After a busy real estate day Robert and I stopped in at Breaking Bread in Smyrna. Lovely meat and two restaurant. Robert N. Hoff had baked Ziti and I had baked chicken. Yum.

Google
This was my first time ordering here, I wanted to check the menu on the website but the website is completely useless you can’t even order on there, and the prices are so outdated. So, I called to ask about the menu and the girl who answered sounded like a teenager. Talked so fast I couldn’t even hear the meat options, I had questions but she had an annoyed tone that was very off putting. I’m not from here, I’ve never had chicken and dressing and she got seemingly more annoyed when I asked about what it was. Then she didnt tell me my total, I had to ask. I think they should train their workers better or only have certain people answer the phone. When I got there, they told me the wrong price at first because they got my order mixed up with someone else’s. I didn’t mind at first but then they forgot to give me my side of cornbread (the muffin was drier than a mf), I had to ask for it myself. The place seems fairly unorganized even though they weren’t even busy when I got there. I really did want the food to wow me but it just didnt at all. $12.13 for a meat and two sides but it didn’t taste worth the money. Chicken and dressing was good, everything else was pretty average, mac n cheese was room temp. It was much better when I got home and added more salt and the texas pete they had there. If you’re white you’ll absolutely love the food here tho

Google
The food was amazing, the hospitality was remarkable, and the place was very clean. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. I pray that the Lord will give this family a double dose blessing and that his presence is felt as soon as people walk through the door. I pray that everyone walks in and your presence provides them with healing, deliverance, and your Love. In Jesus name Amen.

Google
Do you remember your grandmother's food? And how nobody could make anything that tastes like it? Well, that's what this is. Food that'll take back in the day. Food that lets you revisit the days you thought were long gone. The men and women who work here care about what they serve and making you feel welcome. When you walk in you're not "Order 27" and keep moving. No, it's "You want another roll baby?" I really like this place, and you will too. So if you find yourself in the area stop in and show them some support. Damn, their food is good.

Google
Veterans eat free. Google maps took me to back for parking which confused me and had to circle around until I realized where I was. This seems to be a local favorite for home cooking.

Google
Genuine southern cuisine experience, conveniently within walking distance to arcadegoers. Good food here and a calm, clean environment with nice staff.

Google
Very good meat and 3. Good southern food in a laid back atmosphere for a reasonable price. We'll be back!

Google
Great little hidden gem. First time there. Its a great home cooked meal. Not really soul food but not bland either. Would definitely eat again.

Yelp
I really like how you feel a part of the family here! The food is really good and where I go when I have a taste for soul food!

Yelp
Yummy chicken and dumplings. Also enjoyed the turnip greens and pinto beans. Cornbread on the side for a tasty Southern meal

Kimm G.

Yelp
If you're looking for a fabulous meat and three, look no further. Best turnip greens in Rutherford County, hands down. They've recently raised their prices, but who hasn't? I've heard their desserts are awesome but I've never had enough room left to try one.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem. Very good meat +3. Had chicken and dressing was really good and the best sides. Wish I would have tried the fried pork chop, but I'll be back.

Yelp
Had lunch at a little Meat & Three called Breaking Bread. It's a unique little spot with a variety of meats available during the week complimented by some solid side dishes. I had the Hamburger Steak w/onions, mashed potatoes, corn, and macaroni & cheese. The meal was served up hot and quick and the portions were a good size. Great service, solid food, and a good price...everything you look for in a meat & three!

Yelp
The pork chops were fried perfectly. The greens and Mac and cheese was delicious also.

Yelp
Can't go wrong. I love supporting local and this place deserves all the recognition. Hard workers, great meals, awesome prices. Check this place out next time you're in Smyrna!

Yelp
Went in for lunch with my co-worker. The food was amazing and you can't beat the price. Will be back to try the chicken and dumplings. Had the chicken and dumpling today for lunch. Let just say it was the best I've ever had.

Yelp
First time here. We got meatloaf and catfish. Wow! Amazing food like grandma's kitchen. Great greens very flavorful, mac and cheese was creamy, potatoes were creamy and not over seasoned. Can't go wrong here. Will be back!

Yelp
This is an amazing place to eat! The food is fabulous and servings are great size. They provide a great variety and excellent service.

Yelp
As a true Georgia girl living in Tennessee I appreciate this soul food gem. Whenever I am working in the Smyrna area I will always pop in for some good ol southern food. Everything you try will be cooked with love. My favorite side is definitely the greens and cornbread. I keep missing the chicken and dressing day, but the baked chicken and catfish are very tasty. Do yourself a favor and stop by one day. You will not regret it.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in town when I come to visit. I try to make it at least twice while visiting. Today, would be the second time but they are closed. My favorite is the meat loaf, Mac and cheese with apples or a green veggie and a half and half sweet tea. They remind me of after church service food. It's always the same beautiful woman that helps me when I come.

Yelp
One of the best southern food places I've found in Middle Tennessee. A true gem. Reasonable prices and absolutely amazing food. Can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Your typical meat and three type restaurant. It was $7.50 for meat and 2 sides. Drinks are $1.50. Tea is AMAZING!!! Had the baked chicken that had a gravy and sides were mashed potatoes (real) and collard greens. Collard greens were kind of tough and had sugary taste to them. Mashed potatoes were good especially with the gravy from the chicken on them. Chicken and gravy were cooked well but slightly salty. Went for a late lunch, around 2:30, so it wasn't busy at all. Parking is available out front or just across the street. Not too bad but I have had better.

Yelp
Ok y'all... I don't know what it is, but we keep coming back, and back, and back.... it's that special love they put in it. Today I had the best pork chops and green beans with Mac n cheese and corn bread, oh my god I'm getting the munchies just thinking about it. I'm a lover. Always.

