Brasserie 't Oud Gasthuys

Hidden in an alley with a nice interior design and a welcoming atmosphere. The place is great for events too. As a group we decided to try it out and we went for their 3 course menu. We chose variety of appetizers and main courses from vegetarian to meat options. The food came with right presentation and right temperature. Appetizers such as fried cheese and shrimps and cheese plates were fine in general but nothing extraordinary. The main courses were alright but for instance the salmon lacked seasoning and came a bit cool not hot enough. The portions of the dishes were fine ofcourse but overall lack of seasoning was felt to some degree by all of us. As for the service we were ofcourse few people and as a busy restaurant we understood that we need to wait a bit but it took relatively long to order extra or even the drinks, perhaps more staffs are needed on busy nights. Overall we had a good experience and everything was alright but perhaps just one time a visit ti this place worth it.

Went here for a dinner date with my boyfriend. The restaurant is kind of hidden away in an alley right in the city center. The location is 10/10, the atmosphere is super warm and welcoming. Very cute and definitely adds to the experience. The staff was also incredible, even the new staff was very professional! When it comes to the food, we were a bit disappointed. The food was not bad, but the food doesn’t meet the standards of the atmosphere and location. It is way too expensive for the quality. I had the steak and my boyfriend had pork. It wasn’t bad, but everything around the meat was bland and didn’t add anything to the dish. We just got some lettuce on the side. My boyfriend picked bread to go with his pork, but this was the type of bread you would get as a starter, it wasn’t meant to go with the meat. I had fries, they were not bad but definitely did not meet the standards of the steak itself. For dinner we would not go back, but we are still considering to go for lunch to see how the menu differs!

Food is served indoors or in a delightful courtyard on fine days. Food was tasty and delicious beer is a given. The student waitress was friendly and made for a pleasant experience.

We had quite a large group, and we were doing a restaurant and city tour. This brasserie served our starters and later on in the evening, our dessert. The food was delicious and I wish we'd been able to have our main course here too. The staff was very kind and accommodating, especially considering that the company that arranged our tour didn't send our orders in advance for some reason. But they worked with us and offered some delicious alternatives. The white wines were quite good too!

Excellent ambient, in the heart of the city, but poor vegetarian options. Only a vegan Lasagna was available; vegan starter was prepared like meat. Not recommended for hard core vegetarians, but probably good for vegans. Drink was prepared well.

Everything was fine: the meal, the beers and service too. Only dutch menü was but the waitress was vers helpful and suggest fine meals.

Friendly owners in a quiet, artsy courtyard. Food was a delight and the beer selection spectacular.
