Been to Brassica a number of times, both by myself and with friends and it has always been really good. Located on the Warrensville side of the Van Aken District next to the Food Gallery Brassica is a well executed upscale Mediterranean "Chipoltle style" set up.
You enter the restaurant and decide on a pita sandwich or salad and your choice of protein. You then go through the line adding on the items that you want. What really makes a difference is that all items are produced in house and cooked fresh so that no item sits very long. I usually go with the falafel either salad or pita and loaded it up with almost every item. The falafel is good, crunchy on the outside, green and with enough spice to make it interesting. The best of the side items included the nicely smokey baba ganouch, the grilled eggplant, all of the pickled items and the sauces. The portion size is generous so the value for your money is good. In addition the fries were excellent, crispy and tasty with Middle Eastern spices.
Drink choices include draft and canned beer, wine, craft sodas, and fresh pressed juices. I tried the blond lager draft and it was great, smooth and light.
Brassica also has paid attention to presentation, with metal rings used to present pita sandwiches standing up and wooden boards instead of trays adding to the feeling that this is more upscale then most similar places. The room itself is light and clean, with a nice patio set up out front.
Brassica is a great place that adds to the Van Aken District, which is quickly becoming one of the more exciting culinary destinations in the city. If you want high quality, tasty and healthy food at a reasonable price give Brassica a try.
