Bow Roof House

I have been coming to Chatham for summer vacation almost my entire life. Last summer was really special because it was the first time my wife and I came as parents. We had in-tow our 1 year old, Kate. We stayed at the Bow Roof House for the first time and could not have felt more at home and taken care of. The owner, David made us feel like family. He was kind, professional, charming, and incredibly helpful. At the end of the trip we felt as if we made a friend in David. The Bow Roof is the best place to stay in town. If you’re looking for comfort, charm, location, and warm hospitality, look no further.||||The inn itself is in classic Cape Cod style. The owner Vera, and her family, are very hospitable. You can walk to Chatham Main Street, Oyster Pond, and the beach from here. And walk back for a good night’s sleep!||||Make sure you ask Vera for some of her exciting travel stories over breakfast. And don’t forget to have a cup of her coffee... it’s really as good as they say!

Overall 5/5 because you cannot beat the price of the Bow Roof House for the location & the service!! ||My boyfriend and I stayed here for a week in June. If you're just looking for a place to put your things and have a comfortable sleep with a bathroom, this is the place for you! Vera, the owner, is 92 and does a great job of changing the sheets & towels daily. She provides a standard continental breakfast that she serves to you. Take the time to talk to her during breakfast, she's very sweet!! Wifi is good too. The only drawback is that she doesn't have air conditioning, but the nights on the cape get cool so it wasn't an issue for us. She does give you a good fan, which also helped! ||Excellent location -- very close to Oyster Pond (public beach), close walk to town (less than 5 minutes) and the baseball field.

I booked this last minute for a spontaneous weekend getaway to the Cape. Vera was so accommodating with my last minute booking and also let me arrive and settle in early (before the check-in time noted). She is very sweet and you can tell she loves what she does!||||The house itself is very charming and old fashioned. My room was comfortable & clean and the beds were great. If you're looking for a 5 star spa retreat, this is not the place for you. But I spent very little time at the house since there was so much I wanted to cram into my trip. The location was IDEAL for that! It's very close to downtown shopping & restaurants and walking distance to the beach as well. The weather wasn't great when I was in town but I noticed there was a nice outdoor space with a swing at the house that would be a great place to relax when the weather is better.||||I did not eat breakfast at the house so I cannot comment on that. I did see lots of guests there enjoying breakfast around the table.

I returned last year to the Bow Roof House after an absence of many years since I stayed there several times over a four year period some 30 years ago, and have just made a second repeat visit this September 2014. The appeals of this charming establishment remain unchanged - except the building has been updated somewhat. The interior is genuine old Cape Cod with elegant rustic furniture throughout, the bedrooms are all different in style and shape, but attractive and comfortable, the communal living room with TV filled with knick-knacks, and there is a pleasant shade tree sheltering the outside deck . Vera, the venerable owner has run the place for over forty years, is a Chatham treasure, with her quirky sense of humour, and an encyclopedic memory of previous guests (many of whom are repeat visitors) which makes it heartwarming for her guests to be so well remembered. It feels more like staying with family than a commercial establishment. Stay here - you won't be sorry. And you will be welcomed back and remembered by Vera if you visit again. Compared to the impersonality of modern establishments, a stay at the Bow Roof House will make you feel you are having a true Cape Cod experience.

We couldn't have wanted for more at this charming, historic house. Vera, the owner, is a fantastic, accommodating host. Bow Roof House is very clean and we had an enormous bed. Breakfast is a chatty affair. Situated a few moments from the centre of beautiful Chatham, this made an excellent base from which to explore the Cape and the islands.

A family operated establishment full of charm and community. Breakfast in the morning is an amazing experience, you get to share a cup of coffee with other travelers and discuss plans and recommendations. The rooms are full of charm and are incredibly clean. The deck is a great place to sit and read or relax. Walking distance from various restaurants and shops. The owner Vera is charming and funny and always has a good suggestion for a restaurant or beach. I would recommend this place to anyone!

In general the stay was nice. The house is older - but clean. The carpet is old - but that matches the age of the home. The exterior is not in perfect repair - but no safety related issues. The AC in the room was a window unit - but worked fine (didnt really need it during our stay). In general the accommodations fit the price point of the B&B compared to others.||||The people running the B&B are friendly and work hard. They seem to be related, or at least come across like they are helping out Vera - who is the older lady that owns the place.||||The emphasis on the morning breakfast was focused on a quaint and high-quality. That didn't necessarily meet with how we live. For example, the coffee is made from a percolator coffee pot. So the coffee tasted great and they offered quaint small coffee cups. Note my wording choice of cup vs mug. In our Starbucks-centric life, we enjoy/need coffee by way of the 12 oz. coffee mugs we brought with us rather than the 4 oz-ish cups provided.||||The worst part? The percolator coffee pot used to create that delicious coffee only had a ~20 oz capacity. On top of that the percolator takes a significantly longer time to make that delicious blend. So the wife and I only filled our mugs 3/4 the way, but still coffee was at short supply when we were there. The solution? To combine their focus on giving a quality product with the culture of the times by buying a 2nd percolator.||||We were given the choice of an English muffin or bagel and juice (orange or cranberry). Again their focus was on quality than quantity. We have stayed at many B&B's over the years. We have stayed at some that offer a limited continental breakfast. Those limited breakfasts or normally presented in a buffet style where you could select what you wanted, prepare it yourself, and go for seconds if you please. Here again, the staff pampered you by preparing the bagel/muffin and juice for you. I chose the bagel on the first morning. The bagel was of good quality. It was toasted to a fine e crispiness with a little bit of butter and cream cheese on the side. But I didn't dare ask for a second. The look on the staffs face as we went for more coffee as they watched us fill up or coffee mugs was enough - I didn't want to compound their stress by asking for another.||||Again the staff worked hard. I felt I was imposing on them. They didn't come out and say it. But there were some non-verbal that I was reading that was telling me "Com-on man! That's not what we do here. You are expecting more than we are capable." At first I thought it was me - but my wife felt the same.||||Again it is a nice quaint place, but I think there are small changes they could make to provide a service that meets the sign-of-the-times.

For someone who is looking for old Cape charm this is the place for you. Affordable, clean but most importantly preserves the spirit of what the Cape was. Gorgeous location with amazing views right around the corner.

The Bow Roof is our home away from home. We'd never consider staying at another inn on the Cape! The owner (Vera) and her family are all so kind, welcoming, and hospitable. The rooms are comfortable and charming. The best part is that you're walking distance to Main Street and Oyster Pond Beach. If you're looking for the best place to stay in town, look no further. Say hi to Vera during breakfast time!

Inexpensive. Close to town. Old, dusty and moldy smelling. Linens were clean. Cob webs and spiders. Bathroom across a hall. Proprietor as cold as the New England winters and as dry as a potato chip. Will not return to the inn when we visit Chatham again.

Probably the best deal on the Cape, definitely in Chatham! Nice grounds and picnic area, cozy living room with evening entertainment. Clean, basic, and they make your beds- not all B and B's do! Just try to get a room on the ground floor- ours on the second floor (beneath that bow roof) had one window and next to no ventilation. Be sure to bring your own toiletries, and you might want to bring your own breakfast if you'll be there a few days- the tea and toast felt kind of skimpy after a while. There is a beach in walking distance, but it's a small inlet and crowded. You'll need to drive to Chatham beach, but oh the birds and seals and surf you can see! Have fun!

The Bow Roof is a very nice place to stay. There's Six bed rooms, and it's a very clean place. There is also a refrigerator that is open to guest and a nice porch with plenty of room. The living room is cozy and the owner has great hospitality. It is also one of if not the cheapest place to stay in Chatham.
