Brandy's on Main

I would love to have loved it - pretty place and nice people and appreciated the live piano. The entres were fairly priced considering what they included and in general the seasoning was fine. French onion is a hard thing to make well and the preparation was very good, but it was exceedingly bland. Had this been a $10-$20 per meal restaurant that you didn't need a reservation, I would not have even commented, but for $120 plus tip, I expect exceptional service and food. Craft Steak in Las Vegas or Gibson's in Chicago or Bones in Atlanta are not significantly more expensive and their food is much better. Additionally, there were a lot of bones in my wife's trout.

A hidden gem, for sure! The food was spectacular alongside the service. Very sweet and accommodating. The atmosphere was classy and cozy. I loved looking at all the artwork as we sat for our meal. Highly recommend for a date night or a small party. I will certainly be back again as soon as possible.

Second post: My husband took me to Brandy’s for my birthday last week. (Restaurant didn’t know of my “special occasion “ my husband didn’t want mention it. That’s fine. Anyway, it was deliciously perfect. Staff wonderful. We had Ben! The only thought and observation that where we were seated you can see right into kitchen. The door behind/by bar area. Not a pleasant sight to look at as relaxing and eating. We were surprised about that. Ruins the ambience of the beautiful restaurant. First post: Atmosphere very nice. Paintings on the walls, the owner painted. Beautiful. Staff very knowledgeable. Bread and desserts made in house. Yum. We had two appetizers. Shrimp cocktail and lobster Bacall. Delicious. Best ever! My husband had the Old Blue Eyes and I had the Michael Jordan for our dinner choices. Delicious and tender. The only thing I wanted my filet medallions medium well. They were more well but still tender. We will go back! Want to try other entrees for sure. Sorry, didn’t have my phone with me for photos.

Went to Brandy's On Main in downtown Hendersonville to celebrate my birthday, and what a delight it was! Our server told us this was a scratch kitchen. Everything is made from scratch daily. The meal started with several slices of their warm, homemade bread that has 13 spices in it. Oh, what a taste sensation! My partner ordered a cup of Shrimp and Salmon Chowder - very tasty. I ordered the Lobster Bisque, best I've had outside of New Orleans! We then decided to split "Sleepless in Seattle" - fresh Maine Lobster, shrimp, with Portabella Mushrooms, and Cavatappi pasta in a Brandy Fontina Cheese cream sauce. The seafood and pasta were perfectly cooked and served in a beautifully rendered sauce. We closed our meal with a Creme Bruleé with Berries that was served with chilled spoons and then a Champagne toast - a wonderful end to a truly delightful meal. Great way to celebrate a birthday!

We came in during holiday weekend rush with no reservation. Staff sat us quickly and the food was great. The true star of the show was our waitress Michelle though. My 1 year old is in a tantrum phase and she was so attentive with coloring pages, pulling the table cloth back etc. She was wonderful. Thank you so much Michelle for making our dining experience as pleasant as possible. This exhausted momma truly appreciated it.

My fiancé and I had our 5 year anniversary dinner here as a tribute to our first ever date at Brandy’s 5 years ago. I requested the same table we sat at then. They were able to accommodate! they had some extras on the table I wasn’t expecting, chocolates, a sign that said “Happy Anniversary” we even received champagne for a toast on the house! Our server was fantastic! The food has always been perfect! We love coming here and plan to make a tradition of it! -D&J

Incredible service. Clever dishes with plenty of in-house/homemade touches. Elevated cocktails. Delightful staff. Gendered washrooms, but (at least in the women's) fully-enclosed stalls. Handicap accessible, though the doorway may be narrow for some mobility devices. Bar seating, table seating, & a semi-private family or party dining-area. Highly recommend for delivery now, appetizers, or dinner. Upscale-casual vibes. Reservations recommended, but not necessary. LGBTQAI+ friendly.

