The Brass Lantern Inn is in a perfect location. Our amazing host, Sharon, is exceptional and so pleasant. She wears many hats and is excellent. All staff were wonderful. Our room was very clean and bed was so comfy. Lovely outdoor patio. Continental Breakfast is personable and nice selection placed right on our tray. And cookies at night!

We booked the Barclay room for a long weekend. The room was spacious and clean - with a smaller, but very functional bathroom with shower. The bed was comfy with enough pillows for both of us. Of course, the original building is older, so you have to expect some quirks - the bathroom door is hard to close and there is no overhead lighting - which didn't bother us in any way. There was AC which we could control, which was nice. ||It's not quite a Bed and Breakfast in the true sense - for breakfast, you fill out your personalized menu of drinks, baked goods, fruit / yogurt for the next day. Then, you swing by the kitchen to pick up your tray for your room. So, you don't get breakfast service, but what we did get was nicely prepared with baked goods served warm - and they were able to have gluten free toast and muffins, which was a very welcome surprise as I have a gluten sensitivity. We were able to enjoy this on the outside patio which was comfortable and spacious.||There are beach towels and chairs available for use. It was super easy to grab what you need and hop on the Wave bus that goes straight to the beach (Jetties beach for us). ||We very much enjoyed our stay and the innkeeper Sharon was very accommodating and helpful. The location was perfect for walking around town - no need for a car.

We stayed 6 nights at the Brass Lantern Inn, in the Brant Point Room. We highly recommend this inn! The location, rooms, breakfasts and staff cannot be beat. Sharon and staff were very kind and welcoming. We appreciated Sharon's help when our flights home got cancelled. The views of the harborfrom the Brant Point Room on the third floor are worth the steep set of stairs, but do keep that in mind if you choose this room. It could be difficult with heavy luggage. We loved that coffee, tea, cold water and fruit were always available. We liked sitting in the garden as well! Nantucket is a special place and this inn is sure to be one of our favorite memories.

We had a wonderful stay at the brass lantern in. Our room was small but lovely, and the homemade muffins (right out of the oven!) and homemade granola and chia seed parfaits were the perfect start to our day. Sharon was easily reachable, kind, and professional. PERFECT location, just one block from all the action - but a quiet street itself. Would highly recommend!

A lovely and well run inn in a great location! We were in the Brant Point room on the third floor. If you have mobility issues this is not the room for you because the stairs to the third floor are very narrow and winding and you need to duck your head to avoid beams on the way to your room. The room itself is quite lovely- beautiful linens and a nice amount of space. The breakfasts are delicious! It's right in town so easy to get to everything. The outside patio is furnished with ample lounge furniture and tables and has attractive landscaping and shade. It's a wonderful place to relax and read a book or to eat breakfast outside in the morning. Would highly recommend.!

We had a lovely stay at Brass Lantern Inn. Sharon was so helpful and accommodating, and she was even able to upgrade our room upon our arrival. The location of the Inn is excellent — less than a 5-minute walk into town. Breakfast is available as part of your stay. The Inn is historic, so visitors should remember that older buildings on Nantucket have character, you can hear your upstairs neighbors if you're on the first floor, and some amenities aren't as modern as one might assume. But we love that type of charm when on the island, and we would happily stay at Brass Lantern Inn again. Thank you to Sharon for helping make our stay so enjoyable!

Google
I would recommend the Brass Lantern to anyone vacationing in Nantucket! The location couldn't be better: a very short walk from the ferry and an even shorter walk to the center of downtown. The Whaling Museum, tons of restaurants and shops are all just around the corner. The common areas are beautiful and clean, with hot tea and accoutrements available all day and freshly baked cookies at 5PM daily. Our room was spacious and updated, with a large shower and King bed (we stayed in the Campanula room). The staff is warm and accommodating. Breakfast is ordered via their website the night before, where you make your selections for the following morning and pick a time slot to pick up your premade breakfast tray. Breakfast is a continental style of pastries, yogurt, fruit, etc. although one day we ordered spinach and feta croissants which were hot and delicious! Most things are completely homemade including the muffins and granola which is a very nice touch. Pots of coffee are available in the morning but the communal Keurig with a variety of pods is also available all day. Although we stayed in April when it was chilly, I noticed there were plenty of beach towels for use for those vacationing in the warmer months. We loved our stay and would recommend Brass Lantern to anyone! Thanks, Sharon, for everything!

