Quaint, olde worldly guest house, filled with period furniture and art. Great coffee for breakfast, with toast and jam, cartons of juice and packaged cakes. Host is lovely, and really helpful (only Spanish spoken). Easy walking distance to centre of town and 40mins drive to Cordoba.

😊: The location was good for us because it’s very quiet and was easy to park even with bikes on the back.We walked to restaurants and to Alvear Bodega.It is a reasonable distance to travel in to Cordoba easily too which meant we could visit the stunning Patios festival without needing to stay in Cordoba itself. The accommodation is welcoming, easy to access, spotlessly clean, represents amazing value for money.. 😢: I didn’t realise that ‘private bathroom’ didn’t mean en-suite- walking along the corridor ,unlocking our bedroom then bathroom door was a bit of a pain and ,as we hadn’t realised ,had no dressing gowns,a bit complicated in the morning in full view of anyone else having breakfast.I think ( all?) other rooms were en-suite The room was rather small and there wasn’t anywhere else to go to sit and read etc. Breakfast was the most basic we’ve ever been offered- white sliced toast, packet muffins, a carton of orange juice and very good coffee..

We stumbled across this guesthouse while touring the wine regions of Andalusia. If you want to sample clean traditional Spanish accommodation without any of the mass corporate Americanised tack then this is for you. ||Two of the generous double bedrooms are ensuite, one of which has only recently been added - contrary to the previous reviewer. A third cheaper room option is a standard double where the private bathroom (given a key on checkin) is 5 metres down the hall, hardly an inconvenience but worth noting while choosing your room. ||We opted for the third cheaper room option and everything was spotlessly clean. TV in the room has some English speaking channels, CNN etc (not that we watched much tv!). ||The guesthouse is adorned with local art and history which makes this place truly independent. The moment you walk in the tall front doors you know this is going to be unique and memorable experience for the right reasons. ||The location is spot on with a beautiful large traditional church at one end of the quiet side street and access in Montilla centre 50 metres the other end.||The guesthouse is managed by May who was incredibly helpful in pointing us in the right directions and making sure we got he most out of our stay. She also prepared a wonderful breakfast at the time of our choosing each morning. ||There are plenty of wine cellars to visit around this area and we couldn’t have picked a better guesthouse to base ourselves. ||Happy travelling! |||

Everything was good except the water in the shower, it went from hot to cold without a warning! May is a friendly hostess and an artist. She sells her artwork in the hotel dining room, look for it. She can also prepare meals on order.

Lujo Pobre was a quiet place to rest and discover the enologic specialities of the area of Montilla. Personnel was very kind and nice, we had a great time with their typical dinner paired with fino tasting. They also brought us to a cellar where we can had a visit and buy quality wine. Facilities were elegant and precious. Very good experience!

Beautifuly decorated house, perfectly clean. The owner, very nice lady, is also a painter. You can buy her works for a reasonable price.

Nice rooms. Clean and a good bed. A very personal touch. Better price quality ratio than other places in Montilla.
