Braehead Manse

Stunning renovation to a former Church property. My travel plans were disrupted due to weather and Lin very efficiently took charge and made the necessary re-bookings on my behalf with Adam's support in providing transport to and fro. I am very grateful to them. My room was spacious and comfortable. Delicious cooked breakfast and conveniently close to the local hotel for evening meals. More than happy to recommend Braehead Manse to fellow Kiwi travellers.

Stayed here for one night during my one week Orkney vacation. The building is beautifully restored, with large bedrooms and a modern kitchen. There are two rooms, which can be rented on a B&B basis or as self-catering. Bathrooms are spacious and modern. Despite the remote location, there is fast and free Wi-fi, which was much appreciated. The breakfast was excellent, and the smoked salmon was a particular treat. The host was very friendly and interesting to chat with, with a unique perspective on living on the islands. The only thing I would say (and the reason I knocked off a point) is that the place could be cleaner. Part of it is probably due to the age of the building, and I admit I'm a stickler for this, but there were definitely some dusty corners etc in both the bedroom and bathroom. Not a huge issue, so overall this is still a very solid choice for Westray and I would recommend staying here.

My husband and I came to stay at Braehead Manse for two nights on our honeymoon and we're kicking ourselves for not staying longer! Lin was sweet and helpful, giving great sightseeing advice and cooking amazing meals. She was very flexible on food and we ended up having breakfast but also a packed lunch for a day of adventures and a home cooked dinner. The other room in the building was unoccupied, so we had the whole things to ourselves. Lin and Adam have done a beautiful job renovating this former church hall - it's open and airy, clean and bright, and perfect for a Westray getaway. We were flabbergasted when we walked in, easily the most beautiful place we stayed in Scotland. We can't wait to go back and bring friends!

Braehead Manse is a relatively new accomodation on Westray, I believe. Located just outside Pierowall, with stunning views from its bedroom windows, it offers two very comfortable and exceptionally spacious bedrooms with cutting-edge shower/bathrooms. The small building formerly housed the community hall for the chapel that is attached, so ceilings are high and the lounge/dining room/kitchen with its tall church windows is of palatial dimensions. Breakfast was excellent and our friendly landlords even offered a home-cooked dinner in the evening.

Braehead Manse offers either bed and breakfast accommodation in a converted church hall. The spacious accommodation is very well equipped and comfortable.||||I stayed as a bed and breakfast guest but at my request also had evening meals. The food was excellent home cooking and the choice at breakfast memorable, particularly the fresh fruit salad which was better than that provided in most hotels. ||||Lin and Adam my hosts found time to advise me on the area and picked me up from the ferry and returned me to the tiny airport when I had to leave.

Linda and Adam have made the old kirk hall into a beautiful, comfortable and spotlessly clean home away from home. They are both two of the nicest people you will meet. The room is very comfortable, with a lovely en suite bathroom. Breakfast was perfect in every way. They're very helpful too and will give advice and help for all there is to do on the beautiful isle of Westray. I hope to get back some day!

We visited Westray to see puffins, which was achieved with a wonderful guide, Graham, as well as checking out the important archaeological site.|Linda and Adam have spent a lot of time and love converting what I suspect may have been a schoolroom attached to the Victorian chapel. There are two generous bedrooms each with large ensuites and a huge sitting area and well equipped kitchen. Beds and bedding are lovely.|Adam has installed air to air heat exchangers with fan heaters and geothermal heating in the old manse. The islands and seas between are made for further development of wind and marine energy generation.|The breakfast was excellent and Linda will provide an evening meal, although the local chippy was doing very good fish the night we stayed.|Excellent base for exploring Westray and Papa Westray.

The Reid Hall is a church hall restored by Adam and Lin. There is a large common area with television and kitchen.||We had one of the two bedrooms. It was large with a double bed and a single. The large windows provided views of nearby fields.||Lin came down from their home to cook the included hot breakfast with dishes including salmon to choose from.||Both of the hosts were very friendly.
