I really wasn’t impressed. We had a Philly cheesesteak and a chicken salad sandwich. Neither were very good. I wish I didn’t eat here. VERY OVERRATED compared to reviews. I think people were just so hungry waiting in line. Just wasn’t all that.

Google
Boyd and Wurthmann Restaurant is an Amish restaurant serving mouth watering food. There is a perpetual line which goes outside the restaurant. It is definitely worth the wait. The inside of the restaurant is not large but the waitresses keep everything moving quickly but not rushed. We had a variety of items (see pictures) and everything was delicious. Ruby, our waitress, was efficient and helpful. I'm sure we will be visiting every time we are in the area.

We tried breakfast and lunch on different days. For breakfast, you have to try the sausage gravy! I had mine over a biscuit, my husband had his over hash browns and we both cleaned our plates. I also had a side of bacon which was absolutely delicious. For lunch, my husband had the open faced roast beef and I had the Boyd's Burger. He ate his roast beef so quickly, I didn't get to try it but I did manage to dip one of my fries in the gravy and found it delectable. The Boyd's Burger was very good. Everything was served hot and freshly cooked.

Been here many times and had a variety of dishes, all of which I would recommend. Amish home cooking to warm your belly. Daily specials, but bring cash or your checkbook. There is an ATM with fee if you leave your cash at home. Usually a wait during warmer months, but worth it.

Google
It's worth the wait! We came during the lunch rush. Several people were talking about how good their blueberry pie was. I couldn't wait to try it & I'm so glad I did! It was delicious. Our waitress was awesome, too!

Google
An absolute must to complete your tour of Amish Country. Lines and wait time can be a little long depending on the day and hour, so be prepared for a wait time. Authentic Amish food and desserts made by real Amish people. Atmosphere reminds you of simple times, and your more then likely to see many Amish dinning in there. Bring cash, no card accepted.

Every time we are in Amish Country, we typically eat breakfast at Boyd’s. This time we enjoyed a dinner. Service was great and food was delicious. Fresh and homemade. Restaurant is small, but the hometown atmosphere makes it special.

Isabela Maniero

Google
The food is good but nothing special. It was very busy and way too loud. The waitress was amazing and that's why I gave her 4 stars.

Dave D.

Yelp
Service was excellent, the staff was friendly, the place was neat and clean, and the food was mostly great. Seems like an authentic Amish experience here and what's best is that we saw all kinds of other Amish patrons eating there so you know it's good! All of our meals were excellent except the fried bologna sandwich. I would stay away from that. You could hardly see the meat between the bun. Pro Tips: Get there early, the line forms out the door quickly. Also, bring cash so you don't have to pay the ATM fee.

Yelp
The charm is strong, the service is great, and the food is fine. The only issue is that B&W is a victim of its own hype - which I don't think it lived up to. Counter to my intuition, the parts that met/exceeded expectations were the side salad and the bread. The salad was taken up a notch by the homemade ranch that accompanied it. The thick homemade bread was good on its own, but a few squirts of the table side peanut butter spread and apple jam is a must-do! Beyond that, the Roast Beef was good but the "Noodles Over Mashed Potatoes" didn't do it for me. Both were listed as "Boyd's favorites" and get high marks from the masses. I wasn't as impressed. The Butterscotch pie was a good call, but I would pass on the Black Raspberry Pie if I had a do-over. I wish the "double crust" dessert actually had more crust because its ratio to the black raspberry filling was ludicrously low. On the bright side, I took the excess filling to go, so it will survive in the afterlife - apropos for the location.

Yelp
100%. One of our all time favorites. You're missing out if you don't go here. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. On the way out don't forget to grab fresh bread and PB spread.

Isaiah G.

Yelp
We were in the area and everyone recommended this restaurant. It's older but you definitely get the Amish feel. They bring you bread and 2 sauces. The peanut butter was amazing. My son ordered the chicken sandwich, I ordered pot roast, and my husband ordered fried chicken. First you can tell everything is made there. The mayonnaise was nice and yellow it was delicious. The side of corn was real corn my kids ate most of mine. The roast beef was delicious. The fried chicken was nice and crispy. Service was perfect. This is definitely a must stop if you're in the area.

Nobuko Y.

Yelp
I miss Boyd & Wurthmann. Visiting here was one of my favorite things to do in Ohio. I miss their Amish cuisines.

Chelsea R.

