Sadly, the mussels spoiled an otherwise good meal. A real shame, as I was looking forward to them. Given the unacceptably poor quality of the main (which I didn’t finish) I can’t give more than a 2 based on this experience. Negatives: Mussels: I ordered the large pot. While the sauce was tasty (perfect for dipping bread) the quality of the mussels was very poor. Many were extremely small, some no larger than a pea, which meant there was little flavour or texture to enjoy. The sauce and accompanying vegetables ended up overpowering what little mussel meat there was. Positives: Atmosphere: The restaurant had a lovely, warm ambiance (neither too noisy nor too quiet). Indoor seating was cozy, and there’s also outdoor seating available, weather permitting. Service: My waiter was very friendly and attentive. He had a lovely personality and you could tell he cared. However, I would have appreciated a small gesture of goodwill, especially since the muscles were very poor quality. If you order something else I’m sure you’ll have a good experience Beef Tartare: This was a standout dish - flavorful, well-prepared, and something I’d definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful lunch here on July 26th. We initially tried to have dinner at the restaurant the night before but they were fully booked and the ladies at the front asked if we would like to book in for the following day to which we agreed. We were not disappointed. We had the Bone marrow for our starters which was just amazing. The mains were also fantastic and were well present. The brasserie tends to get very busy but their staff are excellent. They do not fold under the pressure. A very pleasurable dining experience which deserves a repeat.

We were very happy with the moules frites. We didnt think they were too small, apparently it’s a different kind of moules, which are a smaller. The broth was delicious. The fries were very tasty aswell. I espetially enjoyed the bone marrow. It was delicous! The Service was kind and and skilled. Definatly recommended.

Google
✅ Food was excellent, waiteress was very kind, restaurant is well located. I recommend : - artichaut + 3 sauces (en entrée) - magret de canard + frites - moules (300g suffit, we took 500g) + frites - coquilles saint jacques + riz - entrecôte de bœuf + purée ❌ Waiter got impatient after several failed payments with Twint. Another customer tried with mastercard, same failures (machine kept loading). It took us 6 attempts before he decided to take another machine which went through.

I had an incredible dining experience at Lipp. The atmosphere was cozy and elegant, with warm lighting and tasteful decor. The food was outstanding—every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the staff made us feel truly welcome. I highly recommend this place for a memorable evening. C’était magnifique !

Google
Lovely environment, fantastic professional service, great food, and excellent value! The oysters were fresh and delicious. The onion soup lacked enough cheese on top, but it was forgivable because the main dish was absolutely perfect! Be sure to save some room for dessert, as they offer some of the best options around. The lamb shank was massive—enough to share—and the wine pairing with the meat was spot-on. Highly recommend going and enjoying this experience!

Google

Google
Usually service is also very good, and efficient. But this time not really. I arrived 13.22 for my 13.30 reservation. I was given a table at 14.11, almost after 1 hour waiting. I was not only one, but I was certainly overlooked badly as people who arrived later than me got a table before me. So trick was: complain and complain and they service you. My bad was that I was politely waiting my turn, and yes, jumped over. Seafood platter was good, nothing amazing. Mussels were delicious. Atmosphere very pleasant and vibrant.

Yelp
My family and I love French food, and our concierge recommended this spot. We ordered the bone marrow, escargot, duck leg, mussels pot, sausage, and sorbet as dessert. I thought it was pretty cute how they'd keep the fries and other dishes warm with candle holders on the bottom. The food was solid, and their waiters are friendly. Would def return!

Yelp
We had souris d'agneau (slow cooked, incredibly tender lamb) with potatoes and mushrooms. It was wonderful! Service was excellent too.

Yelp
We were confused when speaking to the hostess about our reservation. Turns out the person who made it reserved the correct time, but for another country. The restaurant did scramble to get us in that night. It was a little tight inside, but well worth it. The head of our party ordered 2 dozen oysters. He claimed they were the best and I would have to agree. For my main, I got the Milanaise Revisited in Elephant Ear. Don't worry it's not really an elephant, but flattened veal breaded and fried to perfection. It was wonderful especially with some crispy fries. I did get to enjoy the Candied Irish Lamb Shank. It comes in a large pot and I swear it feeds at least 2 people. The savory thyme reduction was decadent and the potato with porcini mushrooms made this a heavy, but wonderful dish. I wish I had the stomach to eat it all.

