Excellent food, even better than some of the Latin American restaurants along Keele, St Clair.. definitely home style because the food tastes authentic, it’s done well with good and fresh ingredients.
The buñuelos were fantastic, fluffy inside, moist with the outside having a firm enough exterior, giant buñuelos. Bad for my health as it’s deep fried but good for my soul! We bought 4 large ones! $3@ better than most buñuelos we’ve tried.
The pargo frito (snapper) was fresh, crispy and seasoned perfectly. The rice was flavourful and the salad was generous. It had patacones too.
It was a weekend so there was soup. We had the fish sancocho, good choice! The rice was cooked in coconut - milk? Oil? Not sure but it was flavourful and divine! The sancocho soup was delicious- it had 2 kinds of potato, yucca and plantain, with a piece of corn. Mouthwatering goodness.
We also ordered the bandeja paisa. It was a relief that there was no blood sausage and instead, a tasty, savoury sausage that was meaty and delicious. It came with an arepa, flavourful rice, a piece of avocado, thin slice of grilled steak, an egg and a chicharon. Who could ask for more? Oh, and a generous portion of delicious slow cooked savoury beans.
We also ordered the maracuya drink and the lulo. Both were good although I liked the lulo more as it wasn’t so sweet.
We were given complimentary Colombian coffee after which sealed our satisfaction to the highest level.
Service was friendly and quick. Top notch. This family run restaurant is a gem!
We found this place by chance and we will return to try the rest of the dishes.
Highly recommend!