The steaks were perfect! My husband's was medium and I had well done. The waitress Chloe was attentative and made our first time enjoyable. Reservations are a must. Piano playing, eh. Looking forward to return. Thank you James & Bob

Unless you're a heterosexual white couple, you might as well try eating somewhere else. On two consecutive nights, the older lady at the front door refused to sit me and my partner. Mind you she watched us hold hands through the window and when we attempted to enter she stopped us and then flipped the sign to closed. She didn't apologize nor explain, she flipped the sign and closed the door. There was no way this location was closing as it was only 7:45pm on a Thursday. Assuming that event was a single event, tonight (Saturday), as my partner and I attempted to eat dinner there; The same lady told us there was zero space available although there were two very obviously empty seats at the bar. She then referred us to go to the bar next door which is very clearly a lesbian owned and operated bar. It's sad that a small community like Hendersonville has people like this woman openly stopping people based on sexual preference. 0/10. I do not condone business's that advertise inclusivity but when faced with diversity cower behind a "closed" sign.

I understand the choice for great restaurants is not abundant in Hendersonville. But to give this place five stars is just beyond our comprehension. Is it truly bad? No. Is it good? No. I am sixty five and it just seems like my 85 year old parents would be more comfortable here. We've been coming here for years only because we don't have the heart to tell our friends who request our presence how we really feel about the place they like. The place and the menu is tired. We can't justify spending five star prices for the mediocracy we experience

Went to Brandys for our anniversary dinner this past weekend. It was wonderful! The food was great, the background piano music and general atmosphere made it a very pleasant experience. The beautiful artwork, by the owner, was a pleasant surprise and only enhanced the ambiance. The service was spot on and we left very happy with our choice to dine there. We highly recommend.

Excellent service, delicious and well prepared food in a comfortable ambience. When we left our thoughts were, we need to do this more frequently. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Love the atmosphere! The menu items are fine and welcomed. Unfortunately, the service and food quality fall short. Our waiter spent little time with us and when he did briefly drop by, seemed quite curt and frustrated if we asked any questions. When we received our food, it was warm, but not hot. The steaks were not prepared to ordered temperature and the side items were not fresh. The waiter seemed quite offended after he solicited our honest feedback. The fish was better prepared than the steaks, but definitely not fresh. We are all sorry to say, that the celebration of our special occasion was pleasant but not an enjoyable experience. There are so many great choices of restaurants in the nearby area that without significant improvements, I do not foresee a return visit to Brandys On Main. Very disappointing.

Spent our 21st Anniversary at Brandy's tonight. It was their first day back from taking a brief holiday. Hubs mentioned that it's our anniversary when he made the reservation and a little blackboard on the table said "Happy Anniversary." Our waitperson was Michelle. She was pleasantly observant of our every need. We ordered salad and lobster bisque, before our main course, and Michelle accompanied these with a glass of champagne. Delightful! Wayne had a lobster and shrimp pasta dish and I had the daily special - fresh halibut with scallops, white asparagus, and hollandaise on rice pilaf. Chocolate cake and a shared Brandy Alexander ended a wonderful evening.

Stopped in and had the oysters. The bartender was nice and friendly, and I liked the local paintings on the wall. They were all remakes of famous paintings (Mona Lisa , etc) the only reason not a 5 star is the seafood smell was permeating from the kitchen. Would go back.

Perfect Ambiance for a romantic birthday dinner. Service was fantastic and food was perfectly delicious. The filet was the most tender and perfectly prepared I've had anywhere in a long time, melted in my mouth. My husband raved his grouper and we shared the Orange Cheescake which although full was the perfect ending delighting and refreshing our taste buds after a great meal.

Absolutely the BEST steak ever. This is my our favorite restaurant and we travel 2 hours solely to eat. Love the sides. The piano player is my favorite part. Great service. The owner is amazing. Love love love!

