The pretzel with sour cream was the highlight as an American. Prices were fair, atmosphere above average. Caveat: I haven't experienced enough German restruants to really give an exact review, having said that, I don't think you could go wrong eating here.

My friend and I decided to do dinner at this brewery. They sell the special beer local to Bonn. I really liked it; it had a little lemony taste and was quite refreshing. I also got a dish with smoked salmon, horse radish, and latkes which was tasty. Our server was friendly and let us take our time.

This restaurant is very popular and usually a reservation is needed. They serve a large variety of German classics and comfort food. Taste wise, it isn't too bad. Service is quite good though.

Google
Best place for traditional fare in Bonn. Good value too.I had the pork knuckle mit sauerkraut, my companion the goulash mit red cabbage - both excellent. You certainly don't need a starter! Real buzz about the place too, all kinds - romantic couples, families playing games, solo visitors etc. Staff spoke confident English and highly efficient. I only tried the weissbier on draft, but it was lovely, with a lot of character. A bit less central than places that look similar from the outside, but well worth a few minutes extra walking!

Very good and hearty German food, with several local specialities. The beer was excellent too

Had a lovely Saturday lunch here with four adults and four children. Very family friendly. Had a fantastic waitress and the food was excellent. Great option in central Bonn for a bigger group and traditional German food.

Yelp
Great service but it gets busy, so order early and if you want them to keep coming back, ask them to come back often, else they leave you alone to enjoy. It's a typical European service style which I like a lot. I loved that they helped with allergy & gluten questions, and even modified my dish (which normally comes with pasta) to be workable for a gluten allergy. Atmosphere was very fun but we arrived at 5pm before the big holiday party groups filled up the place in the later evening. We had a great time!

Yelp
What a great spot! We sat outdoors and enjoyed a great meal, refreshing beer and fun people watching. The food was delicious. I had the burger and was surprised when I saw it was two burger patties with the cheese in the middle. Really really flavorful burger. My husband had the schnitzel (pork art) and that was also cooked to perfection. Our friend who is pescatarian had the veggie burger and it looked and tasted like a real meat burger. We all enjoyed our meals. The service was ok. They took our order and brought our food not too chatty

Yelp
Okay, so running summary is that German food is not my fave. We went here on our first night in Bonn and the menu was extensive. I settled on fish and chips, however, much to my chagrin, when I ordered the kellner informed me that they were out! I had to make a split second decision and picked the veggie burger. It was a standard, decent veggie burger, but what sets this one apart is that it was a monstrous double patty veggie burger (yay, actually)! They provided enough fresh produce on the burger that I turned it into a veggie burger salad and skipped most of the bread. The portions are huge here. Try the pretzel with a sour-creamish dipping sauce!

Yelp
While visiting Bonn, we sought out a highly recommended Resteraunt for good German fare. This was recommended to us. Upon entering, it was clear this was a busy place. The day behind the bar immediately recognized our unfamiliarity with the establishment and took the time to look after us. Speaking English, he asked us to wait 15 minutes and he would get us a table. So we did what most Germans would do, we had a beer! The unique glasses they served their brew in resemble "pistol gripped joysticks". I loved them. The kölsch beer was delicious- we had several We were seated and enjoyed a cheese plate appetizer followed by healthy sized potion of schnitzel- almost too much to finish. We could have shared a single serving. We are definitely coming back. When in Bonn, come here.

Yelp
good himmel und äd & beer, but painfully slow service; it took maybe 30 minutes to be able to place my order

Yelp
Stopped here for a bite to eat and a drink late evening. Really nice place, friendly staff, but found the place a little unusual. Was in a party of 5 and 3 of us including myself noticed something odd. I felt a hard push from behind while standing, but nobody was there when I checked. My colleague was spoken to in a whisper but on turning round nobody was there. Often we felt the air go icy cold momentarily. I would recommend the place but might be one for the ghost hunters to investigate.

Yelp
Perfect German bar and restaurant- the Kolsch beer is delicious and it's served in a glass that makes you think why isn't every glass like this. Suggestion : order 2 beers at first, you'll drink the first so quickly and you won't want to wait for your waiter to get the next. We ate Wiener schnitzel- they were done well and served with fries. Nothing was greasy and the cranberry sauce was a great accent to the schnitzels.

Yelp
Crappy service, rude. Waited for 15 minutes for a server then my friend got the stink eye when he asked for one to stop at our table. Was very dismissive when we politely asked him in English. Disappointing to say the least.

