On the Grid : Bowen Road Fitness Trail

"High above Wan Chai, offering picture perfect views of the district, Bowen Road is bordered by Magazine Gap Road in the west and Stubbs Road in the east. This 4km, car-free path is not just for runners. There are parks, playgrounds and plenty of photo-ops that capture the concrete jungle-meets-actual-jungle nature of HK. Bonus points if you take the short hike up to Lover’s Rock—a phallus-shaped boulder used as a pilgrimage point for women with relationship and fertility issues. Insert your own Wang joke here if you must." - Isabel Foo

Fantastic jogging trail!! I read the recommendation for it this week and what can I say. I'm not sure if there is another jogging trail like it in the world. Wonderful view of Hong Kong and its impressive skyline. Was there after dark. A few joggers and walkers around. So you have enough space. All along the track you will find sports equipment, some more and some less useful. Definitely an 11 out of 10 jogging route.

A nice path for jogging, walking and relaxing next to the city. Air is refreshing. No rubbish. Historical buildings and markings along the path. 3km long. Worth going as a homgkonger.

My very favourite place for running in Hong Kong, especially in the evening. The path is wide there are toilets and water stations.

Bowen Road This is a favourable walking and joggling trail in the Causeway Bay Mid-level. It is surrounded by prestigious residences and refreshing sceneries . It is 3 Km from Bowen Road park to Junction of Stubbs Road and Tai Hang Road. Open all times, both night and day views are fantastic. Written on 4th Nov., 2020.

One of the the nicest walks overlooking Victoria Harbor. I take a bus from lower Happy Valley and enjoy a mid level walk to Central and back.

This walking trail was up on the hillside in Wan Chai district. There were several entrance or exit to the road where public transportation was available. However, part of the trail was still occupied by cars and lorries for the residents and construction sites. Some parts along the trail was not modified and looked like a few decades ago. The scene was spectacular too. A famous stone with a love story was also situated along the trail. Small waterfalls were also found. Beware that only one public toilet was located midway. Besides, the trail was always filled with runners and joggers.

The Bowen Road Fitness Trail is an easy trail in the Mid-Levels above Wanchai and Happy Valley that is 3km long, nicely paved with a couple interesting things to see along the way. The trail is popular running path for residents. You'll encounter quite a few joggers and an equal number of walkers. Viewpoints are pretty good but not as impressive as what you find on the Lugard Road trail further west above Central district. You'll find a leisure area at the Wanchai Gap Road intersection. There are a handful of shrines along the path. You'll find one of the six historic city of Victoria boundary stones as well as the Lover's Rock, a 9 metre granite monolith which is interesting to take a look at. Overall, the Bowen Trail is sort of poor man's Lugard Road trail from a sightseeing perspective. It is a better fitness trail for those looking for a place to jog or run by comparison.

Starting where Bowen Road begins on Magazine Gap Road, the "trail" winds its way towards the end at Stubbs Road. Totally paved, it is an easy and level walk. There are public toilets and places where you can rest along the way. There are also pieces of exercise equipment and children's play areas. It is extremely popular with walkers and runners. There are views of the city below as you progress from above Admiralty, Wan Chai and Causeway Bay. If you don't live in the area and have to walk up, there are steep walks up from Garden Road, the Peak Tram terminus, Wan Chai and even Happy Valley.

Yelp
Very popular and relatively flat running trail in the middle of the city. You'll see a lot of running groups utilizing this path. Some dog walkers come here too, so you can have some eyecandies. I spotted this gorgeous malamute on the trail, but poor thing being a snow worthy dog in this hot and humid city. One way is about 2.5 miles, their signs say 3 miles so maybe I missed the ending 0.5 miles. That's already a very decent distance without forced stoppage. Lots of trees, lots of spots overlooking central. The beginning part of the trail is shared with cars, but you have the right of way. They do have toilets available middle of the route. You'll also pass by the lover's rock, so you can pray to meet the love of your life on this path.
