A short easy hike to the paintings. We were fortunate that with all the recent rains we could even have a swim in the river. Our guide John was very knowledgeable about the area, its history and peoples. Extended hikes into the Brandberg can be arranged in advance including a three day expedition to the top - guide required by law. Lower rates available for SADC residents.

After heavy rains in February 2025 the previously comfortable path is seriously destroyed. One has to cross water several times and negotiate many boulders. Be prepared for up to 3 hours walk, up an down. Also the access road passable only by 4x4 in the last 800 metres.

It’s a beautiful 45-60 minute walk with a guide from car park.
Temperature might very hot ! Bring water for the walk !
But it’s worth it !

The hike to the paintings is an easy one but it can easily get hot and there are flies accompanying you all the way. Bring water and cover yourself with mosquito repellant.
It takes about an hour each way, that is because no y is on a rush + the guide stops a few times to explain things.
Bonus point: there is a toilet at the painting site in case it’s needed

Osha (hoping the name is written correct) was our wonderful guide for this very interesting tour.
He showed us the paintings, and the flora and fauna of the place too! Recommended!

Very interesting to go and see. 2 hour hike in total, so bring water. You’ll have a guide after you buy your ticket in; mandatory as you’d only get lost otherwise. Our guide Arnold was knowledgeable and a pleasure to spend time with. Thank you!

Nice walk, can be done in a bit less than 2-hours. Make sure to go early in the morning to avoid the heat.
I think they could mark the path better, so you can enjoy the walk yourself.
