We heard about this place before we came to CR. It did not disappoint. We had breakfast, some tasty coffee, ice coffee and an excellent banana smoothie. Quick and friendly service. Food was fresh and delicious. Don’t leave without trying some dessert! The homemade peanut butter cups were fantastic!

The service was lovely. They have a plantain toast for my gluten free people that is to die for. The French toast was a bit dry so I’d definitely recommend going for the sandwiches and toast they are amazing. Coffee there was great!!

We loved the place and would come back several times if we had more time in Puerto Viejo. It's a great spot for either breakfast, lunch or cake/ coffee.
We had the potatoes with bbq sauce and the sauce was so great - it had small pieces of vegetables in it and was the best bbq sauce we had eaten so far. We also got the gluten free chocolate cake (queen of Sheba) which was incredible! The iced cappuccino tasted great too eben though it was different than expected (they put the milk, ice and coffee in a blender so that it looks like a smoothie). It comes with cinnamon which was great for us since we like that.
The card indicates what is gluten free and what is not. They have two different chocolate cakes that are gluten free and also a cookie for take away. Big recommendation!

We’ve been here for about eight days and the bread and chocolate restaurant is our favorite place for breakfast. Good places, friendly staff, well organized, and well done.

We got Iced mocha lattes, and traditional breakfast, and a avocado on plantain toast. The food was delicious! And the coffee was also very good. The highlight for me was the eggs, they were cooked perfectly. Highly recommend as it was a great way to start the day!

Wow - delicious! I had a coffee, ice cream float. The locally-made vanilla ice cream would have been wonderful just by itself, but with the coffee and caramel drizzle it was super-wonderful 🤩 And my mocha cheesecake was equally delish 😋

High ratings for good reason - a lovely little cafe with lots of brunch/lunch options, from standard fare to more interesting options. The avocado on plantain was incredible, and lots of avocado too. Cold brew was strong and a good size.