A Perfect Stay at the Brass Lantern Inn From the moment we arrived at the Brass Lantern Inn, we knew we had found something truly special. The location is absolutely perfect—nestled in a scenic, peaceful setting that feels like a true getaway, yet conveniently close to everything you’d want to explore in the area. The Inn itself is warm, charming, and incredibly comfortable. Every room feels thoughtfully prepared, with beautiful touches and attention to detail that create a true sense of home. It’s clear that a lot of love and care has gone into every corner of this place. Breakfast each morning was a highlight—delicious, beautifully presented, and made with quality ingredients. It’s the kind of meal that sets the tone for a perfect day, whether you’re off on an adventure or just enjoying the tranquility of the Inn. A special mention must go to Sharon and her wonderful team. Their hospitality is top-notch—friendly, genuine, and always attentive without ever being intrusive. You can really feel the passion they have for making every guest’s stay memorable. If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with outstanding service, exceptional comfort, and that rare feeling of being truly welcomed, the Brass Lantern Inn is it. We can’t wait to return.

Yelp
Adorable place to stay! This is my third time staying here and I love it. Sharon cooks a fantastic breakfast every morning. She is absolutely wonderful! Everything is neat and clean and has such a homie feel. Tea and cookies everyday at 5pm!

Yelp
I have to say, they really take care of you here. Sharon and the staff were very welcoming. I wasn't expecting much from the free breakfast, but it was fantastic. Each day, there are different freshly made baked goods to choose from. Blueberry muffins, ham and cheese croissants, scones. That's in addition to some good Greek yogurt, fruit, granola, etc. You place your order the evening before on the website, and it's ready at the time you want. Perfect location, just a minute off busy Broad Street. The Zena Coffin room was a bit "cozy" but not cramped. Good value in the off-season, too. Would stay again.

Yelp
How disappointing after what we paid. First I made a mistake when I booked. I immediately contacted the Inn to explain and spoke to Sharon. She said she would take care of it and no charge would be incurred. Guess what! I was charged $49 for a cancelllation fee. That was 1 months later. WhenI checked in Sharon said " nothing she could do" it is the credit company. I never heard of that. Second, the breakfast was horrible, nothing hot. Will never come back and have been coming to Nantucket for years!

Yelp
We had a wonderful stay at the Brass Lantern Inn for our 20th Anniversary. We stayed in the Brandt Point room. Our room was ready by 1pm on check in day and check in was a breeze. Brant Point is located on the top floor (3rd floor) of the Inn. The stairs leading to this room are VERY steep so please keep this in mind when booking. You will have to carry your bags too. The room itself is tastefully decorated and the bathroom is newly renovated. The view is good but not great. You can see the harbor but a few other homes & trees obstruct a lot of the view. The bathroom is fantastic! We loved the rain shower head and the LED mirror. It has ample room and plenty of storage. They provide an iron, ironing board and hairdryer in the room along with basic toiletries. Breakfast is served daily. You must sign up via text the evening before. They provide you with a link and you make your selections from there. You can take the tray back to your room, eat in the dining room or on the patio. Coffee, hot tea , water and fruit are available all day in the dining room. Fresh baked cookies are also put out in the late afternoon. The Inn is centrally located and all the shops and restaurants are within walking distance. We really enjoyed strolling the beautiful streets of Nantucket. It is also very close to the ferry and Whaling Museum. You can rent bikes and Jeeps near by too. We walked to Brandt Point lighthouse - it was not far at all. We enjoyed our time in Nantucket and would definitely recommend The Brass Lantern Inn. It was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast and we couldn't have been more pleased! The grounds are nice, the rooms are clean and well appointed! We highly recommend getting a Jeep to explore the whole island and all of the lighthouses! Madaket Beach was an amazing place to catch the beautiful sunset!

