Brasserie Bodu

Standard French fare near touristy spots. The meat was wonderful but the seafood could really use some work. Felt freshly thawed at some parts. It’s also quite pricy, as par for the course for food in Switzerland. The escargot was also too cooked and didn’t felt fresh but the lamb and duck were excellent.

Lovely French restaurant in the heart of Lucerne, food was authentic, had great taste and presentation. Service was excellent, we left feeling full and satisfied. Could get some dishes as starters or as mains. Slightly confused about the entrance of the restaurant though …

Must visit when coming to Luzern. It’s a perfect place where France meets Switzerland. The staff were really friendly and helpful giving recommendations. The food was on another level. Order the entrecote with fries and you evening will be amazing.

Excellent food in an authentic French bistro atmosphere. We felt like we were in Paris and waiting for Renoir to join us. It’s the first time in a long time we’ve had lunch by candlelight. The cod was flavorful. Very elegant!

What a cute and beautiful restaurant. I thought the steak with garlic butter and frites was amazing. The coq au vin was delicious as well as the mussels♥️ Would definitely be back!

I had a fantastic meal at Brasserie Bodu. The mussels were fantastic and the oysters were fresh. The wine paired wonderfully. My server, Astrid, was attentive and charming. It was a great experience!

It's a very lovely place with friendly staff and delicious food... I was especially delighted by the complimentary mixed olives. A big thank you to Nicole and Jason, who went to great lengths to set up our table, for their kindness and hospitality.

Beautiful and cozy place to share a meal and enjoy a chat. Warm and romantic setting dining to a bit of candlelight. Superb food and plenty of beverage options. We had the special midday. Delicious duck with potato pasta and red cabbage. Almost gone and I took a picture. lol. Fried perch with boil potatoes and fresh creamed spinach. Both plates fresh ingredients and excellent flavor. Server was very nice caring to all her customers. Not a place to rush but rather to savor.

This restaurant is very hot or miss (at best) with the food and service - while a few years ago it was in the Michelin guide I think it has dropped off significantly and I would not recommend. Atmosphere is nice with ideal tables out on the balcony, and additional tables in the square with glimpses of the river. Some live music for those on the square. We appreciated the kids coloring sheets and colored pencils as a nice touch. The service was pretty slow - after being seated we waited over 20 minutes for menus alone. After ordering drinks took awhile but then food quickly followed. The food was not great, and didn't always follow what was listed on the menu. The Salade Nicoise was tasty with great fresh tuna and a warm salad of potato and green beans. However, the cordon bleu which we got to share between my husband and one kid was terrible! It had soggy frozen vegetables as a side and a cordon bleu that seemed mass produced, what an embarrassment especially at 46 CHF! Then the lemon ricotta ravioli was anything but - the menu said it had burrata, lemon and mint and instead it was a bland cream disaster with arugula on top. Absolutely no lemon or mint flavor whatsoever. We mentioned to the server that we were disappointed with the food and her response was "oh" and that was it.

4.7/5 This restaurant is so charming and romantic that just draws you in the mood. The staffs were really friendly. We had the Seafood Bouillabaisse and Porcini Tagliatelle and both are delicious delicious delicious! So glad we came here during our only night in Lucerne. Next time would really love to sit at the little balcony!

Amazing place with amazing food situated in the heart of old town Lucerne . A true French feel, almost a little bit too much - the bar area allows you to smoke inside and is separated by a door from the restaurant but the smoke still permeates into the restaurant. Sole reason for 4 stars is the smoke. It smells like smoke and makes the clothes you're wearing smell like smoke until you wash them - which is not good if you're traveling. If. Or for the smoke I would give them 5 stars because their food, wine selection, and service were great.

Hot if you sit in the sun. Make reservations, request shade if sitting outside. Delish pate, and a combination seafood in a fabulous light lemony cream sauce. Recommended by our waiter at the 150 wines bar. Ok service, but great food

I like Bodu, I would even say that it is one of my favorite restaurants in Luzern. However, I cannot claim it is perfect, I find the service a hit and miss, depending where you are seated and the inside is a bit outdated and feels like a tourist trap. But sometimes good food is all you want and Bodu does French brasserie food in the right way. I love Paris and have been many many times and it is hard to find French brasserie style food outside of France. Their steak frites is fantastic, it rivals the better known places in Paris and is certainly the reason I tend to go back. However, every time I have ventured to another dish, I've always been rewarded with great food. And shall I add something controversial? I find the prices more than reasonable. I know that many online reviews claim it is expensive but good quality comes at a price and this is Switzerland, things are more expensive here! I reckon most of these reviews are tourists (which is another con, too many tourists). So-so service? Stereotypical interior? Tourists? Yes, yes, yes... but the quality of the food compensates so YES I will return!

Typical French cuisine and experience. Nothing amazing but very solid. The seafood soup I had was the best and the parpadelle could use some work. Dinner * Seafood soup (Excellent) * Lamb chops (Good) * Parpadelle (Ok)

Really cool French restaurant in old town. Great ambiance, kind of dark and old fashioned. Good service. Good food. Escargot and French onion soup were excellent. Coffee was really good. Enjoyed eating, drinking wine and just hanging out. Would definitely go back. One of the better places we ate in Switzerland.

