Brasserie zu Gutenberg / Potsdam

The food was very mediocre and overpriced. On top of that, the waiter showed his displeasure about the tip we left. There are much better choices in Potsdam overall.

Disappointing - it's just another place doing standard German food, but they charge 50% extra for no apparent reason. Highlight was the waiter trying to aggressively hustle me into leaving a tip for his robotic service. Avoid, there are loads of better places in Potsdam.

We were two couples eating there together. The service was polite, but it took almost an hour from ordering to receiving our food. Two had Wienerschnitzel and one had coq au vin, both dishes were tasty and well-prepared. The last of us had white fish with fresh asparagus, hollandaise sauce and white potatoes. Unfortunately, the fresh white asparagus turned out to be a huge disappointment. It had been cooked for far too long and had become soft and chewy. Too bad, because the fish was actually fine. We pointed this out and the waiter immediately admitted the mistake, and a little later he brought us an apology from the kitchen. It must also be said in fairness that the restaurant rectified the mistake by reducing the bill quite a bit.

Best Schnitzel I have had, very good price/quality ratio and also very friendly service which is uncommon for germany! A must go!

In the heart of Potsdam. This restaurant is simply amazing. The food is delicious, and it has the perfect size for a meal. The staff are very nice, and have attention to details. We have ordered the starter with king shrimps. It came with 5 king shrimps, with a delicious sauce, and bread with garlic. Also, the beef with smashed potatoes, and champignons sauce. It is a restaurant that is worth a visit. We are planning to go back to the city, and definitely this restaurant is on our lunch/dinner list to go again :)

I was only at the Restaurant, I got a schnitzel, pretty tasty, thick, but without air inside the fried part. French fries were also good. My girlfriend got cordon bleu, that was okay too. Meat was served with a creamy mushrooms plate, it felt industrial product, but it wasn't that bad. As side a camembert with jam sauce. Overall enjoyable. Red wine was good, I liked the selection of red offered. Waiter was nice person. I didn't like at the moment of paying to receive the receipt with the printed sentence "tip not included" highlighted with orange marker. Tip should not be begged, it's not by law and should be decided by the customers.

Food was good though the sauces were a tad bit salty to our liking. Service was great. We ordered corden bleu, coq au vin, meat platter and a couple more dishes that we didn’t managed to take pictures cause we were too hungry but they were amazing. Will definitely visit again if we go back!

I had a meal here with my friend. Food was pleasant enough with a nice view down the street if seated outside. Service was decent enough from one of our waiters, the other kind of mocked my friend when she requested no onions due to intolerances. Later when we got the bill, the same rude waiter came with the receipts and emphasised loudly to us that tip is not included. When we said ok we don't want to pay a tip, he kept acting ignorant saying "There isn't a tip included in this, you have to tell me how much" and kept pushing it. We ended up rounding up each of our amounts (split bill), with him scoffing and shaking his head the whole time, clearly pissed off. When he walked away a lovely German lady who overheard everything backed us up and told us that you do not have to pay a tip in Germany, don't listen to people like the waiter who do that. Felt so validated after that, and even more pissed at the waiter's attitude. Would not recommend

When I planned for a Potsdam trip months ago I didn't make a reservation at Der Butt thinking it would be easy to grab a table in the off season. I was wrong there, but we walked across the street to this chic brasserie and I knew we would still have a lovely time. It didn't hurt that we were meeting up with German friends so they were able to find out about a special where schnitzel was served with white asparagus. I had a lovely local white Riesling with my meal, and the baked camembert came with a perfectly hot and crisp crust cracking open to amazing gooey cheese inside that paired so well with a dollop of lingonberries. My boo and I split the schnitzel plate, and they even portioned it for two which I found so thoughtful of the staff. The white asparagus, which is rare and painstakingly cultivated, wasn't something I've ever had back in the States so that was definitely special. Never mind that the weather made visiting Sanssouci Palace something of a bust, this will be my best memory of Potsdam until I manage to visit again in the summer!

Cordon blue was fantastic. Staff was friendly and accommodating and could understand my terrible German. Easy walk from my hotel.

The reviews here captured this place well. Food and presentation is on par with Michelin quality. We came just before 1 pm on a Wednesday and it was pretty quiet. It was a slow leisurely lunch, which was fine with us as we had time. We got the Pork Schweineschnitzel "Brasserie" and Pork Croque Provence, and both were prepared well and priced fairly. We got out of here a bit before 3 pm with about 3 other parties present. Servers actually were quite cordial and spoke excellent English. aI get the feeling it was the European way of having a meal. I can only imagine how slow service could be if it was busy. Just don't eat here if you need to make your Sans Souci appointment within two hours.

En route to the palace I stumbled upon this small little restaurant. Inside the ambiance is reminiscent of the 30 or 40s tavern. The food was exquisite we tried the grilled chicken and pork with a side of mushrooms, which were incredible as well as all the potato sides. The sauces were rich and incredible. It's a great place for an early dinner though the outside parking and seating is limited.

After a day of wandering both Potsdam and Brandenburg we chose to return to Potsdam for dinner. Again a random choice of German restaurant on Yelp. Our food was delicious, but quite disappointed with the service. We told our waitress we were finished, then she moved on to take dessert orders from the table next to us. Brought their desserts, then coffees, then their bill and totally ignored us. My wife had to go inside and pay our bill at the bar. Despite that we left a €3 tip. Based on the food we would go again. Based on the service... never again. 5 stars for food and very pleasant outdoor seating. Minus 2 stars for atrocious service.

This was a great experience all over. The waitress were very nice, the food was delicious and well proportioned! Really recommend if you re in Potsdam. The plus was that it was open late

Refused to serve us as there were two children with two adults on a Sunday afternoon. Refused to get a manager then the cook and another waiter came and stood threateningly. I spoke fully in German so this was not a language issue. Awful people - stay away!!

Chose this restaurant out of the blue. What a fabulous meal! The Brasserie schnitzel was the best we have had since moving to Berlin, 9 months ago. Delicious soups and salads as well. Great location in Potsdam, beautiful ambiance and attentive service. Definitely will be bringing friends and family back to this wonderful find!

I would actually give this a 4.5. We ordered a pork cordon bleu with mashed potatoes and creamy mushrooms and a fillet steak with rosemary potatoes and tomatoes. They were both really really good. It was 50 euro, tip included, and we only had sparkled water. However, each plate was a big serving and we left with smiles on our faces. Ok service, they spoke some english and gave great recommendations. NOT a tourist trap. :)

Spacious sitting area inside the place and some nice sitting outside. Fish of the day was good, chicken breast was not good at all. We also got a pork dish which was ok. A little overpriced for what it is. The place is good for drinks:)

Really bad service. I have been sitting there for 15 mins and asked politely for order food but no one took it. Then after a long wait one waitress told me that I have to wait for 20 mins for food(only a few customers in their restaurant!). And they didn't mention this when I entered in. Really disappointed.

Wander away from the main strip of mediocre tourist fair and find yourself at this delicious and authentic restaurant. It serves hearty German dishes (think filling meaty dished, as well as lighter things like the tartines (flatbread like pizza). Outdoor seating is great in the summer. Service is meh but that's the norm in comparison to other cities. Much better than anything you find off the main road.

The menu combines French and German foods in a delicious way. I got the Cordon Bleu, which was basically Schnitzel Cordon Bleu. It was one of the most delicious meals I've ever had, and the ambience was nice and relaxed. Definitely a must!

Very good food and great service. The Cordon Bleu was enough for two! Loved the bar, great wine and beer selection, no complaints..