Ashley B.

Yelp
Adorable B&B with such a wonderful host, Sharon! The location was perfect so we walked everywhere we needed for eating, touring, shopping and exploring the culture of Nantucket. The room was so cozy and private and Annmarie was the best baker offering a variety of baked goods and fruit we could choose from each morning to start the day and fresh baked cookies to come in to every night! It was a delightful stay and we felt very comfortable there...would definitely stay again if we return!

Yelp
Great stay at the Brass Lantern with our family canine. Extremely clean and well appointed. Only wish they offered daily maid service - breakfast was yummy too!

Yelp
Such friendly staff and beautiful rooms! We got off the ferry at noon and we were told we could put our luggage in the foyer until check in. When we got there our room was almost ready and they let us check in and put our luggage right in our room!! Thank you so much!!

M B.

Yelp
Stayed in the brant point room. The inn was lovely and the room was spacious, clean, and private. felt like a dream vacation. Not to mention the breakfasts were great!! Also, the inn is super close to all of the shops and restaurants downtown. I'd definitely come back!

Charles M.

Yelp
Imagine opening the door of your room at this B and B after dark, and you can't turn on the light. That's because there's no light switch within reach. You have to stumble around in the dark until you find the bedside table and turn on a tiny table lamp. Two of these lamps are your only source of light in this $400+ a night glorified motel room. And the maintenance is so poor that the outlet next to the sink is falling apart. Safety is clearly not first here.

Yelp
My husband and I have stayed at five different bed and breakfasts on Nantucket. We just got back from Brass Lantern Inn and its the worst! The only good thing about it is the location. First, the Innkeeper - her name is Lisa and she should not be in any customer facing business. She is rude, crude, nasty and a busybody. Interrupts you while mid conversation on the phone (on the sidewalk) and just has no sense of personal space. Second, the rooms - they are OK but worn down. Many better options in the area for same or lower price. For example, for our wedding we stayed at Veranda House - stay there! Its same location. Third, the staff - they were not friendly. And more crazily - if you have a dog - they are SCARED OF DOGS! Not just large ones, I saw staff scream and run away from a labradoodle! Why would a "dog-friendly" hotel hire staff that didn't like dogs!!! Lastly, they are not really a hotel for any sized dog. They actually will lie to you and say they are. But they aren't. Prior to booking, we called them and told them we had a Great Dane. They said they had had many Great Danes before and had a large crate and huge dog bed for him. We booked and noted our Great Dane on the reservation. We called in June to tell them about our Great Dane again. We called the night before leaving and were told they had an extra large crate (same size we have at home BTW - its a standard size) and a bed that size. On the ferry over, we got an email saying they didn't have a crate or bed and we could rent or buy one or make other accommodations. Literally 1 hour before arrival! They didn't even have a LARGE crate and they refused to rent the right size for us, so we bought a $150 dollar fencing area. The bed they had was not even large enough for a golden and our dog was very uncomfortable. The pet store owner who sold us the fencing said this happens all the time with them and they should really get stuff for large dogs or stop advertising for them. When we complained about the issue - Lisa said "You never told us you had a Great Dane" and we said no, we called three times and put in reservation. She pulled up reservation and started to say it wasn't in there, only to notice that it actually was. She then said, "Well he's a larger Great Dane than normal" - this is a demonstrably not true statement. He is only 125 lbs - which is quite small for a fully grown Dane! She refused to reimburse us for the crate or reimburse us the pet fee paid which was to cover the costs of a crate and SHE refused to admit they made a mistake. Don't stay here if you have a dog. They don't even let dogs go off leash in the dog run. That makes no sense! They should stop saying they are dog friendly for all sizes and they should hire a new manager. But definitely go to Nantucket. There are almost no people like Lisa on the island and you'll love it.