Yelp
Great fresh seafood and service. The mussels sauce is to die for I wanted a bottle to take home. Great wine selection and prices. Scottish salmon cooked on point but large portions so I would definitely get the mussels and maybe share a main course.

Yelp
I have been to Brasserie Lipp many times and it almost never disappoints. Meat, fish, veg are always well prepared and delicious. The interior is pleasant, and the staff are very professional. The only time you may find that it is not up to par is on a Fri or Sat night when it is packed to the maximum and the staff can be overwhelmed but not because of the food. It is consistently good and would suggest you make a reservation on your next visit to Geneva.

Yelp
Arrived here for a late lunch and sat inside. They were busy but prompt. Great atmosphere, delicious food and reasonable portions Friendly servers. Good prices. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Geneva

Yelp
We were lucky to get a table here! 8:30 on a Monday evening and the place was hopping with contented couples and celebratory business diners. All I can say is order the Moule Frites! The broth is heavenly, and the portions generous. The pumpkin ravioli was sweet and perfectly tender; the Irish lamb shank was incredible, sweet, complex, and fell right off the bone. The whole staff, while still French in attitude, was swift, friendly, accommodating, kind, and impeccable. We were sad that this was our last night in Geneva -- we will certainly return here on our next visit, and bring our family and friends!

Yelp
Amazing food and excellent service! I had the Salmon dish and floating island desert.

Yelp
Excellent service! We got: Caesar salad, Bone marrow casserole, Pistachio sausage w green lentils, Lamb shank Veal liver Venetian style Everything was superb and in generous portions. Here's what my beau says about his dish: Veal liver = the best liver dish I have ever had. Perfect. Can't think of any way to make it better. Outer is seared, inner is pink

Yelp
I've lunched at Lipp twice now and find they have incredibly fresh seafood and interesting Swiss, French and German influenced dishes. I would certainly recommend it for a business lunch. It's relatively expensive, but just about everything in Geneva tilts toward the expensive side. The service is prompt. Not exactly brusque, but perhaps not so indulgent as to spend much time explaining the dishes in detail. The staff speaks both English and French as most of the service industry in the city. In two outings, I can say I would happily return for a third round.

Yelp
A fantastic French Brasserie with all that comes with it. Great seafood and meat. Expensive but totally worth it.

Yelp
This place was recommended to us by many people in Geneva. We were lucky enough to secure an outside table on a beautiful evening. It was the perfect way to end our Geneva trip. The wine list has a nice variety, so we ordered Bordeaux blend with dinner and it was great. We had enjoyed happy hour before arriving. So, we only ordered mussels for an appetizer. The mussels were served in a delicious broth and were cooked to perfection. The bread provided to us was perfect to dip into the broth. For our meals, I ordered the white fish, which was cooked to my liking and served with just the right amount of lemon. Other entrees ordered were duck breast, shrimp, and grilled beef filet. The shrimp were whole, so my friend didn't really enjoy removing the head and tail of each shrimp. Everything was very flavorful and presented well. The sides were warmed using tea lights, which was a nice touch. The portions provided just the right amount of food, leaving you feeling satisfied. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate cake. It was warm, gooey, and delicious! My husband ordered a Mille-Feuille dessert, which he devoured. The pastry cream between the layers was great! As stated by other reviewers, the restaurant is a little pricey. But, the service and quality of the food warrant the price. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone in the area.

Yelp
Super spot for seafood. Expansive restaurant with reasonable prices, good service, and good food. The cold appetizer seafood platter was a lot of fun and the oysters on the half shell were delicious. Note that this place is on the second floor inside the shopping plaza, and not really signed from the street... wasn't intuitive finding it.

Yelp
By far one of my favorite places to eat in Geneva. The service is great, the food is excellent, and the wine is amazing. Had dinner here three of the six nights I was in Geneva. By far the best dish is the quenelle. The quenelle sauce is so savory. Finished every meal with the Coup Williams, which is a Pear Sorbet with Pear Schnapps poured over the top. Best to book reservations.

