"Cask ales and draught beers in Rome Located between Porta Portese and Ponte Testaccio, this pub serves a rotating selection of international cask ales and draught beers as well as an impressive assortment of vintage lambic and whiskey. The kitchen prepares many dishes with beer, like Tuscan pork marinated in American hops, served with a side of lambic-infused sauerkraut."

Good place. Like most of Italy, overpriced. You need to prepare 5 euros for a glass of draft beer and around 20-30 for a decent meal. The place itself its awesome but the atmosphere and the lack of music makes it just one more decent quiet pubs for dating and not drinking and having a great time.

Nice atmosphere. The beer not cold enough and the service very slow...

The draft list is adequate though not expansive, at least for me, and the bottle list seems full of the strong and the rare, things that I’m not interested in, so take this rating as a matter of personal preference. I found the ambiance and interior a little too loud (visually and acoustically), and the decor and arrangement of the interior awkward. The proprietor was incredibly welcoming and friendly, but this picky beer drinker is looking for more, in terms of beer and in terms of ambiance / mood.

This is one of the best spots for beer lovers that happen to find themselves in Rome. There are always about 20 crafts beers on tap, and they also have a selection of bottles and home-made bourbon and gin. The place serves 'customised' burgers and fries, too. The staff is usually very nice, helpful and willing to let you taste the beers before your final order. Not to mention the background music: awesome rock tracks are constantly played (and sometimes the staff accept musical requests!). If you are from Rome, if you live in Rome, or even if you are just visiting for a few days and you love beer, you MUST come to 4:20. Satisfaction guaranteed.

really appreciate the selection of handcrafted beers. look pretty good. food it's ok. not good the many different beers measures. and also the prices of it. there was light beers much expensive than strong ones. a lot of gnats over the beer taps, maybe caused by the branch of hop above it.

The staff was attentive and the ambiance was unique, however the beer and food were disappointing and overpriced. The burger was very undercooked and the bun was stale. We are american so our expectations for beer and burgers may be different than for Europeans.

Great place for a craft beer west of the river. Had the chips to eat with the Chipotle aoli Delicious. If you're looking for American food made well this is a solid spot. They take the food almost as seriously as their beer

Best boozer in town for my money. They do loads of great beer and whiskey, food is great and good value and there's a really friendly atmosphere. terrace is great in the warmer months

Yelp
You must visit this place if you're a craft beer lover. They have a nice selection of Italian craft beers on tap. In addition they have a great bottle selection. Chris, the manager, speaks excellent English and he turned me onto a Belgian sour beer that had been aged over 10 years and was mindblowingly good! I also had a burger on my second visit and it was very tasty. Make sure to order your food and drinks at the bar because there's no table service.

Yelp
Missed it by one day... Continuing on my quest to eat non-Italian food in Italy (I'd been on a pasta bender and needed to get off for a little while), I found Brasserie 4:20. Beyond being impressed that the craft beer/burger scene in Rome resembled what it was in the States, I was shocked to find Roman bros. America, we have to do better at our exports. Alas, it's true. There are Roman bros and they congregate and work here. So, guys just be aware that if you come here, you service will come after any cute thing in a skirt that wants food/drink/whatever. The music is bro-y. The vibe is bro-y. It's a bro bar. That said, they have some good things to offer. Beyond connecting with bros from another continent, you come here for beer & burgers (and rock music and brownies but mostly beer & burgers). Despite not being much of a burger guy, I figured that 'when in Rome...'* Thing is, this burger didn't taste much like a lot of the ones I'd had back home. I ordered the angus burger with cheese, onions and pickle. The first thing I noticed was that the meat tasted much better than most of the burgers I'd had in the States. I don't know whether this was because of the angus beef or because we're not getting the real deal in the States. I'd had angus beef before. It didn't taste this good. Had I eaten beef like this regularly, I don't know that I could have given it up as easily. All this is to say that the beef wasn't as seasoned as it could have been. Salt & pepper before it's grilled, boys. That's all you need. Good quality beef. Needed more seasoning. To accompany my burger, I tried two beers: the Royal Brown and the Terzo Tempo. I don't know if styles change from country to country but I found the brown to taste more like a stout and my cream ale was REALLY light. This isn't to say that I didn't enjoy drinking them (well, the cream ale was a bit of a disappointment) but they provided a different taste profile than I was anticipating. I experienced all of this while sitting at the bar (the perfect vantage point, in my opinion). If in Rome and in need of a pasta/pizza break, head to 4:20. The bro vibe is real but such could/should be expected when eating angus beef burgers and drinking craft beer. *I told you it would be used more than once. I told you.

Yelp
It's a very good selection of beers but the bar service is pretty slow. I am sat here listening to the bar staff chatting away whilst my beer sits forlornly on the counter waiting to be introduced to me. In all fairness the ladies they are fawning over are cute but the place has about 10 customers so it shouldn't be that hard to get a beer to a customer. Saying that the place is worth a try if you are in the area and fancy a beer. It's my second visit and it's pretty good beer but I've never eaten here.

Yelp
They have a great selection of American beer. If you are looking for IPA's this is the place to go! The food looked good, they had some good looking French fries. The beers are kind of expensive, they are about 5 -6euros each! The food is also very expensive. The bartenders were really nice as well.

Yelp
Found this neat little spot while in Rome over Christmas. Good food, fun atmosphere and amazing selection of home brew. I am not a beer guy, but they some wonderful ale. Worth finding for a break from the tourist rush of the day.

Yelp
Slip into this spot if you're looking for a selection of local Italian microbrews and a little bit of pub food. I'll havta say, my review of this place is influenced by the fact that they apparently used to have a menu focused on integrating beer into the food. That menu has since been replaced by their take on "American street food" which means build your own burger. Most of the beers had that light, homebrew-y taste that doesn't live up to the expectations I have for craft beer. It's an experience for sure, but not one I'd say you have to seek out.

Yelp
A great brewpub in a gritty neighborhood. I had a great time there and recommend the experience. For food, stop next door at The Smoke Ring for one of the best pulled pork sandwiches I've ever had (owned by the same owner/microbrewer as 4:20) and finish at 4:20. All in all, one of favorite food experiences, and a great place to get a burger. Make sure you throw in the extra bacon and cheese on the smoked burgers, because it's worth it! The steakhouse fries are huge, so be ready to share, and try their different fry toppings.

Yelp
Burgers and fries, on point! Good beer selection, chill vibes. The service was very DIY, you could literally walk out without paying. Understaffed restaurant but thats the norm in Rome from my experience. At least the food is good and staff was friendly. Service could be a lot better which will be a win win for customers and management. We would have ordered a lot more €€€ if we didn't have to walk to the bar for a refill.

Yelp
Brasserie 4:20 is pretty high end looking, pretty posh inside and complete with an expansive roof deck that has Cigar City, Lost Abbey, and other American rarities on tap. Bottom floor has tons of random micro brews leaning towards import craft. Lambic vintage list is stellar with some ultra rare bottles for sale at what may seem a high markup, but really is very reasonable. Food was very good though I did not eat dinner there, just sandwiches and snacks. The only thing I dislike about 4:20 is that it is a bit offset from most night spots in Rome. You have to walk down Via Portuense, which at night after Sunday market looks like a trash wasteland. After passing door after door of closed up doors that house market vendors, you find yourself at a black garage door panel labeled "4:20" in green, digital clock font. It's a little surreal. Good thing about 4:20 is that it is open until 4am! So make this your last bar of the evening before probably wanting to find a cab home.
