Braunbär Hotel & Spa | Wengen

The advertised spa is basically a pool with a lot of noise, heavy reverberation, a small hammam (directly next to the pool, so good luck finding any calm), and a sauna outside. If you are a family looking for a place to let your children run wild and unattended, this is the place for you. If you are looking for a place to have normal social interactions and possibly even some calm after the slopes/ hikes, you should definitely reconsider staying at this hotel. The issue is that the hotel advertises itself as a relaxing place — which based on what I experienced is simply a lie.

This is our 2nd trip to Wengen and I was so happy I chose to come back to Braunbar! The staff, atmosphere, rooms, location to skiing and town are 11/10! ||The staff (all three bartenders and all the kitchen staff) truly made us feel like we were at home. Full staff greeted us every morning with a smile and spoke good English for Swiss town. They even gave us chocolate and crib for our 2 yr old to make it an easy stay.||The hotel is in great location - 3 minute walk from train and the hotel even had a little shuttle to help with bags if needed. Easy to walk around town, which is what we love & right across from gondola for skiing. ||The pool/spa was also a nice perk to have to warm up on cold days & kid friendly! ||Truly LOVE this hotel and continue to recommend to anyone visiting.

This hotel has been ideal for us. Came on holiday with our toddler. Had a family room which included 2 bunk beds and a heavy curtain separator to the main room. Lots of space and very good sound insulation. The staff have been top shelf, so welcoming and helpful. The hotel is 20 seconds walk to the gondola and there is a kids ski school and beginner slopes right at the gondola as well. The hotel has toboggans that are free to use on request which is great. The hotel indoor pool, sauna and steam room are excellent. Was especially nice having it snow outside while we were swimming and our toddler loved the pool. The kids room below the bar is another great treat. Kids go down and play, visible from upstairs, so you can take a minute and have a drink and chat. Also, the hotel is literally centre of town, so everything is right outside the door and the tram station is about 2 minutes walk down the road.

The good: Although the room was quite small, it was nicely decorated, it was very clean, the bed was very comfy and the bathroom had Nuxe products. Breakfast was good with a decent variety of hot and cold options. Reception staff was very friendly. ​The bad: The rooms have basically 0 soundproofing, we could hear everything both from outside and from the hallway. The spa has a lot of wasted potential, there is absolutely no way you can relax while there are children screaming in the pool. The entire spa should be adults-only starting 18:00 and be open until 21:00, so that guests of all ages can actually enjoy it. There were towels and cups left everywhere, the floor around the pool was constantly flooded (we saw several people slipping and almot falling), staff only came in once to tidy up a bit and that's it. The dry sauna outside has no mention if it's nude or textile version, and some guests weren't even aware that they need a towel. And of course no staff comes to check if everything is ok. The hotel also lacks the typical Swiss hospitality: although we paid over 1200 CHF for two nights, we didn't even get a welcome drink or a personalised note or even a small chocolate, especially considering that it was also Valentine's weekend. Clearly management ia not doing a good job nor does it care about guests.

Very nice stay. Bathrooms weren’t in keeping with the room, too small for a family of 4. That’s said, the room was excellent. Bedding was great if you can get past the Swiss not having double duvets. Room was turned over almost telepathically, didn’t see them once and weren’t pested with door knocks relentlessly. Very nice staff, especially the guys on the reception desk, warm welcome, easy to deal with etc. would rather have the apps on the tv than having to re cast every time we tired them on but that’s probably me just being over critical. Didnt have the best meal I’ve ever had but the staff dealt with it perfectly. Overall was very happy and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

This hotel was perfect for our New Years week away. Even before we arrived I emailed with requests of our rooms and the response was immediate. On arrival at the hotel the welcome was lovely and all the staff in every area of this hotel were excellent and couldn’t have been more polite and helpful. The rooms were spotlessly clean everyday. Location of the hotel was perfect for our needs - nightlife and close to the cable car. Some reviews comment on it being noisy but we didn’t notice it much and for the central location it eas to be expected. Definitely one of the best ski hotels we have stayed in ticking ALL our boxes in terms of staff, hotel, location, bar and half board.

Dear Braunbär team, This is our eighth consecutive stay at this hotel. The staff are very friendly and organized, and our stay was very pleasant. The gondola and train station were also very convenient. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the restaurant. The food was really not good, and we had hoped for better. It was just reheated food, and it was really not enjoyable. Otherwise, it was very good and we will definitely come back next year.

Very nice stay in a very convenient location. The room was spacious and well furnished. The staff were very friendly and hospitable. The hotel offers two types of views, we took the mountain view which was facing Mannlichen. Im not sure if any of the rooms face Jungfrau, but the views were nice nonetheless. Would stay here again :)