The atmosphere was wonderful. Like a classy, elegant restaurant. A statue of Humphrey Bogart in the lobby. All of the entrees have the names of famous people. The food was delicious! We started off with cocktails. They were delicious! Baked Brie PlateLobster BacallMichael Jordan Bridget Bardot Service was great! Our server was Nicola. Only open 4 days a week. The piano player who starts at 6 pm was incredible. Played Frank Sinatra, Elton John, Beatles, Broadway. We highly recommend. The meal was utter perfection. Prices were moderate. Portions were large.

Brandy's on Main is my very favorite restaurant in Hendersonville. Their entree dishes are unique and have so much flavor, you can't go wrong with any. What I love about Brandy's is over the years their service and food quality has stayed consistent. Always 5 Star! An added bonus is they have a wonderful piano player starting around 6 PM. Just adds to the ambience.

We went to Brandy's tonight and I must say we are liking the "new staff" Alex who made our reservation was awesome and very friendly when we were seated. Our waiter Besmir was super cool and on everything. Well done, the food was awesome and the service spot on. Plus we always love the piano player.

Best restaurant in Hendersonville. I usually order one of the filet mignon options that melts in your mouth. Waiters are professional and the piano player sets the mood for a classy evening.

Atmosphere is nice, drinks are a bit on the heavy hand side. Some of the food is either flavorless or just bad. Barely any bread at the table. Service is very nice, but slow.

Stopped at Brandy's for an early dinner while on a weekend trip to the Asheville area. Given the early hour we were the only people in the restaurant and were seated at a high top in the front window. I ordered the Trout Alamaia which was NC farmed trout topped with seafood florentine and served over rice pilaf with hollandaise. It was good but not as good as the trout I had at other restaurants in the area. My dining companion had the French onion soup which was 5 star. The broth was delicious without being too salty. The service was excellent, as I guess could be expected when you're the only person in the restaurant.

Food is excellent. Great ambiance. Love the pianist. Bar drinks are not so good. It is one of my favorites.

The Filet Mignon was tough and chewy and overcooked, and the French Onion soup was mediocre. I sent my meal back because I could hardly cut the steak with a steak knife. The Chef came to my table with the filet in a bowl and started chastising me for sending the meal back to the kitchen. I told him that my husband and I had both tasted it, and we agreed that it was tough and overcooked. He grabbed the bowl and stomped away. I was so embarrassed because we were dining with friends, and I was so upset even after I got home later. This was our first visit to Brandy's On Main, and we will never go back.

Excellent dinner! Our anniversary night was spectacular, thanks to delicious food, great service, and Art Patten, our new favorite pianist. His repertoire is endless! I am upgrading my review because the last number of meals we've had there have been exceptional! Last night was off the charts great! Brandy's daily seafood special is typically phenomenal! They offer a thick cut filet with excellent sauces over rice. If I don't get that, I generally with get The Mose, which is a mouth watering lobster/shrimp pasta dish. It's not huge, but that's fine because it is very rich! Do not overlook their creamy garlic dressing. It's homemade and delicious. We have 3 top tier restaurants here: Brandy's, Seasons, and Postero. All others are a step below. If visiting, try these first, and enjoy!

Haven't eaten here in a while and was excited to go back. Unfortunately, that isn't what happened. They have changed their dinnerware, so you think you are getting a big portion, when you are actually getting a lot less for the same price and higher. Then they claimed an oyster portion was really large, and it was really not even average. Then they charged a "large party" tip when there were only 5 people. Wouldn't recommend - very disappointed.

We had our anniversary dinner here while visiting Hendersonville. The ambience, service and food were on point for the evening. Low lighting and linen tablecloths gave that upscale vibe. The pianist played an eclectic selection of music, but I'm guessing that's a reflection of who he is- I've never seen a bright purple tuxedo with tails with a "puffy" shirt before! The food was delicious- NC trout and ribeye done perfectly medium rare. The key lime pie was a tasty finisher. (One suggestion- given the ambience they have created, it would be nice if they asked the guests to remove their baseball hats while inside. I know it's Hendersonville with a chill, outdoorsy vibe-but in a restaurant like this, there's no need for the hat.

