We tried Box Street for brunch and had a mixed—but overall positive—experience.
I ordered the chilaquiles, which were very good and very generous in portion size. My only wish is that they had a little more heat, the salsa tasted more like mashed tomatillos than a spicy kick. Still, filling and satisfying.
My husband ordered the avocado toast, which unfortunately was a bit disappointing. The avocado was lightly spread and didn’t taste very fresh. It came with two sausage patties that were reminiscent of Jimmy Dean frozen sausage, not quite what you expect at a place like this.
Coffee-wise, my decaf was excellent: hot, fresh, with creamer on the side and plenty of sugar options. My husband’s latte came out cold (very cold), but to their credit, when he politely asked for a remake, the server was incredibly friendly and quickly brought a new one that was perfect.
Where Box Street really shines is the atmosphere. It’s chic, stylish, and very aesthetic, perfect for a girls’ brunch or a casual but elevated meetup.
Overall: 3 stars for the food, 5 stars for service and ambiance, averaging out to a solid 4 stars. Would come back for the vibe and coffee, and hopeful the food continues to improve.
