I stayed at this hotel last night and disappointed doesn't come close to how I feel. We were hoping to use this hotel as our wedding reception and wanted to try it out first. I'll start with the 2 huge plus points. The location is stunning and the food is fantastic. Now the let down from arrival. No sign to reception to check in. Bistro doors were closed at 3pm so random unsigned hallway leads to an open plan office. Call number and I'm quickly greeted by David who checks me in. Room 2 is a Superior Superking. Enter and the carpet hadn't been hoovered. Questionable marks about 7ft high on wall, dirty table, socket switch broken off, inside of kettle burnt, bedside lamp broken, mould on back of curtain and around window, unbelievable dusty to the point where a large dead spider on the phone was covered in it. Bathroom, more mould everywhere, chipped glass, mirror light broken and missing bulb. Shower head holder broken. Cigarette butts on patio area. Not a great nights sleep as the walls are paper thin and even though there were probably no more than 10 people staying you could hear everything. Breakfast experience wasn't very good either. Nobody there to welcome you. Grab a table, go get a look warm coffee (wasnt using the kettle in the room) and eventually the chef who was doubling up as the waiter (he was great btw and is wasted at this venue) comes and takes our order. Lovely cooked breakfast (continental left a lot to be desired). Check out there is a drop box but a female member of staff took our room key. No mention of how our stay was just asked our room number. We had just booked our wedding venue at St. Conan's Kirk and wanted to get a true feeling for the place. What was a special day for us was left with a sour taste after this experience. I really hope the cleaning and hospitality issues are looked at because what could be an amazing hotel is a huge let down.