Yelp
Hands down the best inn I've stayed in ever! For starters, it's a very convenient location, with a 5 minute walk to the ferry and a 1 minute walk to the downtown area. The inn itself is very cute, clean, and sunny. Another plus is there breakfast - delicious! Fresh made muffins and scones, delicious cheese and crackers, and fresh yogurt with granola. Don't worry if you miss breakfast, though, as they often have the leftover (and still delicious) pastry items out after breakfast. In the afternoon they put out iced tea and water flavored with lemon, along with the most amazing cookies you will ever taste. Seriously, the chocolate chip cookies are to die for! Ok, I'll stop. The inn itself is very cute, clean, and comfy. I loved our suite with two bedrooms and a sitting room. Really, this inn is amazing. If I ever come back to Nantucket (and I'm planning on it) the Brass Lantern Inn will be my top choice.

Yelp
This was a perfect location, spotless housekeeping, beautiful, cozy B&B. Inn keeper greeted us upon arrival and shared a map with places to visit as well as her preferences for restaurants - being first time visitors, it was much appreciated. The back yard garden area is gorgeous and we enjoyed relaxing in the adirondak chairs in the cool evenings. Breakfast was just right with fresh baked muffins, breads, bagels, oatmeal and assorted cheese tray with fruit juices, coffee and tea. Guests can use the fridge to store wine or beer and they serve home made cookies in afternoon. Our room was surprisingly spacious for a B&B with queen bed, dresser, flat screen TV and easy chair with foot stool. Very comfortable, beautifully decorated in traditional Nantucket style. Would stay here again!

Yelp
Very convenient location to ferries (a couple blocks away, one more than the whaling museum), but it can be a little noisy when the ferries whistle to signal their leave in the morning (sounds quaint, but somewhat annoying). Staff is friendly. Bed was comfortable; full tub and shower. Stayed in the Wisteria room, which is pretty big. Fresh sugar cookies and chocolate chip cookies at 5; continental breakfast at 8 with fruit, muffins, scones, bagels, granola, etc., but not as nice a spread as in some other B&Bs; no newspapers, but Free Wifi. Neat idea to have one of those Keuring coffeemakers in the hallways by the guestroom so that anyone can make coffee/teat outside of normal hours if they wanted to. Nice to eat outside in the garden for breakfast. B&B is also pet friendly.

Christopher B.

Yelp
We had an excellent experience staying here. We were in the Barclay room - nicely sized and dog friendly, although it is right next to the front entrance on the first floor and the windows are easily peered into by anyone walking up the front stairs or passing by on the street. It can get a bit noisy with people coming in late and banging the front door or clomping up the stairs. All that being said - the whole inn is very clean and cozy, the back patio is very well maintained with lush greenery, and the breakfast is the absolute highlight of the stay. The baked goods are some of the best I've ever had (it's my understanding that they're all home-made), and frankly should be made into a side-business for the inn. It is certainly very pricey, depending on the season and availability, but the level of quality just about justifies it.

Yelp
A great little B & B right in the heart of Downtown Nantucket. The shuttle is right around the corner and you are close to all the shopping and restaurants. The rooms are well appointed and clean. The breakfast is delicious and you can enjoy their selections of homemade pastries, cheeses and jams in the dining room or the serene garden. Dog friends are welcomed and they provide you with a dog bed/blanket and bowls. The Brass Lantern also allows you to use their beach towels, chairs and umbrellas for daytime excursions to the beaches of the island. The staff at the Brass Lantern made us feel welcome and comfortable during our short stay after our wedding. We will definitely be returning in the future to celebrate anniversaries!

