there (make a reservation as there are not a lot of tables). Delighful negroni from the bar and we each had the steak with potato au gratin and vegetables - was delish and just the right amount of food. Reasonably priced.

We had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful Christmas Lunch there, and every bite was a testament to their culinary artistry. The Coffee-Crusted Lamb was a revelation—tender, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with a subtle hint of coffee that elevated the dish. The Succulent Ribs lived up to their name, falling off the bone with a smoky glaze that left us craving more. The Risotto and Pork Sausage was comfort food at its finest, boasting rich, hearty flavors that paired beautifully with the creamy risotto. To complement the meal, we indulged in Irish Coffee and sampled the local beer, both of which added a festive cheer to our lunch. The local beer was crisp and refreshing, while the Irish Coffee was perfectly crafted with just the right amount of warmth and sweetness. The highlight, however, was the desserts—an array of the most delicious sweet treats that beautifully rounded off our meal. Each bite was a burst of flavor, showcasing the chef's exceptional skill and attention to detail. With its cozy ambiance, attentive service, and outstanding food, Di Alt Apothek made our Christmas Lunch truly special. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in a memorable dining experience. We can't wait to return!

I've had the distinct pleasure of visiting this place several times during my travels through Andermatt. The bar is well stocked with top shelf product, the food is really carefullly prepared by a talented chef, and the rooms (ours at least) are very cozy. Really cant recommend highly enough.

Great little boutique hotel in a lovely area. Superb walking, if you have the calves for it. We stayed "en route" for just one night, but they were very welcoming and the dogs were welcome too. The room was a good size, nicely furnished with a very comfortable bed. The open plan of the room was a bit strange, but it was made up for by the view of the valley and the river. The only disappointment was that the restaurant was closed, so we had to eat down the road. We will go back, if only to try the local dishes.