Yelp
Editing because I realized that I just paid $75 for my kids to eat a frozen hamburger patty and 2 reheated frozen chicken tenders and cottage cheese, in addition to my terrible meal 2 stars MAX. I came here when I was in town a couple of years ago for breakfast and when I found myself here again today, I decided to grab a late lunch. I ordered the smothered chicken and a sweet tea- which it turns out is from a fountain and tastes like chlorine. I asked to have it replaced with an orange soda and the server kindly brought me a Pepsi instead, along with the heel of some homemade bread. Lol The chicken was cold and dry, with a nondescript honey mustard flavor, and the green beans taste like they were rolled in vegetable oil and not seasoned at all. Truly the worst meal I've ever had in this area. I actually left the restaurant hungry. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because breakfast is actually good here.

Sarah I.

Yelp
Dang! Now I know why there is always a line. This is the most reasonable place to eat ever!! We had one of the specials, a cheeseburger and peanut butter pie. Everything was fresh and delicious and the service was great. It is just a simple diner feel, nothing fancy. I will definitely come back when we are visiting amish country!

Lynn C.

Yelp
We were in the area for an event and needed to find a comfort food lunch spot and this place was always too crowded or closed any other visits to the area. We lucked out there was no line and sat right down, however still very busy inside we did sit there for awhile before greeted and even longer until we got our drinks. It is a popular spot by visitors and locals. The bread was warm and fresh and the peanut butter spread on the table was delicious (I regret not buying some). My daughter and I ordered the chicken dinners and my mom got hot roast beef sandwich. The portions were large. My mom and daughter thought the chicken didn't taste like chicken though. I was overwhelmed with dessert choices and did not get to try one but all looked amazing. My mom and daughter shared the special white chocolate pumpkin cheesecake. The downfall was we did not realize it was cash only until halfway through the meal and did not anticipate the meal being a $70 lunch.

Yelp
Every time we head east on route 62 through Berlin, and every time we head west on route 62 through Berlin, OH, we stop at Bing and Worthmann's. The first time was years ago when bringing a freshman at Ohio U. for orientation from Connecticut, the most recent was driving from Canfield, OH, to Cincinnati, now that we live Ohio. This is our 8th time. B & W is undoubtedly one of the best restaurants we have ever found, whether it be in North America, or in Europe. Like the Army, my wife and I travel on our stomachs! This is a truly great find, but BRING CASH, no Credit Cards!!! We usually charge every meal, but this place is definitely worth bringing cash. It is always packed, so apparently a lot of people feel the same way I do. I enjoy finding new places, but when heading through Holmes County I think there are enough options on their menu to make B & W, a very interesting place. Everything is wonderful, but SAVE ROOM for dessert (chocolate cheesecake with strawberries was AMAZING - I would have never thought that combination would be good, but it was out of this world). The Patty Melt sandwich today was spectacular too!

Tim M.

Yelp
great food! Had roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. lot of great food

SA M.

Yelp
We were in the area for a week for a week, visiting several past favorites. We asked & were permitted to check available choices & buffets & just left in disappointment. Not what we used to find. We would have paid more for better selections. Sad. It must be the Bidenomics. We did better just getting sandwiches at Market delis

Beth R.

Yelp
Great hometown restaurant. Make- your-own omelet great with cup of gravy-- my husband's favorite! Coffee only 99 cents. Friendly staff and great service.

Ed F.

Yelp
We decided it was time to get some food in us so we stopped by about 2:30 on a Saturday and there was line out the door and down the ramp. They had signs in the window at three locations on what the wait would be from that point. We started at the 20-25 minute mark. Which was pretty accurate! We were seated right about the 20 minute mark. Typical small town diner with swiveling bar stools at low 10 foot counter and numerous booths and tables for four or six. We finally got a booth for two and our friendly waitress, Olivia, got us going with our drink orders and pointed out the daily specials. My wife selected the roast turkey with mashed potatoes and dressing. Up until then I was looking at the sandwich menu but the thought of turkey made me switch gears. They plates came out piping hot and surprise the roast turkey was shredded not sliced but it was moist and delicious! The white turkey gravy on the potatoes and dressing was tasty. The wife could not finish hers and got a to go box to which I added about half of the turkey from my plate to it. Can you say large servings? Yes! Good thing we stopped early! We both opted to get dessert and the wife got blackberry cobbler with ice cream. I got the Black Raspberry Pie with ice cream! Olivia asked if we wanted them heated and we said yes. Oh so good! Our server was very attentive and kept our sweet teas filled and answered all our questions sweetly and a with a continuous smile! I'd love to go back to try other menu choices.

