We stayed in Room 401 and loved the hotel’s unbeatable location— less than one minute’s walk from Residenzplatz and surrounded by Salzburg’s historic beauty. The room was spotless, modern, and comfortable, though we found it slightly compact. There was no fridge in the room nor was there a laundry service. Coffee required a trip downstairs, for staff to make whatever you requested. While they were very obliging, this was rather inconvenient, particularly early in the morning. |Breakfast was served in a cosy alcove, offering plenty of variety and eggs cooked to order. |This small, stylish hotel is a perfect location for travellers who want to immerse themselves in Salzburg’s old-town charm, enjoy excellent hospitality, and have the city’s main sights at their doorstep. We would consider staying again and recommend other travellers to have a look at it.

This is a charming small hotel. Rooms are decorated in a modern style with flair. Very clean and comfortable room with ample space and good-sized bathroom. Excellent breakfast with lots of choices. The location is very good, close to the cathedral and other major sights. We recommend it!

Superb location, immaculate room, comfortable bed, and helpful staff. The rooms we booked are standard double. It’s not huge but has more than enough space to freely move around. The bathroom is very spacious and clean with good water volume. Since it’s located on one side of the Residenze plaza (as shown in one of the photos), all the major attractions of old town Salzburg are within minutes of walk from the hotel. You save a lot of time and get to explore the town and feel its charm when it’s very quiet in early morning and late evening (even during the peak travel season of July), which also means you don’t need to worry about street noise late at night.

Stayed here for a few nights while visiting Salzburg. Absolutely great hotel to stay at. Conveniently located close to everything at the heart of Salzburg. Absolutely would stay here again without hesitation. Rooms are modern with everything you need amnesties wise. Breakfast was excellent and blew my expectations in terms of service. Everyone was very polite and helpful. Front desk staff were very courteous and provided recommendations for lunch and dinner options nearby. Rooms were clean and I didn’t have to ask for fresh towels daily, they were provided without a question. Rooms are a good size for a couple. My only gripe, and its very minor - I wish the tvs in the room were smart enabled so you could run your favorite tv apps, as all the channels provided are in their native language (minus a few news channels). Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting this beautiful town.

Highly recommended due to its very much convenient location in the middle of all attractions, right on the square of the Salzburg Cathedral. Very much friendly staff always willing to offer assistance and introduce the attractions. This was true for all the 6 people we have met during the 3 night stay. Breakfast is included if booking from the hotel's own website, which is not more expensive than other travel sites. Food was basic but great. Service was timely and with sincere care. The room was renovated well with many convenience design. The only tiny drawback is some old building smell in the guest room since this is in a hundreds year old structure, but would disappear after turning the air conditioning on.

A wonderful stay in the most central hotel in Salzburg. The owner Josef, his General Manager Mehmat and their staff do everything possible to ensure their guests are comfortable, even picking us up from the airport when our flight from UK was delayed to late evening. All the historical sites are easily walkable.

The Hotel am Dom was in an excellent location. The rooms were extremely clean, comfortable and modern. The staff was incredibly welcoming and kind. Breakfast was excellent and more than enough. I really appreciated the list that the hotel had compiled of recommend restaurants and important phone numbers, it’s very rare such information is provided by a hotel. We did end up eating dinner and one of the recommended restaurants and it was fantastic. I would definitely book with Hotel am Dom for future stays.

The location in the old town on a pedestrian only street right off the residence plaza was excellent! The room was clean and the staff was excellent. I downgraded one star because the room was very small and I thought the waste of space to have a large bathtub in the room (outside of the bathroom) and no desk or counter space. We used the closet as the counter space. The bathroom also had limited space/area to hang your towels which I found annoying. I really liked the area, the include breakfast buffet and the staff Note there is no mini fridge in the room - bummer.