Yelp
Meat 'n three joint in downtown Smyrna. Friendly service. Pros: Good food. Cons: Closes at 3pm and not open on weekends. Go if you are ever in Smyrna at lunch time on a weekday. ETA: I think they're open until 6:30pm now.

Yelp
I can't believe that no one has rated this place yet. I used to go here damn near daily when I worked in the area. Grew up in Smyrna, and this is where I go for Chicken and Dressin' Thursdays! I live in San Diego now, and I can not wait until I visit in 15 days so that I can eat here at least three times while I'm visiting.

Yelp
We stopped in here during Depot Days today. I had never heard of this particular restaurant before. I feel like I have just wasted the last three years we have lived here not knowing about this gem!! The food was AMAZING!! Before today I have never had a meatloaf I liked, and theirs is amazing. The food served today (for depot days) was a sampler and I can legitimately say I loved EVERYTHING. The atmosphere is that of a hole in the wall diner, which I personally love. I am so glad we discovered this restaurant and we will definitely return!

Yelp
The food is beyond amazing, the staff is so nice. The environment makes me feel like I am in my granny's kitchen. I love this place. Hope that you all try this place out.

Yelp
Great home cooked food! Wonderful service! Everything I have eaten here has been great - a must visit local Gem! **Only open for Weekday Lunch

Yelp
As much as I would love to dote upon a local mom-&-pop style restaurant, this place is far over-priced for the amount of food provided. The taste was great, home-style cooking, but I would price the meat & three during lunch at about $5.00, not $7.75 plus drink. Total for meal is around $11 per plate & drink. Portions are not exactly "heaping." For the money and food genre, I would more highly recommend Farmer's Family Restaurant http://www.yelp.com/biz/farmers-family-restaurant-murfreesboro?osq=farmers+restaurant

Yelp
Great food, friendly staff and well kept. Probably one of this towns best kept secrets. The food was phenomenal!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Phenomenal food, extraordinary service, very professional, polite, and helpful staff and owner. The atmosphere is light and cheerful, and did I mention the food is amazing?
google avatar

Yelp
This place is awesome the staff is so nice the food is delicious, never have to wait long in line is cafeteria-style, you can sit anywhere you want. I just can't say how glad I am to have such great customer service and great food all around I would recommend this place to anyone bigger families or just yourself they have just what you need to hit the spot. And the prices are reasonable great place!

Yelp
The ladies at breaking bread are wonderful, they've been catering the Christmas party for our Sunday school class for many years. It's always a good time and great food. This time was a good as well. Thank you so much for your wonderful service.
google avatar

Yelp
Sorry to have to take this review average down a bit but I would expect home cooking at a home cooking type place. Mac and cheese seemed like it was from a box and fried chicken was dry and un-spiced. Brussel sprouts were way over cooked even by country home cooking standards and weren't so tasty. Roll was pre-bought and finally the iced tea was a powder - you know the kind - pre-lemoned with something other than sugar. The two stars was for fast friendly service and a wholely acceptable and clean establishment. Add some more flair and attention to the food and a winner will emerge!

Yelp
I've been here several times but I've never been disappointed with the food. Some days for lunch I WANT a home cooked style meal and not just junk food like a burger and coke. They will serve you a plate that looks like it came out your southern granny's kitchen. The people there are so attentive and friendly. The food is so good! They even make their veggies taste delicious! Yum Yum! I wish they could have longer hours open, but when a business is small and family owned I can understand.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is in the perfect location for downtown Smyrna. It keeps that locally owned business feel going. Me and my wife went there for lunch It was some regular home cooked southern soul food. They are very religious. You don't have to be to eat there.. haha. Very basic. paper plates/cups. Red checkered table cloths. Very friendly service. All I can say Home cooking, Corn bread/ mashed potatoes, broccoli, rice, ham, chicken and lots of gravy! Never see alot of people there. I think they close dinner hours. I would probably go back since its in the neighborhood. A++ Support local businesses in your community!

Yelp
I work in Smyrna and stumbled upon this great hole in the wall a couple of months ago. I love the small town vibe and delicious food. The price is great. I think I paid around $10 for a meat and three vegetables. If you're anywhere nearby it's worth making a trip for lunch one day.

Yelp
Great BBQ pork and chicken, it was catered so I plan to check out others dishes now.

Yelp
Yummy food at a good value. Small little place you would almost miss.

Yelp
I love this place. Andrea has the sweetest spirit and cooks the best food I think I have ever tasted (outside of my momma's of course, LOL!)......I love to go here, eat and fellowship. This is my little hidden secret. I only take those that I love here. I don't want to share with everyone else, LOL!!!! You don't even have to eat the natural food here you can go here to get fed the word too!!!! Love you guys and I know that God placed you in the right spot.

Yelp
A little unheard of gem. Lived here for 5 years and never heard of it. Definitely worth going back to for a meat and 3.
google avatar

Brandon S.

Yelp
Good southern meat and three. Not many of these left. You won't be disappointed. Just make sure that check their hours before you drive out there, as their hours are very limited.

Yelp
Tried ir after reading about it and was disappointed. The service was good but the food didnt taste homemade.

Yelp
The food is great , no doubt. But the service is amazing ! They are always so nice and friendly. I always enjoy going in there . Very friendly folks.

LaDonna S.

Yelp
We love this place! We call it "soul food place" whenever we want momma's good home cooking!! The inside is clean & at 11:00 a.m. we "mature" folks are all there!! Someone said it was overpriced but you must consider their expenses also. We like they are a Christian atmosphere without blaring music! Go judge for yourself! Hours are shorter than the chain restaurants! LaDonna
