Brandy Melville - Melbourne

Have been there a lot of times and bought a lot of clothes every time. Really enjoyed the clothes and the shop assistants are really friendly! However the security can improve her attitude and be more polite when I was on a call and didn’t hear her.

Brandy always has cute and high quality clothes, I’ve bought online and only just went in store the other day. I walked in, greeted by no staff, which was fine as it was a busy day. I picked up a few items and went to the change rooms, the girl who helped me was lovely, but then when I went to check out I heard many workers communicate about some sketchy girls? I wasn’t even near the till and I heard it. I got checked out by this girl, absolutely dull and seemed so miserable (lowk awkward). I was walking out to leave with my friend when an employee zoomed past us with a bunch of clothes in her hands, placed them on a random bunch of clothes and stopped in front of me. She asked to do a bag search and proceeded to put her hands inside the bag of clothes I just got, reading over the receipt and lifting items. Then she looked through my other shopping bags and even asked to see my shoulder bag. Once she was done with me she asked to see my friends, doing the same. After she found NOTHING (what i expected) I walked out feeling like a thief because we were the only ones bag searched, AND NOT EVEN BY A SECURITY GUARD. This was honestly disgusting and unprofessional behaviour because I know they weren’t talking about me (a paying customer??) when they said there were sketchy girls. I will never be going back there again, unless I wanna feel like I’m a thief being chased by workers.

I was really excited to visit Brandy Melville in Melbourne and even drove quite a while just to go there. The store and clothe section were nice, but the experience was honestly disappointing. When I was paying with cash, the staff seemed a bit impatient and made the situation feel awkward. But what really ruined it for me was the security guard — as I was leaving, she just stood there staring at me like I had stolen something. It was so rude and uncomfortable. I even tried to smile at her to be polite, but she kept glaring at me, which made me feel humiliated for no reason. I left the store upset and honestly don’t want to go back after that kind of treatment. I’ve also added a photo of the security guard (with her face blurred for privacy reasons) on Google Maps to show who I’m referring to, I know that not every staff member and security staff is this this is just my experience.

The selection of clothes is amazing (albeit slightly overwhelming but in a fun way) but the service is lacking. The overall atmosphere is one of judgement and coldness, though I've been to a few brandy stores around the world and that vibe stays true in each of them generally. If you go in not expecting much sevice and only to find nice clothes then your experience won't be so soured. It's been mentioned a few times that security can be quite intense, it's definitely true. 2/5 because just having nice clothes isn't really enough to have a good experience overall for me personally.

the biggest brandy i've been to with so many items though it's also the messiest and worst employees wise that i've seen. there's a huge lack of customer service from floor employees who aren't helpful, ignoring customers and loudly gossiping. the checkout girls are either nice or genuinely seem like they hate their job. super awkward and rude security woman. it's literally SO uncomfortable everytime i shop there everyone could use some training

overall I had a very positive experience, the three girls on the register this afternoon (13/12 around 4pm) appeared to be super kind and helpful and none of the workers had negative attitudes as described in the reviews below. From my experience in Brandy’s in other countries and working retail, the staff are happy to assist but I don’t believe in the fast paced environment of the store that it is necessary for them to individually greet each customer due to how many people come and go, it would just be too hard. Whilst the store was slightly messy in certain areas I think that is expected during the holiday period. Regarding the security everyone seemed to be bag checked from how it appears and it didn’t seem to be targeted by race, gender or appearance. I would definitely visit again.

I absolutely love the clothes here and they are pretty reasonable priced, but the workers and security guards need to improve their attitude. The workers were walking around the store and bumping and pushing past customers barely apologising and as soon as I get to the door security checks my bag. The checkout girls are really nice though.

This was said before so I’m not singled out or the only one that faced this. I went it to browse the store to see if they had a nice denim jacket I could buy. Couldn’t find anything so made my way out. I had two shopping bags in hand and the security there stopped me to check ‘both’ bags. Clearly this is a race thing and the security there is trying to pick every Asian that walks in and out the store. Hope they realise stealing isn’t based on race lol. Why can’t you have those alarm things that mall stores have incase anything is taken? Not all of us want to steal or are here finding ways to take something. It’s clearly not a normal procedure. They are picking on pocs. Never coming here again.
