Boyotei serves one of the best Japanese curries I’ve ever tasted! The rich, flavorful curry sauce is perfectly balanced, with just the right hint of spices to warm you up, especially in the colder months. The portions are generous, and the quality of the ingredients really shines through. Their signature dish with Hokkaido beef is a must-try—so tender and flavorful, it melts in your mouth. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make the dining experience even better. If you’re visiting the area and looking for authentic Japanese comfort food, this place is a gem. Highly recommended!

Their onion soup is a must try dish, especially the winter version. Most visitors recommend hamburg steak but I do prefer their steak on iron plate very tender and juicy. The steak set comes with rice and salad.

Don't look for Boyotei. It's stuck to the side of the building. Instead, look for the sign coffee restaurant. They have details signs in the front to take queue if it's busy. Good thing when we were there, there was no queue. The lady warned us of the long serving time due to home cook food, about 30mins to 45mins, but it wasn't so long in our experience. Still, good for them to warn in advance. Food was authentic japanese western meals. The hamburger meat and the pork chop was awesome. The sauce made all the difference. Loved the fried scallops too! Everything was just nice and my kids enjoyed it too. Perfect pitstop for lunch.

We stumbled upon Boyotei while searching for dinner in this quiet town, where most restaurants close early. Thankfully, Boyotei stays open until 8:30 PM, and what a delightful find it turned out to be! The exterior is beautifully adorned with charming lighting, setting a welcoming atmosphere. Inside, the décor is unique and cozy, styled like an old-century knight’s beer bar—a characterful touch that makes the experience even more memorable. The service was exceptional. The staff were warm, friendly, and attentive, letting us know that food would take 20-30 minutes to prepare as everything is made fresh to order. And the wait was absolutely worth it! I had the scallop and mushroom spaghetti, served sizzling on a hotplate. The slight charring from the hotplate added a smoky depth to the flavors, elevating the dish to another level—truly amazing! My friend ordered the hamburger patty with rice, which was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and tender. It practically melted in your mouth, and the accompanying sauce complemented the flavors beautifully. If you’re in Toya, this café is a must-try. Delicious food, warm service, and a cozy atmosphere—it checks all the boxes for a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommended!

We had such an outstanding evening. The service was extraordinary and so professional, polished and comforting. It was so hard to leave. The atmosphere and food were beyond description. We were so sorry we could only dine here once and will be back the next time we’re in the area. Thanks so much. If you read this you were all truly sensational! Thanks for all you do!

Google
Not much restaurant to choose in the area and I shall say this is the best restaurant in town. Fair price and food were ok. Old Japanese restaurant design with comfortable dinning atmosphere. They got a beauty garden at the entrance. Recommend to arrive early as there a long queue during normal lunch hour.

This place had a nostalgic feel that took me back to my childhood. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and while the atmosphere was cozy, it was filled with the lively chatter of customers. Although the food took a bit of time to arrive, you could really feel the care and effort put into each dish when it finally did. It was a truly satisfying experience. I’d say this restaurant could be described as a place that serves Western dishes with a Japanese twist. No matter where you’re from or how old you are, I think anyone could enjoy the food here. If you’re planning a visit to Lake Toya, I’d definitely recommend stopping by this restaurant.

Nice Japanese western food restaurant. We really enjoy the winter atmosphere when it's so cold and snowing outside but warm and cozy inside. recommend their omurice and fried scallops.

Yelp
We came here for dinner when we were in Lake Toya. It was rated very high and only 5 minute walk from the ryokan that we were staying. They served Western-style food. We loved the warm and cozy ambient as soon as we walked in from the chilly weather. Food was tasty with good presentation. The two of us had the hamburger steak and the omurice. They served the soup in a tea cup. That was cute.

Yelp
Great food and outstanding customer service. He had a delicious lunch with a cabocha pumpkin as the container. It was so good we went back the next day also for lunch. Located about 2 blocks from the bus terminal and close to the main promenade in Toya lake.

Yelp
Nice atmosphere and prompt attention by staff. They refilled my water glass multiple times without even needing to ask. Food exceeded my expectations.