Yelp
A proper German drinking venue full of atmosphere and character, but surprisingly reasonable and friendly. There are quite a few political pictures on the wall (including Willy Brandt on some dodgems) celebrating the city's past. I asked for 'etwas helles' and got their staple beer, that everyone else seemed to be drinking (I was just trying to avoid their 13.2pc red beer that was the only one I could see clearly advertised). It was, to put it simply..delicious, and I had to stay for another, even though I didn't have a seat and the place was filling up nicely. The beer was served in these lovely unique crooked glasses (picture). I thought about taking one (you can buy them! Not theft) but figured I'd only end up breaking it later in the evening. Yelp
I had lunch here after roaming the streets of Bonn with some friends. With the pleasure of making new friends, I had the chance to enjoy some real German food. Unfortunately, I do not remember what half the food I consumed was called, but I do NOT have one complaint about this restaurant. It's clean, the service is great, and the food was really ethnic. ENJOY!

Yelp
This beautiful brauhaus is located at the heart of Bonn's old city. It was my first time eating here and I grabbed a quick lunch with my uncle. The decor is very beautiful and the ambiance has this very welcoming brauhaus feel that I've grown to love. The menu had an English version and I order the steak covered in "Bönnsch" sauce with a side of dumplings from the specials menu. The sauce / gravy was delicious and went great with the potato dumplings. The steak, not so much. The Bönnsch brew was fantastic. That alone should be a reason to visit and for me to go back again soon.

Yelp
Good food (traditional German and Bonner dishes), good beer (what else would you expect from a brewery?), and quick and friendly service on a central location in Bonn. Definitely worth a visit.

Yelp
If you ever find yourself in Bonn, this is the place to go. Try their beer...order 3 at a time, they're served in small joy stick shaped glasses and taste so good you'll finish one and be sad that you have to wait for a waiter to come by with another tray of these wonderful beers! Get the Schnitzel!

Yelp
This place is a must visit whilst in Bonn as it has great food and the place has a lot of character. The only issue is that the service is very slow because it gets so very busy on the weekend. If you have the time though- the food here is very good and so is the local Bonnsch beer. The place gets quite busy on the weekend so is good to make a reservation in advance. It's located centrally in Bonn and easy to get to if you are within the town centre. In terms of what we ordered- I had the tomato soup to start and the Kasespatzle for my main. Both were very good and recommend sharing the Kasespatzle as the portion so large. My husband had the halver hahn cheese starter and a sausage plate and commented that the wedges were amazing. All in all an enjoyable evening but we waited over 45 minutes for the bill because it was so busy.

Yelp
I haven't eaten here, so I can't rate on the quality of the food, but the Bönnsch brew is refreshing -- quite similar to a Kölsch, though. A 0.2L glass of Bönnsch was surprisingly affordable (even compared to the local biergartens) and it was fun drinking out of the uniquely-shaped glasses. The service was quick in serving us but very slow in bringing the bill (even for German standards). They have an all-you-can-eat schnitzel offer on Sundays, and I am told that their Flammkuchen (Alsatian pizza) is a bestseller.

Yelp
I was in town for the day and was looking for a place that serves flammekueche. This place came up on Google, so I checked it out. The service was quick, and the food came out hot and delicious. They were good about keeping my beer refilled as I ate. They have a few tables outside on the street, so if it's a nice day you can enjoy your beer and food while people watching and getting views of the old town. The only quibble is that they seemed to be a bit understaffed - a group came in shortly after I got my food, and so the service became was a lot slower for refills and getting the bill. There are no menus in English, but the waitstaff were happy to help me wrestle through the menu to figure out what I wanted to eat and drink. This seems to be a place where the locals come to eat, and I'll likely be back on my next trip to Bonn.

Yelp
Very good German food and the Beer is amazing. Just go in and get the first beer on the menu, it's delicious and very inexpensive. They have a ton of great options for food especially if you like meat. The staff is very friendly as well. Highly recommend especially if you're just in Bonn for a night or two.

Yelp
This is a great restaurant that offers some really delicious food and great drinks. The way the restaurant is decorated is right at the intersection of fine dining and small brewer. They have English menus, most of the waiters speak English, and they're willing to listen to someone butcher their language while trying to order something in German. I've come here a few times and once with a large group. Every time I've been the service has been very welcoming and friendly. The Bonnsch beer is made in the brewery itself and is very good - think of a strong hefeweizen with a great wheaty flavor. The food is equally delicious, affordable, and of high quality. I've been in Bonn for a short time but so far Bonnsch is my favorite restaurant in town and I haven't come across anything else to put in the running.

Yelp
Fun little take on Kolsch, the Bonsch. Funky glasses, good food and a lot of character

Yelp
Nicely done brauhaus: decor is very nice, menu is typical brauhaus with some upscale entrees. For our group, the beer brewed on the premises was polarizing. The pils beer was a little acrid and tart: some thought it was OK; others did not like it at all. The weizen (wheat) beer was smooth, slightly sweet (as weizen beers tend to be), and pleasant drinking. The outdoor seating is not available in the winter months.

Yelp
Never had good luck with the service here, despite trying on three occasions. Super slow. Almost impossible to get a refill. Food is ok, not great, and same for the beer. Perhaps required visiting for beer nerds seeking to support local business, but I wouldn't recommend it. Nice glassware though.