Yelp
100% this is where you need to go! You'll thank me later!!! Hot roast beef sandwich w mashed potatoes and gravy were absolutely divine!!!!!! Noodles over mashed potatoes (tastes like Lipton's chicken noodle soup was yummy, my friends devoured it but is not my normal style). The sweetest employees ever!!! Super helpful and they really take care of you! Cash or check only!

Farmstead F.

Yelp
This restaurant has like home cooked meals, love the chicken noodle soup and the broasted chicken dinner, very good atmosphere!

Yelp
I love the vibe and scenery of Berlin and surrounding areas. We've been coming down here for 10+ years now and never had heard of the place until recently. Went today and had lunch. The line was already out the door by 11:10 am. The place isn't overly big so it's usually crowded most days. The food is what you would expect from a place down here. Which to me is great. The service was good too. Seemed like everyone knew one another here. Felt like an old timey diner from 50+ years ago. The only negative is Friday and Saturday in Berlin are crowded and it's hard to find parking behind the building. Otherwise, A+. Definitely going back.

Dave P.

Yelp
Love this place. In the middle of Berlin's shopping district, they serve plain comfort food at a reasonable price. My favorite is the roast beef. Slow cooked , juicy and not too fatty. Just simply heavenly. The breasted chicken is also very good. The usually have 15-20 pies available for dessert or take out. Service is good and meals gone out quickly even when they are busy.

G K.

Yelp
In the area having service work done to my trailer. B&W was busy when we drove by in the past. A good sign. It was busy when we arrived. Everybody seemed to be local. Restaurant was very clean. Staff was friendly. Food was excellent. I will be back. Looking forward to returning

Mark W.

Yelp
We were in Berlin doing some shopping and noticed the crowd waiting outside B & W on this perfect fall afternoon. We had worked up a little appetite and decided to try B & W. We asked some folks sitting outside if they served pie inside and we were told that they had the best homemade pies around. We found out no truer words were spoken there must have 18 pies and cobblers on their menu. We selected coconut cream, pumpkin and blackberry cobbler. Wow each one was delicious and packed with fresh flavor. They serve a good cup of coffee and our waitress was always around keeping our cups full. I like the feel and look of the diner. You feel like you are stepping back in time when people cared about you through their food, their service and just a very welcoming atmosphere. I would not hesitate to go back for a full meal and I am confident I would enjoy every part of it.

Sara I.

Yelp
I ordered the roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes, my husband the patty melt. Just what you'd expect from some home style cooking! Fantastic apple crisp, easy to share! Get there early, but their is always a line.

Pat B.

Yelp
Very disappointed. After reading reviews and seeing long lines waiting we had high expectations. We were disappointed. We got there early before 11 and waited 20 minutes. I ordered a vegetable plate. Dressing had potatoes in it and not much seasoning. Green beans fair. Slaw very runny. Bread was good. Not worth the wait and money for us.

K M.

Yelp
Pretty good food for a reasonable price Fried chicken was nothing special. Two small thighs and a very small leg. Noodles were nice. Gravy on mashed potatoes was weird , congealed and not tasty. Fried fish was ok Pie fillings were very nice but crust was not tasty. We were expecting a handmade crust. Would go back but would not wait in line again.

L H.

Yelp
Ate at this restaurant based on reviews. The wait was about 15 minutes. The service was excellent, but the food was average at best. We had fried fish, meatloaf, and grilled marinated chicken. The pie was fair; not what my mom makes!

Betty C.

Yelp
Great service and food! Try the brown bag apple pie! Yumm! There was a line to get in.

Dan H.

Yelp
We stopped here on a recent trip to Berlin, and I have to say, we liked it enough that we ate their again a few days later. I had the chicken dinner with mashed potatoes and salad the first time, and I have to say it was some of the tastiest chicken I've ever had! I think they shallow fry their chicken and it comes out juicy and moist, a little bit of salt in the breading really sets it off, and it was soooo tender. The potatoes were great too! We finished up with homemade black raspberry pies ala mode, which was absolutely delicious! The crust was flaky, the berries a bit tart and sweet, and the ice cream was nice and creamy! Perfect! The bread they serve with dinner is delicious too! Their were six of us eating and like I said, everyone loved it, so we stopped by again before we left town, and we even bought desserts the second time to take with us. Check it out!

