Not a bad distance from Charlottetown. However that is the only good thing about this hostel. Prior to booking an airbnb reservation for this place for 7 people, we asked Gary, the owner/manager if there would be a lock for the room, and it was confirmed that there would be for our safety. Upon arriving at the location, the room did not have a lock on it. And when confronting the owner/manager, they placed the blame on not visiting the location since May of 2022, so therefore they weren't sure if there would be a lock on the room door or not. Gary also stated that the room was reserved for "strange people", which I can only translate to "strangers/random people" so therefore a lock wasn't necessary. Remember, this is after confirming the information and our booking through airbnb. In addition to this security issue, the building was lackluster in every aspect. Washrooms and showering quarters were not maintained and we could barely see anything in there due to the poor/lack of lighting. The bunk beds and bedsheets felt dirty upon touch, that was the severity of the lack of cleanliness. There was an abundance of insects crawling all over the floor and hiding in the crevasses in the bunk beds. The owner/manager then told us that because of the location, it was perfectly fine and that we were only raising concerns because we were "not truthful people". After that uncalled for insult, Gary demanded us to leave the property, leaving us with no where to stay for the night. Luckily we found a hotel in PEI with vacancies which cost us $650/room for the night...
Do not bother with this place. Reserve a better place in advance, not worth the trouble of finding last minute, almost extortionate priced alternatives.