Made Reservation by phone never was confirmed, showed up at when restaurant opened and was not even acknowledged Our first time there and this was our experience, embarrassing moment! Will never recommend or even go to this place. Worst experience of our lives in Hendersonville

What a wonderful place to relax and enjoy an excellent meal. Everything was prepared perfectly and the service was kind and efficient. Highly recommend!

We went for our elopement dinner. Arrived early with a no problem no worry smile. We were greeted by the owner who sat us at the bar. A lovely couple we just met paid for our wine and mule! We proceeded to our table which was decorated specifically for us. My husband had steak and I had fish. We were so tired I don't recall the names of the meal. What I remember is the customer service was so amazing that I will recommend this special place to everyone and anyone. 100/10. Flawless ambience. What a wonderful way to begin a new chapter in our lives!

I've eaten at Brandy's on Main twice this week Tuesday and Saturday. The food, the service and the atmosphere is absolutely wonderful!! Such a nice feeling to go in a restaurant, and really feel from the hostess to the servers, they appreciate your business and are happy to see you. Brandy's on Main is my new favorite place for a delicious meal in downtown Hendersonville.

Wonderful ambience, Art, soft piano music playing and great food to balance out the perfect evening. Good food, good service ... a true Hendersonville Gem!

It is hard for us to do this and here is the but, we must. This is not the first time to visit this restaurant we always give a second chance. Our dinner last night was awful. Note we will not go over each item but none were eaten completely because they were compromised with sub par ingredients or less expensive ingredients that make the experience of enjoying an evening out a disappointment. We drove an hour to get there. We also understood Hendersonville NC is a draw for its location but this place should be avoided. Sorry, we support all local businesses but as they don't want to be disappointed by us, we can not be disappointed by them once again. We will not try it again nor take our guests there and have them suffer the same disappointment.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary there a few weeks ago. We have always wanted to try it but never have. Boy have we been missing out. It was delicious from appetizer to dessert. If you haven't tried it you need to. I do suggest making reservations which is what we did. The ambiance was great.

just had dinner here tonite with my grandmother . it was fantastic ! interesting decor and vibe . our server chloe was super attentive and so warm and kind . we both had steak - i rec the brandy ribeye . every dish was really great . the whole place down to the food is non pretentious but delicious . that's kind of my fav thing in a restaurant . homemade crème brûlée was insane . will def come back next time i'm in town .

We went to Brandy's for our anniversary hoping to experience what many others commented on was an excellent meal. Greatly disappointed!! My wife and I ordered the onion soup---very few onions and not very flavorful. I ordered the Sleepless in Seattle Dinner--The shrimp were small and tasteless and the lobster meat was measly as there were only 2 or 3 tiny pieces---the sauce in the dish was very disappointing. My wife ordered trout with blue crab---the crab must have gone missing---maybe there was a teaspoon or less of crabmeat coated over the trout Usually when it is a special occasion the restaurant offers a complimentary dessert---none offered here The service was fine but the food was super disappointing----certainly not worthy of any fine dining establishment Very overpriced and underwhelming---$100 for onion soup for two and 2 sub mediocre dishes with tax and tip--left hungry and very underwhelmed Will not return to Brandy's

I normally avoid places named after a Looking Glass song but man were we blown away by this classy joint. Ignore Bogey packing in the lobby and sit at the bar if you can't get a resie! The wedge salad was classic, the Audrey Hepburn with trout was spot on (a huge portion; I've made fish tacos with it twice ;-) and my partner's grouper Florentine was beautifully prepared/presented. If you are an IPA fan, don't miss the Full Steam on draft; outstanding. Hop forward without bitterness! Worth the money...

