On the Grid : Bowlero

"Recently renovated, bowling in Mar Vista is alive and well at Bowlero. Although we do miss Pepe's Galley, Bowlero is truly a bowler's paradise – kind of like the dream sequence The Dude has in The Big Lebowski. Step inside and you'll forget that it's really 1pm and your on your lunch break. The use of neon is an understatement. Bowlero has it all: arcade games, pool tables, TVs, music, great food, full bar, beer helmets, mini kegs, PBR towers, and oh yea bowling!" - Italic Studio

We recently celebrated a 10th birthday party for my son's friend at Lucky Strike bowling alley, and it was an absolutely fabulous experience! From the get-go, the staff were welcoming and ensured our large group was accommodated without any hitches. With ample alleys available, the kids had a great time rolling strikes and spares, with no waiting around for a free lane – a real plus when you have a group of excited ten-year-olds! What truly set Lucky Strike apart was their fast service. The staff were attentive, making sure our needs were met rapidly, from shoe rentals to food and drink orders, helping the party to move smoothly and keeping the kids happy. But the fun didn't stop at bowling. After the kids had their fill of strikes and spares, Lucky Strike had another treat up its sleeve – video game sessions! This was a perfect wind-down activity after the high energy of bowling, and the variety of games available meant that every kid found something that they enjoyed. It's not often you find a place that ticks all the boxes for a successful birthday event – ample space, rapid service, and a variety of entertainment options. Lucky Strike did all this and more, making for a memorable day out that the kids are still talking about. Whether you're planning a birthday party, a family outing, or just a day of fun, Lucky Strike is a strike out of the park. Highly recommend!

Wow, it has been a while since I visited because it's so different and modern now. New technology and better leather seats. I'm very impressed with the cleanliness and the service. We went on a Friday when they first opened at 12pm (Christmas week) and it was busy but not overly crowded. The kids had fun with their bumpers and are asking when they can come back. We didn't utilize their bar but it looked nice. In addition, they have a small arcade area that requires a prepaid card. The games were newer; a lot of prize type games. I wouldn't spend too much time here since each game is expensive and the prize payout is pretty hard. Still a nice addition to the bowling alley and got some usage from us.

The approach was warped, the lanes were too dry, Hardly no oil. The strings on the pins kept getting tangled, the system keeping up with the score was always wrong and the manager from the beginning, even when I was trying to purchase a lane was rude and sarcastic. He said he didn’t believe I had my own shoes and asked for a bag check. I felt a little uncomfortable/ racially profiled being that I was the only one he asked and there were a few others with bags too. I will never come back here. I found no pleasure of being here. Terrible!!

Previous couple of visits, I gave it a 5, love it, great service, staff goes above and beyond, would recommend. My last visit, lanes were so completely dry it was essentially unplayable. So your experience depends on what you're looking for. I go there to get a few games in, and if the lanes are bad, I will not enjoy my experience, no matter how great everything else is

I came here for a birthday party for one of my son’s classmates. The kids enjoyed bowling, the arcade games, and the food. I like the variety of the food: fries, chicken tenders, tacos, and sliders. The staff was attentive. The kids had a blast, and I highly recommend this place if you want to spend 2-3 hours with your kid, throw a birthday party, or spend time with your adult friends! I think bowling is a great way to keep kids off their screens, engage them in fun, a bit competitive game, teach them how to cheer for each other, practice their hand-eye coordination, and learn that it’s ok to “mess up.”

Great experience. Love the music, love vibes on Friday and Saturday nights. I also like the arcade, it’s very futuristic punk. For bowling, It’s $20 each for 1 session or $39 for unlimited. The line moves fast so you don’t have to wait too long. Just know they check ids during their after hours bowling session.

I cannot say enough about Bryan and the staff at hand amazing service all the time. Joely and Tim honestly make things not only fun, but the service is impeccable. I come here a little more than usual because I'm part of the league. Which everyone should join because not only is it fun but it's great exercise. I bought a summer pass which is an unbelievable deal, you get to bowl and your shoes are complementary. You also get a discount off things like food or drinks. I look forward to coming on days when I know that they have a right staff that makes operations not only more efficient, but also gives customers an amazing experience.

Cute spot. Bar food was good. Garlic fries were fantastic. Nachos were basic but good. Strawberry lemonade drink was yummy. Music and staff were great. Pretty expensive but I guess that's the going rate for bowling alleys these days unfortunately

Yelp
Went to the grand opening parry 4/4/2025 Free parking lot, nice arcade modern area, very modern decorated cozy bar and booth dining area. The projector tv wall on the lanes were impressive to see and really makes it upscale. However the tables are way too cramped in and hard to move around and the tv are position right above the bowling balls which is terrible for viewing. It should be much further down so you dont have to crank you neck up as if you are the first row of a movie theatre looking up at the screen. The entire vibe is very modern dark mood lighting - very cute for date night and has a club/bar feel to it. No old vintage or worn out outdated feel. I wouldnt do a big group here but if you, you definitely want to get separate lanes since the tables prevents you to walk easier to bowl up

Yelp
ZERO STARS. We walked in last night (Wednesday 2/26/25, 11pm) and waited at the counter for five minutes while 5-6 employees stood around right in front of us talking and pretending we were invisible. ZERO STARS. There was maybe eight other customers in the entire building at this time. ZERO STARS ............NOT ONE SINGLE EMPLOYEE acknowledged us or greeted is in any way. No eye contact, no "we will be with you in a minute". Nothing. ZERO STARS. Whomever is in charge of this place should be fired. I assume with that many employees in the house (their were maybe nine total employees within our eyesight) that at least one of them was some type of manager. So we were likely even ignored by the location manager. ZERO STARS. So you wanna charge $9.50 per game, per person. Plus $5.99 to rent shoes, which is by far the highest price to bowl a single game that I have ever seen, and you cannot provide even basic customer service? ZERO STARS. Whomever manages this place should be embarrassed. ZERO STARS! I am cross posting this on Yelp, Google and anywhere else I can so that I can warn people to avoid this joke. Bring back Bowlero!

