Braga Bells Guesthouse

The guesthouse is located in the centre of the old town area, and very close to the train station. The room was spacious and clean room. There are great restaurants nearby. And we were located right where the festivities for Romana Braga was happening. The difficult part was lugging our luggage up three flights of stairs.

I do not recommend staying at Braga Bells Guesthouse if you care about your health and safety. My room had visible black mold in the bathroom, which is a serious health hazard. I was so uncomfortable using the facilities that I ended up mostly using bathroom at a nearby hotel where my friends were staying. The room I was given is located in the attic, accessible only by extremely steep and narrow stairs. While the listing mentions the absence of an elevator and that there are stairs, it fails to reflect the actual risk: these are not regular stairs, but rather a steep, unsafe staircase that starts just 30 cm from the bed – a real fall hazard. What’s more concerning, the room appears to serve as a passage to access heaters and other building equipment, raising questions about compliance with safety regulations and the risk of unmonitored access by others, and a personal safety of people staying in the room (I was worried if anything happens, random people would start coming through my room to get access to pipes or something). Also, the room is just very uncomfortable - very low (I'm just 170 cm/5'7 and I hit my head twice coming to the bathroom), the highest point of the room is the middle of it with bed - I can't imagine how difficult and uncomfortable this tiny space must be for someone taller of when traveling with someone else. Also, the roof window (the only window available) offers no proper way to block the light, making it hard to rest comfortably. Finally, the guesthouse emailed me directly asking for a tourist tax payment via bank transfer, even though the tax was clearly already included in my booking.com reservation – this feels like an attempt to extract additional, unjustified payments. I've reported the mold and overall condition of the room to local health authorities. Unfortunately, I couldn't change my accommodation due to travel plans, but I would not stay here again and do not recommend it to other travelers.

Perfect apartment in the centre of Braga. Very tidy and convenient. We had apartment 5 with a Juliet balcony, and little external balcony on the second floor. There's no lift for luggage and access is via a key code, perhaps its only downside. Apartment was internal sitting space with TV, then bed and seating by the 3 front facing windows and then a long quite big galley kitchen. The fridge smelt of meat and needed defrosting but was fine. Little freezing space in fridge. No dishwasher, clearly expect guests to graze rather than cook. Very tidy, very comfortable and quiet. A bit of street noise from the army of restaurants outside and during the day the bells of the cathedral but little vehicle activity. Very central for Braga. Would happily recommend.

We loved everything about this location. Braga is so beautiful and this apartment is smack dab in the old town square. There are lots of great restaurants in the immediate area, the train station is walking distance and there’s parking across the street. The apartment is adorable and has everything you need. I highly recommend a visit to Braga and staying at this darling guesthouse.

I really enjoyed this place. The location is perfect, right in the middle of the city a next to many restaurants and bars. There's plenty of options for night life and the rooms still are quiet. There's A/C in every room. The only problem I personally had was the lack of a bidet, but that's not for everyone. The beds where very comfortable and the automatic check in and check out was quick, easy and well efficient. Keep in mind the WiFi was a bit troublesome, so you shouldn't count on it working properly all the time. For the price it was a fantastic deal, I'd absolutely recommend it!

Very good location and quite big appartament we have received. Very quite room and well furnitured. The staff was very helpfull. Perfect place to stay in the center of old city of Braga. Near the house you can find a lot of places to eat and drink.

Loved the guest house, great location with easy walking to restaurants. Communication was superb and early drop off for our bags was accommodated. Exceptionally cleans and comfortable. Would stay again and recommend to other travellers

We had a wonderful 2 nights at Braga Bells. Everything was close by and within walking distance. The room was pristine and we luckily ended up having the shared bathroom to ourselves. I made a special request for the room as it was our honeymoon which they did kindly and it's was lovely to arrive to. We would definitely come back again!