Yelp
We have been to the Brass Lantern Inn before. They are very well-prepared in that they have a preprinted packet they give you information as to where the dog walks are dog-friendly hotels in happenings around Town. They give your pet little dog cookies and 10% off coupon to get more cookies and the very kind and helpful. Their physical appearance is very neat well looked after in nice furnishings clean sheets every day breakfast you have available to you cheese bread spiegels cream cheese fruit cereals homemade muffins and breads coffee and Jews. If I went to near began with my pet I would definitely go to the Brass Lantern Inn.

Shari J.

Yelp
This was my third time staying at The Brass Lantern and I'm so glad we came back! It is immaculate. Crisp linens, pottery barn throws, beautiful colors on the walls. Calming. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Above & beyond as one girl walked us all the way to a bus stop (15) min away to help us find it. Breakfast was delicious with home made granola, scones and oh the French press coffee. Loved the easy walk from the ferry & to town. If I could give a 10 star I would!! Thank you & see you next year! Shari

Yelp
I had a good stay at the hotel but prices were a bit high for the type of room. It was high season so I understand the price was going to be high but I still believe they were too high for that room. The window did not open it only had an air conditioner that was quite loud. The room was just OK. I believe I am jaded because I have stayed at some of the finer hotels in the world but I still think they could've had a little bit higher quality experience for that price. If I were to say that I would recommend this hotel I would have to insist that I have a different room instead of the room right across from the kitchen and the back door. The owner/manager did try her best to accommodate us and everyone, however I was expecting a bit higher quality facility. Perhaps that was my fault in my assessment of the hotel in the first place.

Yelp
First experience at a B&B. Cozy and felt like home. Breakfast had a good selection especially the French Press coffee.

Yelp
Wonderful people, rooms and location. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast on the patio was just lovely. They were very welcoming to us and our dog. I think the Inn was sold out when we were there but it was so quiet and peaceful. I never heard any noise from any other room.

Yelp
My husband and I just did a nice weekend away to the Brass Lantern Inn; we stayed in the Brant Point room (it's on the 3rd floor and you get a small view of the water from some of the windows). The Inn was clean, the beds were comfortable, and it was in walking distance of most things (most a five minute walk or less!). The service was helpful and friendly. We got the Biking Day Tour Package and felt like it was worth it - you get a couple of drinks, bottle of wine (red or white, your choice), $20 for lunch, and a voucher for two 24 hour bike rentals at Young's Nantucket Bike Shop. The breakfast is included in the stay, but it's only a continental breakfast (bagels, toast with cheeses and jam, cereal, croissants, parfait fixings, and more); if you're like me and prefer a prepared meal/hot breakfast, you might want to go somewhere else for breakfast. The television I had was not accessible to Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing customer (AKA me!). Overall, we had a good stay but might go elsewhere for our next Nantucket visit.

Laura G.

Yelp
This hotel itself was lovely and conveniently located. Lisa, the innkeeper was very welcoming and helpful with recommendations. We had reserved a specific room and received confirmation that it was ours, only to have it then given to someone else. Additionally, the air conditioning was not centralized, with the room only having a window AC unit which didn't quite keep things cool enough given the heat of the week we stayed. Bed was comfortable and room was nicely furnished though VERY bright in the morning - we were woken before 6 due to the light in the room. Bathroom had some peeling paint and some of the fixtures (shower curtain rod, etc) had become partially detached from the wall. Overall good stay

Alex S.

Yelp
A hidden gem! Have spent 3 days there around Memorial Day for the past 13 years. Each year the owners have made improvements. The breakfasts are excellent, the rooms are clean and everyone that works there knows your name and is committed to your satisfaction.

Yelp
We stayed here as part of a Veteran's Day weekend promotion, which in and of itself was amazing that the Brass Lantern offered free rooms to veterans. Thank you! Aside from that the whole place was nice and clean and the staff were very accommodating. The bed was awesome and I will definitely be purchasing some of the Comphy brand sheets that they use on the beds at Brass Lantern. All in all we had a great experience here and would stay again if we ever return to Nantucket.