Yelp
BEWARE: BREAKFAST IS NOT INCLUDED The good: 1. Awesome, awesome location and pretty safe at night!! 2. Friendly and helpful staff. The manager appears to be "excited" at all times. He talks fast and doesn't pause to listen to people. This took some getting used to but he meant no harm nor is he rude - He just talks really really fast :) 3. Guests can purchase tickets for local tours (Sound of music, jazz night, Salzburg card, etc) at the front desk. Some thoughts below: * I am a huge Sound Of Music fan however, was slightly underwhelmed by the tour. The tour guide was great but the tour (managed by panorama tour) in itself was meh. I recommend renting a car instead and driving to the locations yourself. The mountains are beautiful and you will get to see more and really soak up the beauty of Salzburg. I felt rushed during the tour and was given only so much time to take pictures. Most of the tour information came from Wikipedia. Nothing special. * Salzburg card - Highly recommend buying this card. It gives you access to almost all tourist attractions. The bad: 1. We received a warm welcome by the front desk receptionist. As we were checking in, we were "reminded" that breakfast will be served between 7.30 & 10 - almost indicating that it was part of our reservation. Of course we assumed it was included. As with most travelers, we made this reservation eons ago and had no recollection of the amenities. 3 nights later, during check out, we were slammed with an additional 80 euros - for the breakfast. Imagine the surprise. Yes, it was our fault for not verifying but we felt cheated as guests are usually reminded of these things when they check in. The hotel could have done better. Btw, there is a really cute bakery right across from the cathedral, aprx a minute walk from Am Dom. It sells awesome pastries and has a wonderful array of beverages to choose from.

Yelp
This is the cutest hotel I have been to in a while in Europe. It was very clean and wonderfully decorated. The beds were cosy, and the hotel was very quiet. The only thing I could hear were the pigeons cooing out of my window. So peaceful! The hotel is conveniently located in the altstadt where the Dom is as well as everything else- all in walking distance. The bathroom, however, wasn't very private as it is only a sliding frosted glass door. Your significant other can pretty much hear all the noise you will be making in the WC, and see you moving around. Awkward if you care about that. The staff was very friendly and helpful, but I got the feeling that they were keeping track of residents for some reason as every time I walked in or out they asked me for my room number. The other weird instance was that my BF and I went back to the room to do a little you know what, and we had the "bitte nicht storen" sign on the door all day, and suddenly the housekeeping lady was knocking and asking if we were there and if we wanted service. I expect a lot more privacy than that. Maybe she was lonely, I don't know. I also wished they were a little more bicycle touring friendly, as I got the cold shoulder from the one receptionist as I walked in from my 70 mile ride. She also insisted that I keep my expensive bicycle in the basement, which I really did not feel comfortable with as my bike is my only means of transportation and it is my life, not to mention that all of my belongings were mounted to the frame, and to remove them all and put them back on again is a huge inconvenience. And just as a tip, you can get breakfast there for extra, but if you have jet-lag and need coffee at 7 AM, since there is no coffee in the room, you can head over to Cafe Fabrizi since they will be the only ones open besides McDonald's. I would stay here again if I weren't touring by bicycle. It's really a nice, cosy retreat from the hustle-bustle of the town. Also, make sure you don't need assistance in the middle of the night because there is no staff available after 22:00.

Yelp
Hotel Am Dom had a wonderful location and the staff was great. When we would eat breakfast in the morning, the manager would come to our table to ask if we wanted eggs or anything specific other than the selection of yogurt, fruit, meats, cheeses, breads etc. that was available. We had scrambled eggs and coffee both morning, and the second morning we came down, he remembered each of our orders without us telling him (down to the cream and sugar!) I definitely recommend this quaint little hotel in the middle of the old city of Salzburg.

Yelp
Hotel am Dom is a jewel in the old city of Salzburg. I've read about it being difficult to find, but arriving by train, we took a taxi, less than 11 Euro, who delivered us right to the narrow street it is on. Our train arrived late, so we had messaged ahead - they assured us it would be no problem, and they stayed late to check us in. The room was beautiful. We had strong wifi, but the electric connection had some issues every so often. We learned you just had to make sure your key card was inserted securely (sometimes more than once) to keep the lights on. Reception the next morning was friendly and warm. We ate breakfast at the hotel, and so glad we did. It was wonderful! We ate breakfast there again the following day (our last) and by then, they treated us like family. We didn't even have to order our eggs. He remembered exactly what we liked and just brought them. The only thing I would caution you about is if you are having the room prepared for an additional guest, there is a rather high additional charge and the fold out bed is not very comfortable. I would definitely recommend and stay here again!
