I arrived alone at the punch stand located in the courtyard, hoping to enjoy a drink in a calm atmosphere. The three people working at the stand – two men and one woman, all sellers at the punch stand – immediately confronted me with very personal questions, including where I come from, where I live, and comments about me being “shy.”
The situation became particularly uncomfortable when the two significantly older men – men old enough to be my father – together with the woman began trying to match me with one of these men. This behavior went far beyond normal customer interaction and clearly crossed personal and social boundaries.
What made the experience even more disappointing was that a female seller was present and did not intervene, despite the behavior being obviously inappropriate. As a customer, I would have expected more respect and awareness, especially in this kind of setting.
The behavior only changed once my wedding ring was noticed and my husband became visible in the background of my phone call. At that point, I was told it was “just a joke,” followed by a brief apology from the woman – but notably not from the men who had made the inappropriate remarks.
At the end, I was offered the drink “on the house.” I consciously chose not to accept this offer, withdrew cash, and paid for the drink myself. It was clear to me that I would not return to this stand.
Although this punch stand may not officially belong to the restaurant, it is located within the same courtyard and strongly affects the overall impression of the place. For women, especially those visiting alone or tourists, this can be a deeply uncomfortable and unsettling experience.
I was expecting basic respect, professionalism, and human decency. Unfortunately, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this punch stand.
