Absolutely recommendable! This was by far the best sushi I’ve ever had – fresh, creative, and perfectly prepared. The salmon and beef were also real highlights! The place is charmingly decorated and has a wonderfully cozy atmosphere. You can really tell that a lot of heart goes into everything here. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Chance upon this place and absolutely love this little izakaya. Ordered the Kushi platter and salmon sashimi and paired with a jug of sapporo beer. The chef and servers were friendly. Sashimi were thick and fresh. .. the grills were BBQ to perfection. Highly recommend.

Here to celebrate Christmas 2024. Seating is a small and the place was packed. The atmosphere is unique and very Japanese. Tried a variety of food here. The bara chiraishi is good. The sashimi and maki are great too. The buta buns were served hot and I enjoyed the herbal like taste. I would skip the skewers if I return though. Didn’t really get the freshly chargrilled taste I was hoping for. The tiramisu is also a miss as it was very watery. Overall, spent $201 for the table of food for 5 people. Service is alright. Would return for the dons and maki.

Came with friends for an early weekend dinner, not much of a crowd. Quaint little shop tucked away from the crowd. Unfortunately, the food was very average for the price. The grilled sticks can be skipped in our opinion, nothing special for the price. The beef rice bowl however was decent though a bit on the saltier side with an overpowering black pepper taste (works if you like black pepper).

Was expecting to be like last time food serving in a box when they first started. First time to dine-in at this location ever since they shifted to many years ago. Grilled food were so-so only. Only the beer was good 😷

Overall atmosphere is chill and food served is delicious. The stingray fins and sake clam goes well with beer. The teriyaki corn skewer was one of my favourite too. * Feedback: The pork skewer is slightly tough but altogether the meal was good.

There was some confusion about the seating for walk-ins vs reservations that we couldn’t solve but we were happy to get a seat. The food is good - I think better hot food than sushi. It’s pricey for the portion size but would nevertheless recommend the omelette with salmon roe.

our dinner at box n sticks near haji lane was so cute !! the food was tasty and presented very well. i had the spicy aburi maki <3 my only qualm was the price - as the food, although totally good, was not by any means mind-blowing... which made a $25+ meal in an area where much cheaper options are available sort of unserious. at the same time, it is sushi and i understand that fresh fish demands a price tag, so it would be futile to complain. TLDR is that i would recommend but i would not rush to return.

Yelp
I'm obsessed with this place! The service was great as they got my food out super quick and gave solid recommendations. They even charged my phone for me If you want a quick and casual place to eat some Japanese food, I would recommend this somewhat fusion restaurant. I got the sake/salmon nigiri, the bacon mushroom skewer, and the aglio e olio pasta with clams. They were all delicious for a good price as well.

Yelp
Imagine going to an event full of expectations and get sorely disappointed due to bad organization and lousy programming. That was what I was going through before Box n Sticks saved my night. Was in the area for the opening of one of the spaces and the experience was nothing short of 'cannot-make-it'. After desperately searching for somewhere to just chill and found Box n Sticks, my friend and I couldn't be happier! The promo of $5 for a bottle of Asahi beer (just gotta like their FB page and be a fan!), it was a life saver. Not really hungry but just tired from our search, we ordered a few skewers. As the name suggests, the menu selection is mainly bentos and skewers. The food was a relief from the toil we had gone through but it wasn't all that great. The meatball with raw egg dish was interesting as a concept but it could taste better. The gizzard was slightly dry but yea, manageable. What made the experience interesting were the quirky wall graffitis and I guess it does make a difference. They have a different FB fan promo each day so do check their FB page for more info.

Yelp
The spot is located within a row of shophouses which offers a variety of eating joints and has a charming wall painted with pictures stylistically Japanese to the T - cutouts of a Geisha. That is about it for its decor but It is lovely minimalism that I'm quite a sucker for. Because we know people love promotions, we'll let word out that Box n Sticks offers a good selection of lunch sets which includes a starter, a main and a drink. We decided to get two lunch sets to share. For starters, we had the Wafu Salad and the Cold Tofu. Safe, good and system cleansing start to the meal. With food selection like this which is both delicious and healthy, it is little wonder how Japanese women can stay so slim. For mains, M had Grilled Teriyaki Chicken with Onigiri. We heard that the Buta Kakuni (Braised Pork Belly) with Onigiri is really popular too! I picked the Salmon Mentaiko Carbonara on the recommendation of the lovely Waitress cum Co-Owner. For the uninformed, Metaiko is the roe of Pollock Fish. It sounds gross but Mentaiko is the holy grail of Japanese food indulgence and is used on many dishes or even eaten simply with rice. Naturally, pairing it with the creamy sauce of French food indulgence made one satisfied diner. I've been back and have introduced this joint to a number of friends and they've all turned fans.

Yelp
I stumbled upon this place while walking the neighborhood looking for something savory to eat before diving into a miso donut covered in soft serve at Brother Bird nearby. The location is great as the surrounding area is predominantly Turkish, Lebanese and other similar foods. I had a wakame salad and salmon sashimi, which was the perfect light dinner to ensure I had enough room for my dessert. Despite the lightness, it was a surprisingly good amount of food, especially given the price. The service was fast and my ice green tea was refilled numerous times. At one point, I was asked to check in on FB or instagram in order to get free ice cream. I explained that I'd love to but couldn't as I didn't have 3g and there was no wifi. Lo and behold, after I had finished my meal, I got served a bowl of black sesame ice cream anyway. Now that's customer service! I loved it here and would absolutely go back, especially since they have lots of promos and reasonably priced food and drinks compared to most of what you'll find in Singapore.

Yelp
A causal japanese eatery at the most unexpected location. The price is rather reasonable and the food they serve are delicious. There are some interesting creations too. One of my favorite items here is Buta Kakuni (Braised Pork) with Onigri (Rice ball). Oh yes, the service is pretty good and the best part is this place do not charge GST and Service. Good for late night eats too.

Yelp
Mediocre at best. The tsukune (chicken meatball) needs to go. The chicken karaage was ok. Salad was the best thing we had. Really wished this place was better given how close it is to our house and Arab street.