We had a lovely lunch sitting on the balcony overlooking the water. I am so glad we read the Yelp reviews! The service was attentive and pleasant and the food was perfect for a warm afternoon- chilled vichyssoise with Goat Cheese salad and gazpacho with quiche Lorraine. I've posted the pictures and they were as flavorful as they were attractive. I had never had warm goat cheese on toasted French bread - it was amazing!

My best restaurant memory ever was happening upon Bodu. I have stopped there for lunch or dinner every single time I've been in the city. The food and service is amazing! There's something about the atmosphere that is magical. I can't explain it. It is one of the happier places I've been to.

Great little place, just off the second row. We got lucky and scored a table on the veranda (without a reservation). The veranda looks out over the water. My wife and I both had the Monkfish over Ratatouille. It was wonderful. Very much recommend this place. We are from the US and it was great that Yelp helped us find this gem. PS. Came back two days later. Excellent! And they stayed open late for us :)

Michelin starred Brasserie in the heart of Luzerne's old town. Reservations are encouraged, but arrive for lunch at 11:30 and you should be fine. The "downstairs" dining area is non-smoking; updtairs by the bar is a smoking area and there will be smoke. Quiche Lirraine starter w 2 lunch specials and 2 glasses of wine came in under 100 Euros. Everything was how itvis supposed to be.

So let's get to the point...everything in Lucerne is expensive! Try this place! The front is one street behind the river. But you go through and the dining room faces the river! There is a terrace over the river. We got a window seat in dining room. They specialize in fish. I got the special Cous Cous del mar which turned out to be mine of my top 3 meals in two weeks of Europe. Family of 3 was 200 but with bottle of wine and desert this might be considered a bargain.

It is impossible for me NOT to visit the Brasserie two or three times, while visiting my native Lucerne. The food is outstanding and it's service consistently very attentive. EP

Happened on this spot by accident, but noted it was mentioned in the Michelin guide. We were so glad we sat down. We dined al fresco on the patio. Our seating was in the square, up the stairs from the river and Chapel Bridge, not a direct view but still very pleasant. I ordered the steak frites and it was prepared medium almost medium rare but very tender and the butter sauce was delicious. We were also served the veal which was tender and well prepared. Good service, good food, good location.

Fantastic food- real French dishes that leave you satisfied. Service was excellent. We had escargot, salad (with some delicious white dressing), followed by the salmon and dear dishes and recommended basic red. Highly recommend!

Fresh good food. Ample portions. Husband had filet of sole. He loved it. I had homemade ravioli w ricotta cheese and fresh spinach served w artichokes. Wonderbar! Wish I would have taken a picture of the salads. I had a salad w goat cheese and olive tampanade. Very very good.

Brasserie Bordu is in a Beautiful atmospheric building in the Altstadt near the ancient town hall and as the name suggests, this is a very french "bistro". The tables are on the small side set very close together so not much elbow space.. There were four of us on a small table so very "cosy" not just between us but also with the next table very close to us and so on.. But the atmosphere is great and the food is wonderful .. This is French Bistro cuisine done very well. I had the duck terrine "Marbret de Canard"with Foie Gras, autumn mushrooms and it came served with a Mango chutney, a small salad and toasted Brioche. Delicious! My companions chose the french onion soup and the lobster bisque! All of us chose the house signature dish is the Entrecote steak smothered in garlic butter and matchstick french fries spilling all over the plate. The steak is oh so tender and almost melts in your mouth and is served with a veritable mound of matchstick fries. We all managed to devour the steak but were defeated by the "frites"! There was absolutely no room for dessert but amongst us we did variously opt for raspberry and williams pear schnapps plus a wonderful cognac which aided digestion and we all walked out into the crisp night air very content. I should mention too that the staff are very friendly and professional.

Few experiences can surpass an evening on the terrace of Brasserie Bodu overlooking the Reuss river as it flows into Lake Luzern. It's a lovely, restaurant with friendly staff and an unhurried yet lively atmosphere. The menu isn't extensive, and it shouldn't be. Each selection is seems extraordinary and the biggest challenge of an evening here is finally choosing your meal. Be assured you can't make a bad decision.

Decadence and perfection served on a picturesque patio above the quaint town of Luzern. A gem in Switzerland!

Great ambiance and true French feel. Great balcony view slightly removed from busy waterside strip of restaurants, hence less busy. Bit pricey but good food and good service.

What the other reviews said, but an interesting feature is that most of the appetizers and the main dishes come in two sizes. We shared one of the large sizes, which was a huge chunk of turbot. That and a small appetizer for each of us was more than enough. Wine by the glass is reasonably priced.

Great dinner on the balcony overlooking the water. We had vegetarian eggplant and chicken stuffed with sage. Both were very good. Waitress was multi lingual and had a little attitude. Very expensive but very good.
