"Nothing screams "metal bar" quite like a façade emblazoned with more eviscerated bike frames and machine parts than a scrap yard. Even from the exterior, "the Bovine" makes an impression. Open since 1991, this is one of Toronto's most iconic rock bars; Lenny Kravitz, U2, The Strokes, Foo Fighters, Guns N' Roses, Kings of Leon, and Mötley Crüe have all played here. With live music almost every night, the institution always has something worth checking out. Fun mixed drinks, including piña coladas and mai-tais, are a nice option in summer, when the rooftop patio is open. The beers and spirits are pretty standard, but you're not here for high-concept mixology." - Todd Plummer

Security guard rude and not helpful at all. Bar was dirty, and cocktails left much to be desired. A failed attempt at Tiki. The best part of this location is its name, and that's about it.

Such a cool venue! My partner and I had dropped by for an open mic comedy night yesterday. The aesthetic of the place is aesthetically unique. I came here about 5 years ago, but I was only at their tiki bar upstairs. It's cool that they have 2 different vibes inside the same venue.

Proper dive bar but the staff are friendly and the atmosphere is great. Had an awesome time in here. Friendly locals as well, a few craft beers on tap. There's a Mexican upstairs but we never got to try it. There is sometimes a cover charge for live bands but not for the open mic on a Sunday.

First time here. Place was packed for a private TIFF event. Staff were nice and accommodating. Sound needed to be tweaked a bit and sound guy wasn't too helpful but is what is is. Cool venue interior and exterior will keep your eyes busy. Back room has a bar as well if it's too loud up front. Bathrooms clean and well stocked. Drinks very reasonably priced.

I went to patio with the tiki bar. The ambiance was amazing. Drinks were pretty good too.

Everywhere to go in Toronto and my friend and I ended up at this Rock and Roll Dive bar. The atmosphere was unique and the crowd was all so inviting. We were met with a happy crowd and fun live music. This sort of thing isn't normally my vibe but I had an absolute blast spending my night here. It was packed but still felt like I could move around easily as well!

The Bovine has been around for like 30 years here in Toronto along the Queen West strip. It's been years since I had gone and man the place is still the same with one of the best atmospheres you can ask for in a bar. Nothing fancy but the live music regardless if you are a fan of it or not, just gives the vibe of the crowd an awesome feel. No one judges you at all either. Hope The Bovine doesn't succumb to the Condo development in our city that's taking so many awesome live music joints away.

Bovine is a staple in the Toronto music scene, the atmosphere is exciting and gives a feeling like you're hanging out at a buddy's place where you're always welcome and you meet the best people. I love every experience I've had here and if you have the chance to catch a show or even grab a drink then I highly recommend 😉
