Bracken Hide Hotel

Beautiful, peaceful, comfortable.... i would stay a ful week if i could. the Bracken Hide Hotel is a truly special place. Its a short 15-20 mins walk from central Portree, with individual huts/hides that give a secluded and private feeling. the rooms are comfortable and spacious (we took the smaller), heating is hootttt, bed is comfy, great amenities (teas, coffeee, chocolate), TV, nice toilettries .... overall really comfy. We took the golf cart to get to the room with our suitcases and back to the car with the check out, but otherwise we walked to and from the main building. Breakfast was SPECTACULAR, and w can also vouch for the dinner menu and the cocktail bar, where we spent new years. Some commenters mention that the sauna isn't hot.... we had it two days. The first day, as the door had been left open by previous guests, the sauna was indeed not really hot. However, the second day, it was working and heated perfectly. Overall, would super recommend. I will say that i do not understand the low reviews? Its very clear that the hides require a walk, that there is a short walk to the breakfast or to the parking, its clear from the pictures and from the hotels own description ... if you know what you're signing up for, why complain about it later?

The Bracken Hide Hotel was a fantastic place to stay! Upon arrival the staff were friendly and welcoming. The golf cart escort to the room is necessary, but also a great opportunity to chat briefly with the staff. While my cabin was closer to the main building (which I was grateful for), and others are further up the hill and a longer walk. My location was perfect for me though! The cabin itself was spacious enough for me (could have definitely been great for 2 people though). There are two closets for clothes, a luggage rack, and extra space in the room for a second suit case. They provide a boot tray as well! I also enjoyed the electric kettle for some tea. There is heating and underfloor heating, so no worries about getting too cold in the fall/winter. The cabin felt like a retreat. While there are lights on the paths, you might need the flashlight on your phone at some points. The lack of light pollution is fantastic though because you can truly see the stars! |The restaurant on site was AMAZING! Their pumpkin/cinnamon tart with ginger ice cream was the most perfect dessert ever. The staff were friendly. In the super cozy, welcoming bar, the bartender was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. Breakfast each day was delicious and they had a lot to offer -- including a variety of fresh fruit which was nice. |They also have a nice outdoor pool and sauna. I did not use them, but I saw someone else doing the cold plunge. I peeked into the sauna -- it was cozy, warm, and clean! |Overall I thought it was a perfect place to stay! You will need a car (hired or tour guide) to access other parts of Portree and Skye of course.

Bracken Hide Hotel offers glamping at its best. The location is perfect, surrounded by nature with beautiful views that make it incredibly relaxing. The accommodation is clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully set up, combining luxury with the outdoor experience. The service is excellent and welcoming, making the stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful, high-quality glamping getaway.

Absolutely loved my stay at the Bracken Hide and would definitely recommend you stay here! I wasn't entirely sure what to expect when it came to the pods, whether or not they'd be more like glorified camping cabins or more like rooms. I was very pleasantly surprised that they were very nice and not like camping at all! They were so cozy, the sound of the rain on the roof was the perfect vibe for relaxing through a downpour. The plumbing was real, functionable plumbing and didn't feel like the power was less or anything. I was a little confused at first by the heating and cooling, however, it was very effective and would warm up or cool down the pod very quickly. ||The staff at this hotel were wonderful, especially in the restaurant and whiskey bar. The food was wonderful, breakfast was a highlight (they give you french press coffee and the food was wonderful- especially the pancakes and bacon) and it was fun to try some different whiskeys in the evening. ||It's definitely a bit of a climb to the pods, and the gravel hasn't settled yet, so it's very loose and hard to walk in fyi. If you aren't fond of hiking or it's difficult to, you'll want to book a pod lower or closest to the restaurant.

We absolutely loved our stay! It’s such a unique and memorable place — more of an adventure destination than a typical hotel, which made it such a cool part of our trip. Considering the staffing challenges the Isle of Skye faces in general, the service was excellent. We knew what to expect, so the smaller rooms and short walks to the cabins weren’t an issue at all. Overall, a wonderful experience, and we’d definitely return!

We stayed at the Braken Hide for two nights as we were on the Rabbies 3-Day Skye Tour and we opted to choose our own hotel. We were SO GLAD we chose this fantastic hotel experience as we jut loved it The history of it is special, was 9-hole golf course founded in 1893. The cozy hides/cabins are spread out and you have to walk on a gravel path to your hide. We are adventurous and love nature/hiking so this was the perfect place for us to spend 2 glorious nights. The first morning we woke up to 3 adorable sheep right outside our door and a spectacular sunrise. We will always remember this magical and very unique stay. Loved every minute of it, thank you!

If I could give them 10 stars I would. The best stay of my trip! Quiet, private, luxurious, friendly, welcoming, and all around made to make the customer feel valued. I loved every second of my stay. The room was so comfy. The bed was soft, the shower was hot, and the peace enjoyed was flowing.

The pods are lovely hillside rooms. Golf cart service is provided to take your luggage from check in to your suite. Hopefully you will get treated at wake up time to a beautiful mist over the valley. Also, make sure you look up to enjoy the stars! Check in staff was helpful and courteous. Furthering what some of the other reviewers have noted, if you take long showers hot water may become an issue. Also, while there is a television in the suites, you are required to pair your own device to watch, which can be problematic as the wifi in some areas is not strong enough to stream. All in all an enjoyable and unique experience!