Yelp
Fun bowling experience! Came here on a Thursday night, was able to get a lane but there was league play starting at 8:30. You can always make a reservation. It was $10 a game and $5 for shoe rental. They have various specials but there's unlimited bowling on Sunday and Mondays for $24. Servers and hosts were great, bowling alley was quality and overall a great time! Will return.

Yelp
Stopped by on Thursday, 06/19/25 for the first time with coworkers celebrating work. This is a great place to not only bowl but also have drinks! Amazing bar with amazing drink selections.

Yelp
Came here for a birthday party, all the staff were very friendly. Loved the bowling along with the arcade. It was a good time here and I look forward to getting the membership to bring my kid more often.

Yelp
This bowling alley is an old bowlero. Very busy on a Friday night overall! Sodas are $6 which is kinda pricey but some of the beers are $10 on tap. Pizza was good but a little salty. Chicken skewered and tenders were both flavorful! Service is mostly good here, hit or miss at the checkout counter. PRO TIP: check out Groupon for cheaper prices

Yelp
I bowl at this location weekly. I absolutely love the friendly staff at this location. I want to specifically name Miguel, Javier and Melvin. They always welcome me, take care of me and make me feel like family. I have been to numerous bowling alleys over the years and I have never received this high quality of customer service. These three gentlemen are a great asset to the establishment. I truly appreciate their genuine hospitality. Thank you team.

Yelp
Waited over an hour to have these fools reject a valid Groupon. Asked for manager... Manager scared to deal with the situation so he did not come out from the back. Overpriced and overrated. Food sucks too! ZERO STARS!

Yelp
15 of us from my church had an amazing night of bowling here. The pizza, wings & drinks were excellent and I want to give a shout out to Javier, Miguel, and Marlene for taking care of us so well that night! Also thanks to Madison for helping us get everything organize. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
My review is more of a 2.5 stars... It's a bowling alley - nothing special. It was average before Lucky Strike took over, and I was looking forward to some improvements...... but, no. First, they just replaced the little tables at each pair of alleys. Literally *just*, since the old tables were stacked in a parking spot outside. Not well thought out... the tables are shin-height. They threw out the oval (surf-board motif) tables they used to have and replaced then with rectangle tables - they wanted their logo on it. But shin-height tables with right angles don't fit at well in that small space, so it looks like sh**t, and on top of that, people will be knocking their shins into the corners. If they're smart, temporarily recover the oval tables from their parking lot, and send the rectangular ones back to oval-out one end of each. Secondly, they replaced all of their bowling balls. I don't know what kind of damage or wear the average bowling ball sustains, but I had never noticed anything wrong with their previous balls. But if they're *going* to replace them - ALL of them - at least improve the situation by having 6# and 8# balls with larger holes for those of us adults who don't bowl heavy. ALL of the 6# balls are XS / S holes, and all of the 8# balls only go up to S / M. Did they think they were benefitting anyone by having fewer balls drilled to pairs of sizes? Did they need new balls so badly that they went and made a pretty stupid oversight for their adult population? I saw a few other people along with me scavenging around empty lanes looking for more options, and we all noticed and remarked on the same shortfall. So much for the "upgrade"! For something that's supposed to be a 'new ownership' upgrade, these look like newbie mistakes. I got the summer season pass, and I won't be doing any additional spending other than just using my daily pair of strings.

Yelp
First time for everything. Went here to do inside activity since it was raining. Check in went smoothly. In the midst of bowling we realize that the pins are on wires. This was new to us. This method doesn't really allow the pins to hit others down. We paid for 2 games and just finished them out. The place was clean, tvs were playing different shows. They only go up to a size 14 bowling ball.

Yelp
Great place to have a party or event. The food was okay and plenty of drinks package. The meat for the tacos seems a bit dry but very tasty. We all had fun and the team working with us was great.

Yelp
So disappointed the pop-a-shot is gone! It's replaced by some extremely lame basketball Connect-Four. It'll take too long to explain all the reasons it sucks. Bring back the pop a shot, it's the primary reason we all come to bowl here, to end in a pop-a-shot competition.

Yelp
Paid for 2 games and said we could only play until 10. We played 1 game and they refused to refund us the second game despite us only having time for the 1 game. Gave us game passes instead of refund. Blamed the district manager for lack of refund. Video evidence.

Yelp
Had an amazing time at this location, it was incredibly busy though managed to get a lane quick. The servers were busy so Josue the event host that was attending the party next to me helped me with my food order, he was incredibly helpful & attentive, he even taught my kid how to bowl safely & score some strikes! Amazing overall service & really nice of him to step up & help understandably because my server was busy because of how full it was. 10/10 I look forward to going back again maybe as a party & hope I get him as my host haha.

Yelp
Just horribly managed and terrible customer service. Got completely inaccurate pricing info when I called them. Then showed up two hrs later and a guy with a rude attitude gave me completely different info. None of their food kiosks work at the lane so you're constantly having to flag ppl down who tell you they will "send a server" who never comes. For the level of price gouging happening I expected incredible service. If you want to have crappy service then I'd be more than happy to pay low prices

Yelp
We just had my daughter's birthday here. Everything was well organized and executed. Super friendly staff and the kids and adults all really enjoyed themselves. we will definitely be back with our family!

Yelp
hahahahah $61 a person to bowl on the weekends and $36 a person to bowl on a monday or tuesday or something. I'm good. thanks for ruining bowling