Yelp
Excellent restaurant! Love everything about this restaurant. From the food, service, decor and location its all top notch. The only one dish that keep it from a five star in my book was the steak which was a bit tough for my liking. Not really sure if that's how premium steaks are served in this part of the world but I'm used to tender, juicy steaks. The seasoning on the steak is superb which brings the question whether the toughness of the steak was intentional or not. Like I said everything else is perfect.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I ordered 800 grams of mussels for 40 chf. The wait staff happily continued to bring more bread as we needed it. The mussels were the best I've ever eaten! They were boiling in a white wine cheese sauce that was the most delicious I've ever tasted! I can't even explain... they were so good. 80 grams was more than enough for us, and they were awesome and set up a stand with a fire underneath so the muscles were constantly hot. oh my gosh. I wish I could give them 10 stars alone for their mussels. They were SO GOOD. I admit other things on the menu are over priced, but I'd come back every week for those mussels. Holy crap. So good.

Yelp
Casual and friendly restaurant that is equally wonderful for a large party of 12 and small intimate meet ups. The servers are generous with their suggestions and efficient with the service. Portions are generous, our order of the mussels pot for two was large enough to feed four. The seafood platter is fresh and delicious. Our wine glasses were always refilled as well as our water. Wonderful ambience. A fabulous place to wind down after a long day of meetings.

Yelp
Delicious food and so many choices. I was blown away by this restaurant. I didn't expect to be so impressed. Great food. Great selection. Great variety. Great service. Classy clientele. Great location in an upscale area in the center of town. I had the escargot as a shared appetizer. Delicious. Classic. Traditional escargot and exceptionally scrumptious. I was dipping bread into the remaining sauce bc it was just too good. I also shared a tuna sashimi appetizer. Of all of our meal selections, this was my least favorite. They attempted to overdo the seasoning. It might have just been better as simple tuna with soy. I wouldn't order this again. I ordered the scallop entrée. Absolutely exceptional. Fresh. Perfectly cooked. My only complaint is that I could have eaten more ;) I believe it came with five smaller sized scallops. My table also ordered the lamb dish. I was told it was exceptional and the meat fell off the bone. It arrived in a covered metal pot. Neat presentation. For dessert I had the meringue floating islands with caramel. OMG. Delicious. Unique. Just thinking of it again now is making my mouth water. Only cons: 1. Nowhere to hang out and have a cocktail before dinner. 2. So popular that you cannot walk in without a reservation. 3. Very expensive (appetizers were $25 and entrées were $45-- on average). I would recommend this spot to anyone visiting Geneva. Very impressed.

Yelp
Quality French dining. Good local dishes. Nice atmosphere with outdoor seating. Certainly worth a visit, as it's touted as being a local favorite. A little pricey, but decent service and quality food which is well-prepared. Busy lunchtime place.

Yelp
I ordered the veal Milanese and it was the absolute best veal I have ever had! Trendy ambiance restaurant and beautiful decor, we were seated in the terrace, it was a bit warm with the heaters but comfortable for dinner. The oyster appetizer was perfectly prepared!

Yelp
OOOoooh lala... the food here was exceptional. The prices were scary. Brasserie Lipp is a high end dining restaurant, just plan on spending A LOT. Take your "no foreign fee" credit card with you. The quality of the food at Lipp is outstanding. Reservations are recommended, take a chance if you're in the area like I did, they got me right in for lunch. Note: When the waiter brought the check, immediately he asked for a nice tip. For a classy joint I was a little put out by that. His overall demeanor as a waiter was not good and the service he should have provided should have been better, he wanted to make sure foreigners leave a good tip.
google avatar

Maria R.

Yelp
Although it was sold as a French brasserie on Yelp, they were a Swiss food purveyor. Oysters were outstanding and highly recommended. The food was good, I had rock fish soup (waiter told me to order smaller portion thank god).Hubby had pork cheek sausage thing, was wonderful. Missing a star for ambiance. It's in a mall. What can I say?
google avatar

Janet R.