Bill F.

Yelp
Just had our 2nd stay at this very cozy Bed & Breakfast. Staff very friendly 5-minute walk to shops/restaurants. Enjoyed ourselves immensely - would highly recommend it for a very comfortable stay in the beautiful Island of Nantucket.

Maria D.

Yelp
This was. Great bed and breakfast. It had anything you could want including beach chairs and beach towels. A lovely garden in the backyard offered solitude if you wanted. The NY Times was delivered each morning if you wanted to keep up.

Diane B.

Yelp
We're annual visitors to Nantucket, returning to the same nice lodging each time. But this year, with a new puppy in tow, we had to find alternative accommodations. A google search of pet-friendly places lead us to Brass Lantern and we couldn't have been more delighted! Innkeeper, Lisa, was super-friendly and helpful. The room was large and beautiful with the most sumptuous bed sheets. Lisa brought in a perfectly sized dog bed and tray with bowls for food and water. Our Shih Tzu was in the lap of luxury! And with the tasty breakfast and homemade, warm-from-the-oven white chocolate chip and cranberry cookies in the afternoon, so were we!

Sherry B.

Yelp
Charming & pristine. Gracious and accommadating hostess and staff. There is a lovely garden for morning coffee, evening wine or just reading and chatting. Easy walk to everything.

Yelp
First off I just want to say that my wife and I were really excited to stay here this being our first trip to Nantucket. The staff was friendly and accommodating so there was no issue there. The problem with this place is that things look nice on the outside, but are falling apart internally. the bed was terrible. I've been sleeping on the same old cheep mattress at home for years and it was way better than this one. If you look at the pictures on yelp of their mattresses you can see they are higher in the end and when you lie down they are worse. We both had a hard time sleeping. Turning on the sink the water flows out of the side of the handle and sprays on the user and the floor. There were also unsightly holes and cracks in the sheet rock in the shower. Also when i went to grab some toilet paper, the whole thing just fell off the wall. For the price of almost $300 a night this stuff shouldn't be happening. The worst thing that could have been fixed though was a sticky exit door right out side our room. Every time someone went in or out they were forced to slam the door in order to latch it, so we heard that all night long. Some candle wax or tightening hinges would have fixed the problem but it didn't seem that anyone cared to. There also no sound proofing around our door, so every time someone called the hotel it sounded like the phone was ringing in our room because of the proximity to the staff's desk. The only time there was any quiet was between 11 pm and 6 am but the bed was so bad that it wasn't even appreciated.

Chris F.

Yelp
Great little place to stay on the island. Room was extremely clean and comfortable. Continental breakfast with plenty of options. Coffee/tea around the clock. Easy to book. Very good communication. Friendly staff. Good location within .3 miles of Main St. Recommend.

L R.

Yelp
Really loved this inn. It was wonderful to have found a dog friendly inn that was stylish, accommodating and extremely clean. This place was so clean, that even if you didn't have a pet, you would never have been aware a pet had ever stayed there. Really loved the staff and owner as well, so personal and lovely.

Mandy W.

Yelp
Stayed in forsythia room. Can't speak for other rooms, but was disappointed. Smallest shower I've ever stood in! Had to get out to shave my legs. Very dark. Actually stood out in the hall to put my makeup on in the mirror by the kitchen. Utilized same mirror to attempt checking my appearance as there is no mirror in room that exceeds your navel, and I'm 5'8"! Bed is awesome! But can't sleep in because the kitchen will wake you up around 7am every morning. Free wifi is nice. It's by no means a dump, and location is great, but not worth the price!

Yelp
Perfect location. Very nice Inn, and one of the select ones that "allows" very all children. Helpful staff and nice garden for late evening glass of wine.