Lynne M.

Yelp
This is an old diner experience kind of establishment with the nicest employees and delicious food. You must leave room at the end for pie aka mode

Tyler R.

Yelp
Smaller diner overall. But HOW DO I RATE HIGHER THAN 5 STARS! This place is absolutely killer when it comes to the food. Waitresses were busy but tentative. Biggest downfall would be they only accept cash.

Debbie P.

Yelp
Very disappointed. They were out of alot of menu items by 7pm. Food that was available was mediocre at best.

Kevin C.

Yelp
Who loves Amish-style home-cooked food? Boyd & Wurthmann is located in the heart of Berlin, Ohio. There are lots of great places to eat, and this is definitely one that you shouldn't miss! They open at 5:30 am for breakfast and stay open until 3:30 or 7:30 pm, depending on the day. There is always a line out the door waiting to get a table. If you don't see a line, they are probably closed! The restaurant started in 1950, and the original green countertop is still there after all these years. You can see it in my picture! Remember to bring cash as that is all they accept. The food is excellent, and you won't leave hungry. Order: Hot Roast Beef Sandwich with mashed potatoes & smothered in beef gravy.

Wayne S.

Yelp
Stopped for lunch, thought I'd try them. Waitress recommended the special board and this was #1 Definitely be back with the wife

Valerie C.

Yelp
Classic Amish foods. Cash only. But I wouldn't miss it! You need your fingers and toes to count up all the pie options, and you still won't count them all! I highly recommend this place for the extreme comfort foods. They are also open early for breakfast, and I've never tried it so I really want to go back soon!

Dan K.

Yelp
Did I just time travel back to the 1950's??!! And that's a compliment of the highest order. Awesome service, non-stop coffee, superb diner food with considerable portions, well-priced, and an unbeatable local crowd vibe. If you're a food snob critic, this place isn't for you - go to Cleveland, Columbus, or Cincinnati and write about some high-brow foodie establishment. This is real food, real people, and real good!!

Pam M.

Yelp
Great for breakfast but not dinner. Had the prime rib special... ordered it medium rare... it came well done and dry... they gave me a second piece but that was the same. They didn't offer to adjust my bill my husband's ribs were OK But the meal wasn't worth over $60 that we paid.

Christopher S.

Yelp
Great food! Great service! Probably the best food in town. Do not let the line discourage you the food is worth the wait.

Daniel O.

Yelp
Excellent "home style" meals, in the heart of Amish Country's own, Berlin OH. Service was great and so was the food. This place comes recommend by many local businesses and people as "the place the locals go to" and it sure seemed that way when we went. Menu is lengthy and very affordable, Fried Flounder dinner with Mashed Potatoes and Cole Slaw was delicious and only $14.99! We tried the onion petals and some chili as our starters. The bread was home made, delicious and warm... so much better than I thought it would be! And the Pies... oh my! I will actually go by there again tomorrow, just for 2 more pieces of pie! We tried their "Bag of Apples Pie" and one of the seasonal specials "Vanilla Crumble Pie" and we both thought this was probably the best piece of pie we've EVER had! This place is a wonderful stop when in the area, it has that "local mom & pop diner" feel, and jt gives you a warm, welcoming vibe! Awesome country cooking and service!

Fact C.

Yelp
Simply the best in town This is where all the local Amish eat for good reason. Great food at affordable prices. I always plan my stay so that I'm within walking distance from this restaurant!

Colin W.

Yelp
A friend of ours recommended this place and mentioned a wait. When we arrived w head to wait about 20 minutes and it was worth the wait. I had the roast beef with mashed potatoes and gravy. One thing to remember is THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH, no credit or debit cards. Well worth a visit.

Karen D.

Yelp
Boyd & Wurthmann is the restaurant in the heart of Holmes Amish County in Ohio. As others have stated they are cash only and expect to wait in line. We were here for breakfast on a family trip, everyone enjoyed their eggs, I went with the breakfast wrap special, but should have had an omelette instead. The wrap fell apart and was nothing special. They started switching over to lunch while we were there and there was a meatloaf special, which looked good and they have a variety of homemade desserts, but we were too stuffed from our meal for dessert.

