This was a wonderful experience. The room we were in was perfect for our stay - easy, comfortable, warm. It was clean and quiet with aircon, TV, electric jug, soaps in the shower and daily service if wanted. The restaurant is lovely, excellent, friendly service with smiling staff. Loved it. And, I accidentally left behind an item which was found, saved and will be mailed back to me (at my cost of course). Wonderful staff.

Exactly what I needed for a weekend trip. A great location - handy for town and will be great for the new stadium when it opens. Friendly staff, clean facilities. I booked the windowless double room. It was fine for me, but I wouldn't recommend for 2 people. It was even smaller than I expected and would be difficult to just move around with 2 people. The double bed is obviously very small for 2 people, too. But like I said, it was fine for just me. The bed was comfy, shower had good pressure. The cooked breakfast was OK. A reasonable selection. The pancakes were terrible, but the rest was ok. I'll happily stay again. If bringing my wife, we'd definitely get a queen bed instead.

(Edit) I'm reviewing again because I stayed here a second time in just 2 months. We had an issue with the blind in our room it wasn't staying shut quickly resolved by receptionist and moved and upgraded to a king room. ALL silver member by the way. We checked in late unfortunately no parking in multistory behind hotel we parked in street. Thank you so much for the welcome card, TV was on lights were on and air con set nice and comfortable like I was coming home! If you're just looking for a hotel to get some rest after a day out exploring Christchurch or after work, this place is great. It's well priced the bed is comfy enough for a few nights stay. It's not an ultra luxury hotel but just what we needed. It has a guest laundry $4 for wash $4 for drying. The rooms are a little small but we managed fine. The location is great. Parking is located in a separate multi story facility on Hereford Street. Nice bar in the lobby doing happy hour every night and the food menu looks alright. Great service too at reception.

I enjoyed my stay here! Check in was simple, I had the option of viewing some rooms before selecting one. Room was tidy and the bathroom was separate, decent sized and functioning well. The view from my room was towards the Margaret Mahy park and of Manchester St. It was a lovely view especially in the morning. The ambience of the lobby was nice, the meal of lamb shanks ordered at the restaurant was very delicious! Chicken breast was dry though.

The rooms are teeny tiny, but perfect for a solo traveller. Service is lovely. Wifi is strong enough for meetings. Beds are comfortable, but a bit short for us taller than average people. Skip the breakfast. It isn't worth the price. Go to the pastry shop around the corner for breakfast. Location is a bit far from the airport, but perfect for wandering around Christchurch. The rooms are quiet, but the lobby can get quite busy with the bar and restaurant.

rooms clean but very small bed squashed in wouldn't fit a normal size man in im five foot one and I only just fit on the bed can't walk round it either, so if you need bathroom through night you have to climb over the other person. caravan type shower cubicle very small. no wadrobe , NO VIEW EITHER JUST A BLANK FIRE WINDOW can store cases under bed which makes bed very high. parking is to pay for 25 dollars a night and on 7 th floor and quite a walk from hotel if you've got cases and bags. no where to pull in to off load cases really either. however location great rooms cheap if you're looking for a cheap room and don't need parking pick this hotel otherwise avoid like the plague not what we expected

The service upon arrival was excellent. There was a large group checking in and I was well looked after. The rooms are perfect if you are looking for no frills, the rooms are quite small but cater for what you need. My room was perfect for a single travelling for work, but if you need more space you’ll need a bigger room. The restaurant food was good, I had the fish. The coffee was ok, but I didn’t expect really great for a hotel, no offence. Parking was in a multi storey car park around the corner, it was fine except for driving up 7 levels. You can park on the street after hours for free if you want to move the car. A highly recommended stay when travelling in Christchurch.

Big hotel in the very center of the city, but the rooms… are tiny! I felt like I was in some kind of futuristic Japanese capsule — compact, efficient, and kind of fun in its own way. I booked the cheapest room, but the hotel kindly gave me a free upgrade — judging by the photo, I think the upgrade was the window. 😄 Much appreciated though! The room was quiet, warm, and the bed was comfortable — good mattress, decent pillows, and I slept well. In the evening I had sushi, because honestly, in a room like that, all you can do is sleep and eat sushi — makes you feel like a proper Tokyo local. 🍣 Parking is $25 right next to the hotel, or free if you don’t mind walking a few blocks. All in all, a quirky and cozy experience with helpful staff and a fun atmosphere!