Yelp
I definitely enjoyed my meal here, although I didn't love the atmosphere. i was seated in one of the outer rooms, which was pretty drafty, and had some sort of high tech cigarette machine next to my table which didn't really add to the ambiance. if I'm paying that much for a meal, I'd rather not be sitting next to a vending machine! in any case, the soupe de poissons was fabulous. I also had a choucroute which was maybe not the best choice after enjoying every last drop of the soup... But it was nicely prepared. The waiter was also really nice, attentive and gave me a great wine recommendation.

William C.

Yelp
This is my must visit restaurant when I travel to Geneva. The atmosphere is very casual and the staff are very friendly although their English is limited (not unusual in Geneva)- that does not detract from the experience. The mussels are to die for and are always fresh and beautifully prepared and presented. Make sure to book to avoid disappointment.
google avatar

Ahmed S.

Yelp
Amazing food at a great price Won't find a better value for the money In the beginning it might look expensive but the portions are huge and the quality is astonishing. We ordered 4 dishes off the gourmet choices of the day menu which is available only in French All four have been outstanding I'll get on a flight to visit this place again
google avatar

Sally-Ann T.

Yelp
Had a great family lunch here this week. All 3 generations were very satisfied. We had choucroute, duck, a burger and salmon tartare and all were delicious. Our waitress was wonderful even though it was quite late in the lunch hour we were well looked after. Definitely recommend to book the terrace in summer.
google avatar

Yelp
Relative to other Geneva restaurants this is a pretty good spot. During the holidays, they have a gorgeous Christmas decorations in one of their dining rooms which you can request to be seated in if you call 3-4 days in advance. Overall the restaurant, which is HUGE, was a perfect spot for a dinner with friends. They are open late, serving until 2am, and feature a menu so lengthy that anyone can find something. The mussels looked delicious, the oysters were phenomenal and the duck was exactly as you'd hope from a Parisian bistro restaurant. The only reason I'm giving this a 4 and not a 5 is the harsh bright lights, slower service, and the fact that the fries were extra with the steak and the mussels.
google avatar

Yadira C.

Yelp
The only reason I don't give this place a 5 is the service was a little off, otherwise the food was spectacular. I had the pot of mussels (though I ordered the small pot they brought out the large) and it was spectacular. Mussels are served in a cream broth that was delicious and the fries were perfectly crisp. Both are put over burners to keep them from cooling down though the one under my mussels threatened to burn the place down. The waitress never came back by so I could order more wine and as I was a party of 1 (traveling alone for a conference) she seemed generally uninterested in me). She did make sure at the end to ask for a tip though and made a face when she saw what I gave her! (And tipping on top of the bill isn't even standard here!) given another waitress though, I'm sure this place would have been a 5.
google avatar

Josana I.

Yelp
It's not cheap but it's not the most expensive in Geneva either. For the quality of the service, food and the beautiful setting, this is definitely worth it. I love it for the seafood and the mussels. Please be aware if you want fries with your mussels you gotta pay separately and you must order it, unlike other restaurants where fries are always a side dish for mussels. I like going there when I feel like needing comfort food in a comfortable place. Their terrace both in summer and also in winter (they have heaters) is lovely and cozy, I usually prefer staying on the terrace as it's less busy than inside and tables aren't so close to each other.
google avatar

Clea K.

Yelp
Admittedly, I"ve only been there once and the food was very pricey, thus the low rating. They have excellent seafood though, and the location is very popular as it's in downtown, and you can sit inside and outside. Many of my friends really like it, so for good seafood you should definitely try it. I had a seafood chowder and salmon tartar, both very good taste- and quality-wise. I found the portions too small and the price too high to give it an excellent rating. There is a movie theater close by so one can combine dinner and movies in a very practical and fun way.
google avatar

Stephen K.

Yelp
Wonderful Brassiere whether you want traditional Swiss or just a burger. Fantastic mussels and great service.
google avatar

Alicia H.

Yelp
The food was terrific and the staff was very accommodating considering our party consisted of approximately 20 people and we arrived in waves. It's funny that a previous reviewer didn't like the large, bald waiter since he was my favorite. He offered to take a group picture for us and cracked jokes the entire time. If I'm ever in Geneva again, I'd definitely go back.
google avatar

Joshua A.