Delicious food & great service. We had a party of 7 and the service was wonderful, Taylor was great!! . Brussel sprouts are so delicious. I had the weiders vegetables, so yummy!

I've always enjoyed Brandy's. The food is good, they have a pianist (which I could take or leave, but it's nice I guess), and the interesting art. The dummies or mannequins or whatever are kinda weird, but they are not usually too crowded and seem to do a good job.

My husband and I visited for our anniversary meal and were very disappointed. I'll start with the positives.... great ambiance, service, and location. Now to the negatives.... I ordered a Mojito and the only thing I could taste was rum and sugar. The Mojito tasted very bland and lacked lime and soda water. I asked the waitress for extra limes and the limes were so old and dry, I couldn't get hardly a drop of juice. Well this wasn't the worst. Next came the food. Great presentation, but EVERYTHING lacked salt and flavor. It's almost like they completely forgot to add any salt or pepper. Needless to say we were highly disappointed considering the price tag and the quality of food. We sadly won't be back, but hope they make adjustments to become better.

Dined at Brandys for the first time tonight along with 3 other couples. If you like crab and steak, you'll like it very much. Since I'm allergic to crab, that limited my choices a bit. I ended up ordering the scallops w/liquine along with a caesar salad. All of our dishes arrived within a reasonable time and were hot and very good. The steaks people ordered were all described as delicious. So why the 3-stars. It was their piano player. Unfortunately, we were seated across from him. But given the acoustics and small place, the sound carried everywhere. He wasn't playing soft background music but very loud hard to describe pieces. It was nearly impossible to carry on a conversation. I saw wait staff having issues with hearing people's orders. For that reason alone, we won't be going back. If you want a concert environment or don't want to hear the person next to you, you'll really like it. Otherwise, there are much better options downtown.

inedible food, very slow service. we tried the restaurant a number of years ago and were not impressed. it is very popular so we gave it another try for a friend's birthday dinner. big mistake. The quality and the service was a disappointment and dampened our celebration. the website indicated that there were vegan options, but only one, an overcooked vegetable sautee with rice or butter infused mashed potatoes. not vegan. vegetables were soggy and the amount of sauce was over the top bad and heavy, definitely not a healthy option. my husband's steak was drowning in sauce. I am surprised they call it new American food. relying on heavy old fashioned sauces are not new cuisine.generally very slow service (the restaurant was not full and most people had been served when we got there) my food arrived cold, and probably microwaved to bring it up to temp, making the veggies soggier. It's a shame, very expensive for what it is.we and our friends will never be back.

My husband and I had a wonderful dining experience tonight at Brandy's. The food was absolutely amazing - we had the lobster puttanesca and a fillet with lump crabmeat with asparagus and served on top of grits. We finished it off with the most delicious dessert of homemade bread pudding with salted Carmel ice cream! The staff was very warm and friendly- and we got the chance of meeting the owner/ chef as well! We highly recommend this...and if we ever come back to this area we will be stopping by here again!

I highly recommend this restaurant. I would give this 10 stars if I could. The food was amazing from the appetizers to the main course. The chef even came out to greet us. Our server was friendly and very informative. A must go!!!

This is long overdue. We went to Brandy's in August, 2022 and had a really great time. We were a party of four, and each ordered something different. The service and food were excellent, and the ambiance with piano music, was really enjoyable. Highly recommend, and we will be back!

Since moving here from San Francisco this little Gem is now my favorite upscale restaurant. The attention to detail is Amazing from the butter to the Entree. To the artwork (for sale) to the ambiance. Attention to detail is everywhere. Add a Beautiful Grand Piano in the middle of the restaurant with a multi-talented pianist setting the auspicious mood. The wait staff is very professional and knowledgeable. Shannon is awesome.... ask for her!! This menu could make waves in Manhattan. There isn't a menu like it within 100 miles. The Chef/Owner is as humble as he is talented. With great Wine and cocktail options, Brandy's a Sparkling voyage into Culinary Excellence !!