Bob Y.

Yelp
Consistently meals, service and deserts. Definitely one of my favorites. I highly recommend.

Bob T.

Yelp
Always stop here when we are in town, Great service and food! It's gotten to be very popular over the years & standing in line is now the norm, worth the wait.

Billy L.

Yelp
We were walking through town and happened upon this place so we got in line. By the time we were seated I had read all the great reviews for Boyd & Wurthmann's. It didn't disappoint us! Next to the ketchup and mustard were two odd looking squeeze bottles so I asked the waitress what they were. She said they were home made peanut butter and apple butter and that she would be bringing us some bread shortly. So the bread was amazing and so soft I couldn't believe it. The peanut butter and apple butter were so delicious we bought some jars to go for $4.99. I got the flounder dinner and it came with three pieces of fish and choice of two sides although it was listed on the specials board with mashed potatoes and gravy and coleslaw, you could actually pick whatever two sides you wanted. My friend had a 1/2 order of a hot roast beef with gravy sandwich. It came with mashed potatoes also. We both enjoyed our meals and it was so much food, we were full for hours!!!

Suellen A.

Yelp
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Fun ambiance. There was a line but the place is bigger than it looks and the line moves fast.

Frank L.

Yelp
Go-to for breakfast and dinner. Local food and atmosphere! Best pie selection in the area! Be prepared to wait in line outside.

Richard B.

Yelp
Got the flounder with mashed potatoes & gravy. Basically institutional type food. I ordered and the food was on the table in two minutes. Deep fried big box fish. Potatoes tasted fake. Gravy probably from an institutional food warehouse. Coleslaw was ok.

Rhonda W.

Yelp
I brought my mom to amish Country... we asked several locals where the best amish meal would be ...Every one said here. We were in millersburg and couldn't find Any amish restaurants. This is the real deal. This was our first time here but if you want homecookin or amish i would recommend this over the buffets!!! Its no secret this is delish so expect it to be crowded.. and a bit of a wait. Might get a menu so you can decide while u wait. The pies selection is huge and they all are out of this world delish. They give you a large serving of pie ... none went to waste :) We were forewarned by a local to order your pie at the same time or the flavor you want may be sold out. Everything is made fresh .. the complimentary bread they bring is sooo good. Hot fresh bread yummm. I got one of the soups... the chicken noodle. I hate egg noodles .. Fresh noodles are so much better. Flavor of the soup ... well my mouth is watering as i write this. I will just leave it at that. The girl that seated us was very sweet and polite. Our waitress ... seemed rushed and was very abrupt. When we needed a minute to look at the menu she seemed very aggravated & just barked something as she turned and rushed off. She seemed very stressed and on verge of being rude. I had a couple questions but she didnt give me time to even ask. Once ordered she gave great service and was more friendly. The place was packed .. it was lunchtime Saturday. Once was decided... then she was busy elsewhere but we are on vacation. Dont be in a rush .. people watch and relax. Some amish families were there and was interesting to us to get a glimpse at how they interact. The children were so cute and well behaved.

Gary B.

Yelp
This Berlin restaurant was recommended by our hotel's staff as a good place to eat during our visit. We ate there on supper our first evening in Berlin and I enjoyed their open face roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. A slice of hot black raspberry pie with ice cream made it a perfect meal. Rather than eating a continental breakfast at our hotel before heading back home on our last morning, we returned to Boyd & Wurthmann for breakfast. It was fairly crowded, which is always a good sign. Our waitress was very personable and charming. She wouldn't recommend the ham because she didn't know what I liked but that simply enticed me to give it a try. Both my wife and I enjoyed the ham and scrambled eggs very much. It was the perfect end to our annual anniversary trip to Amish country. The attractive blonde waitress made me wish that I could dine there more often.

JC G.

Yelp
The food is really good! When you are in Berlin you really should stop here and eat. It's by far the best Amish restaurant in town. Seriously!!! I'd eat there 3 meals a day if I could.

Tyler R.

Yelp
Imo I think the food is very bland I don't understand the hype the best thing is the pies

Lorenzo V.

Yelp
This restaurant is a must see. The food is down to earth good American food. The line is long, but is to be expected. The apple butter and peanut butter are so good. That alone warrants a 5 star. The food is icing on the cake. This is diner food at its peak. The staff is friendly and kind. Even though they serve a large crowd, the food doesn't suffer