Yelp
Ate here twice while in Geneva. Everything was positively world class. The seafood dishes are the specialty, while the desserts are delightful. Gets pretty crowded because it's so popular, but you should definitely eat here if you get the chance. Also a great place to take your spouse or date.
google avatar

Tracey W.

Yelp
A superb restaurant with a good menu and atmosphere. The only downside is you really do have to book beforehand because its one of the few places that is open on Sundays and is popular with locals and tourists and close to the shops so is a good post shopping choice. Don't expect the service to be quick either-its always busy and its pricey. But the food quality is first class.

S R.

Yelp
This is what a french brasserie should be. Excellent value for great food and exceptional service. We had some appetizers then the mussels and vegetarian risotto. If I had another day here I would go back for more.
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
I read the reviews for this place and have to say that they were better than the place itself. I felt like it was just oo expensive in general. Geneva is expensive, but I felt ripped off here. I ordered a sampler degustation platter so I tried many things, but we paid way too much for mussels and a tiny plate of french fries, 12 CHF for a little US sized cup of soup, not to mention what we over paid for the fish. It was tasty but I guess I can eat much better for a lesser price in town so I wont go back here for sure. My waiter was very amusing and they gave us a crappy seat since we didnt have a reservation but the place was empty so I dont understand why we couldnt get a better seat....no one started to fill the place until we were on our way out.

Shal M.

Yelp
A Geneva institution - and well deserved. It's a Parisian bistrot with all the classics, and excellent Swiss quality added on top. I love the food, decor, the elegant service, and the more elegant clientele. It all comes at a price, and yet, it's a wonderful place to keep coming back to, with family and friends.
google avatar

AJ A.

Yelp
Classic, Vielle-Ville, non-stop kitchen noon- midnight. Of course it's expensive, a bit formal and cheekily pretentious, but if you think going out should be an occasion for a bit of restrained indulgence, Lipp is the place. Fresh seafood served comme il faut, and a range of seasonal, local specialties headline a menu that is varied but not overwhelming. It's French, and an offshoot, but its longevity, location and clientele give it an authentic Geneva feel. Reservations essential - they will usually scramble a table for you, but you will be sore if you find yourself on the periphery.
google avatar

Qype User (orvist…)

Yelp
Lipp is a favourite of mine in Geneva (I have also been to the one in Zurich) - its dependable although like many Swiss restaurants - pricey. The fish dishes are excellent with huge portions on the cous cous based specials. Their chocolate moelleux is amongst the best desserts I have ever had.
google avatar

Qype User (Lelesu…)

Yelp
simple, good can take anybody there... very comfortable and always good food and atmosphere. also nice in the summer on the terrace
google avatar

Qype User (Shoffm…)

Yelp
perfect for any lunch... business, family or a date. in the summer there is a nice terrace. nice food, nice people and best of all its in the center of town... p.s. one problem is parking.... :)

Howard L.

Yelp
The food was good. The wait staff was acceptable, except the large bald waiter. He suggested a La Poussie Sancerre Red 2008 when I told him I wanted to try a wine from the region nearby. The wine tasted like vinegar. I had him taste it. He said that's the way it should taste. I think he should have recognized the problem with wine and corrected it. He never did and we wasted a lot of money on an undrinkable wine.

Andy F.

Yelp
The seafood selection is unbelievable, but the place is expensive (even for Geneva). I did not enjoy the calamari/mussels appetizer, as I've had much better, but I tried a pretty good traditional meat platter for dinner, which included a tasty pistachio sausage, amazingly tender pork cheeks, a slab of bacon that I would take over a steak anyday, and a bratwurst that was unfortunately quite forgettable. Not a great beer selection, but tons of wine. But, for the price and upscale establishment, I'd expect all of the food to be great, not just some of it. The best parts of the restaurant were the outdoor patio and diverse menu.

Qype User (zougi…)

Yelp
Overpriced and oversized diner. Gigantic portions aren't meant to be consumed, they are to be priced. The only thing that is worth attention is highly professional service(five stars). Fish is overcooked, sometimes smelly. Salad dressings have nothing to do with French 'vinegret' fineness.