Yelp
A step up from the "flashpackers" hotel but not quite full service, this is in a great location not far from the central business district. Easily walkable to just about everything in the city center. I spent two nights here. My room on the first floor was "inside" so no noise from the streets and very little noise from the hallway. It was not especially large but I didn't pay for a large room. It has just about all you would expect with plenty of room for storage, a comfy bed, decent shower and the usual coffee/tea service. My only complaint is that the work desk is very tiny with not much room at all. It took a while to work out how to turn on and off the lights. Waaaay too many buttons. Checkin was speedy. Wifi worked well. I did not have breakfast here, getting coffee in the city instead. [Review 363 of 2024 - 16 in New Zealand - 21396 overall]

Yelp
I'd call it 3.5; a 4 if you don't have mobility issues, and a 3 if you do. It seems no one who's written a review is short and / or has a mobility disability. If you have difficulties, this is probably not the place for you. I am struggling here. The beds are ridiculously high; I was told the space underneath is for suitcases. What, are people bringing steamer trunks or a gazillion bags into a two-person room? I strained my back trying (unsuccessfully) to get in the bed. I was told none of the beds were lower (no accessible rooms? Really?). Didn't help that the mattress has a big dent right where one would get in. They were kind enough to bring a two-step stool; once I figured out how to position it so I could get up safely, I was successful. If they didn't have a stool, I'd have to sleep on the floor. The room is small (don't care; had an even smaller one in Shanghai), and there's no window (rooms with windows cost more). Apparently I got some kind of super-saver rate, so there's no daily housekeeping. That's fine with me. There's a mini-fridge and electric kettle. No microwave. The TV screen is at the foot of the bed. There's an outlet by the bed and a weird alarm clock-thing on the wall next to the bed. There's a little desk space and one metal stool. The hair dryer and iron are on a shelf. There's even an ironing board under the bed. No closet, but a few hangers on a bar. Full-length mirror on the back of the door. There is central air and heating, and the place is quiet. The compact bathroom has everything you need in a half-moon kind of frosted glass space. There's a low-barrier step up into the unit. Soap, shampoo and conditioner are provided. In addition to price, there are also other pros, which is why I chose this property. It's a great location; easy walks to a lot of sites, shops, and restaurants. The tram office about three blocks away, and there's a tram stop a short block away. Around that stop is also a stop for the #8 bus, which takes you to the Gondola. The bus to the airport stops around the corner about two blocks away. Staff are friendly and helpful. Laundry facilities are on 2, 3, and 4. It's NZ$4 each for a wash and dry. The front desk has change and ypu can buy wash powder there too. If your room is on the first floor, you need to get a white key card from the front desk for access. Would I stay here again? If I weren't short, and didn't have a mobility disability, then yes. Otherwise. . .I'm not sure. Trying to get into the bed (safely and at all) is a bit of an Olympic event for me. My back still hurts from my early attempts.

Yelp
It's an affordable place to stay the night. I wouldn't call it luxurious. It is small, but clean. All of the buttons by the bed do not make sense and the instructions on it don't really help. There were no USB plugs, which really was an issue since I didn't bring the right adapter for our phones. We plugged our phone into the TV USB, however the TV had to be on to charge and we can't sleep with the TV on. The bathroom, well, it was a bathroom. It got the job done and looked like a spaceship, but was tiny. For the price, we can't really complain. Check out was a very long line, though. They need an express checkout.

Yelp
New, modern hotel, with a nice bar/restaurant in the lobby. Great location in downtown CC, within walking distance to everything. Fantastic if you are a solo-traveler and need a place for a night or two, The good news first: the bedding was very nice, there is a mini-fridge, LED TV, and a hot water/coffee maker. Free wifi (capped at 500MB/day). However, the room I had was tiny: about 3 meters by 5 meters) which means the queen size bed takes up half of the space, and the integrated bath takes up 50% of the remainder. There was no window (only a full-wall mirror). The room I had works if all you need is one night to sleep, but it won't work for a couple, let alone a family with kids, wanting to spend a few days in town. I called it "my little prison cell" - one step up from a Japanese coffin hotel due to this one having a higher ceiling.

Yelp
I have stayed in this hotel during it's many different renditions and names over the past decade from the SO to the All Seasons and now Breakfree. I will say I think this is the best version of it thus far. The breakfast options are good, they have wake up calls as an option which was not available in the older hotel variations and the facilities are generally nice, clean and modern. The rooms are the same old spaces as the older versions and at this point are becoming a bit tired. It's a super sexy concept for a lone traveler. small rooms, simple setup, not a lot of area to lose track of any of your stuff. But for couples or tall folks the standard rooms are a bit tight. They do offer bigger rooms so that would be my suggestion for those looking for a more standard room. Or if you really need a window the efficient rooms are not your best bet as they have a large mirror and great lighting, but no windows. I'm happy the facility parts and pieces have been salvaged from the earthquake so I give them props for reusing. In the end the electronics are too cumbersome to figure out to make them worth using over your iphone alarm. Room service is fast and tidy. Wifi is not quite free as there are time and data limits so until it is unlimited that is a serious limitation. And in the end it's one of the more affordable rooms in the city. So if you are looking for efficient and some wifi book here.

Yelp
The hotel is in a good location the rooms are small but it's all good, the food is delicious if you're looking for something quick and easy not outstanding but not bad

Yelp
Rooms are small and clean. I found the design and quality of the fitting a little tacky but its is a good price for the location and overall quality compared to others in the city
