Here to celebrate Christmas 2024.
Seating is a small and the place was packed.
The atmosphere is unique and very Japanese.
Tried a variety of food here. The bara chiraishi is good. The sashimi and maki are great too. The buta buns were served hot and I enjoyed the herbal like taste.
I would skip the skewers if I return though. Didn’t really get the freshly chargrilled taste I was hoping for. The tiramisu is also a miss as it was very watery.
Overall, spent $201 for the table of food for 5 people.
Service is alright.
Would return for the dons and maki.

Came here on a Sunday evening for dinner, and food came rather quickly. Price point wise is pretty affordable contrary to other izakayas.
💧 Water is no complimentary.
The skewers came pretty quickly too and we would recommend the mentaiko chicken skewers.
Also ordered a good variety of pastas and the soft shell chilli crab donburi. Portion size was just right for an average eater. Ambience is rather quiet, but I like that 1 small pint was $5.80++ and makes a good gathering spot for dinner.

I love that it is quiet and we do get full attention. The food is amazing (Asari clams, Grilled beef with pineapple, stingray fin , soup, rice etc)
I will definitely come again as this is by far the best clams i have eaten in any izakaya

Overall atmosphere is chill and food served is delicious.
The stingray fins and sake clam goes well with beer. The teriyaki corn skewer was one of my favourite too.
* Feedback: The pork skewer is slightly tough but altogether the meal was good.

Place was packed but the staff seated us at a reserved table. Later they moved us to another table when it’s available.
The staff are super attentive and fast. And there’s only 3 waitresses at dinner service.
The food was good too. I personally prefer the regular pork than the black pork because it’s more tender (and cheaper).
I highly recommend the ETHIRE YАКI (Grilled stingray fin). It goes super well with a drink.

Chance upon this place and absolutely love this little izakaya. Food selection was great and taste was above par! Beer and sake prices were reasonable too!! Will definitely be back here again soon!

Came here on an impromptu and unplanned visit. Have always walked by this outlet and thought the decor and layout was really interesting but didn’t step in. Tried the lunch set eventually. It’s Japanese and Chinese fusion. Prices ranges from $10-$20, with more than 20 options available to select from. Comes with sides and drinks too. Dishes were fresh and meats were decent, tender. Portion was just okay for a lunch meal. Staff and preparation was really efficient. Loved the ambience too, transports you back into a traditional Japanese hut with Chinese elements too. Will be back to try the other sets sometime!

Box n Sticks is honestly one of the most understated Japanese hunts in Singapore that I find myself returning to time and time again for its consistency & delicious food. It is good for hosting groups and the food always hits the spot. Loved the festive set which was extensive with sides and mains and even the desserts. The stand outs are definitely their fusion pastas, and rice bowls! The soft shell crab roll is also so delicious. All the flavours lean towards the stronger side, but they were all crowd pleasers. Cant wait to be back again!
