How We Spent Our Family Vacation: A Kid-Friendly Ski Trip in the French Alps | Condé Nast Traveler

"In Courchevel, this brasserie won us over with its steak and Hugo spritz, which we really loved. The meal added yet another flavor to the trip’s culinary palette and showed us that even within a relatively compact ski region, each village can offer its own distinct dining personality." - Jordi Lippe-McGraw

Stopped here for lunch while skiing. The Google Maps pics made it look a bit more polished than it actually is. The patio view is gorgeous, but it was too cold once the sun started dropping so we ate inside. Interior was fine for a slope-side stop, just not quite as nice as the photos suggest. The crew was clearly slammed at lunch — everyone was hustling and juggling a lot of tables. They were friendly, just seemed a bit understaffed for the rush. Food was decent. We had two pizzas and both were pretty good, though a little on the heavy-cheese side (probably a French thing). Espresso and cappuccino were excellent though, which definitely helped end the meal on a high note.

Best steak I’ve had in years. Cook it yourself outside to keep it hot & cooked to your liking. Friendly and helpful staff. Incredible views. Tartiflet was amazing too!

Great place with a great design, location and atmosphere. However, the signature Courcheneige pizza was absolutely marvelous - highly recommended. Super friendly pizzaiolo is the top guy.

The restaurant, which advertises itself as a pizza and steakhouse, refused to serve my kids pizza. They claimed there was a separate area for pizza, something we were never informed of and which wasn’t the case in previous years. Meanwhile, the table right next to us had pizza, yet the manager was adamant that our child couldn’t order one. An absolutely ridiculous policy that left us with very unhappy kids.

Review of De Laroche I had high expectations for De Laroche based on its charming appearance from the slopes, but my visit turned out to be extremely disappointing. What seemed like a cozy and respectable place was, in reality, a chaotic and poorly managed establishment. First, we waited 20 minutes just for a waiter to take our order. When they finally did, instead of the hot wine I ordered, I was served plain hot water. My son requested hot chocolate, and while the waiter assured us it was coming, it never arrived. When it was time to settle the bill, I was shocked to see the missing hot chocolate and hot wine too included, along with a charge for a Large Caesar salad when I had clearly ordered a Medium. The waiter insisted I had been served a Large salad, but I never ordered that size. Why should I pay more for their mistake? To make matters worse, the wait for the food was unbearable—40 minutes—and the dining area was freezing. I felt like I was freezing to death by the time our order arrived. The poor service, incorrect orders, and lack of attention to detail ruined what should have been an enjoyable experience. I absolutely do not recommend De Laroche. Save yourself the frustration and find a better place to dine.

Have been there before and it used to be good; not sure what happened today. It was difficult to get someone to take our orders, and after 1 hours and 15 minutes after we have ordered, first meals arrived. But we were in 5 and only 2 meals arrived. It was definitely not our plan to spend the afternoon in the restaurant.... they ruined our afternoon ski. Never again.

The menu compared to other restaurants on the resort is quite basic, and the food is not bad but not great either. The view is beautiful though, and when sunny you get to enjoy their terrasse and the good music from the next door burger joint. Prices are high, as expected in Courchevel.

Great atmosphere accompanied by a nice view and very good food. Staff is very welcoming, we were served by Melina which was very pleasant
